  1. Drake London is 6'4", 220 lbs, is known as a good blocker, and while he hasn't been timed in the 40, was predicted to run in the high 4.4s to low 4.5s. To me he seems like the type of receiver who Gute would create in a lab for the Packers offense.
  2. We're obviously going to have to agree to disagree. Theilen has regressed numbers-wise, but at the time they dealt Diggs, he was pretty dang great still. And it can certainly be argued that Mike Zimmer's conservative old-school run-heavy approach straight out of the 1980s simply cannot support having two star #1-type WRs. We'll see what happens this year under a coach that should be willing to open things up more. We'll also see concerning Olave. While there are some similarities to Jefferson, JJ is bigger all around, and was seen as a better all around receiving prospect (plus I wanted JJ to be a Packer in the worst way, and was peeved with the Vikings took him). I guess I'm just not a fan of smaller, skinny WRs. Packers haven't had one with that body type who had any success since probably Robert Brooks or Driver I suppose.
  3. Simply because a player works out doesn't mean it wasn't a questionable pick at the time. I'm simply saying the Vikings, who at the time considered themselves contenders, could have used that pick to fill a bigger hole on their roster than #2 WR. I argue that they have sputtered around mediocrity since then because they have failed to address the glaring needs, instead choosing the glitzy skill positions with their high picks. One of Olave's biggest knocks is his lack of blocking effort. I'm not saying that it is impossible that the Packers draft him, but that I'd just be extremely surprised if they do. Granted Gute doesn't have a super long track record as a drafter, but every perimeter WR he has targeted since taking over, from FA acquisitions to rookie free agents, has been the tall, strong, physical type. I think we're going to see a lot more of Lafleur's offense this year as well, which will be big on heavy sets and using the run to set up the pass. Not to the level we see in Tennessee or San Fran (Rodgers is still around after all) but more than in the past,
  4. The Packers are notorious for keeping player interest close to the vest. Once it gets to the point where that info has become public knowledge, that ship has often already sailed. Most of the big moves the last decade have come seemingly out of the blue ... for instance that random photo of Julius Peppers walking around Lambeau that popped up on Twitter several years back. No one had any idea that was happening until the deal was signed.
  5. I predict that the Packers will come out of the second day of the draft with two of a group of WRs including Pickens, Alec Pierce, Christian Watson and Treyvon Burks. All 4 seem 100% like Packer types, i.e. they are big, fast, rugged receivers who can block down the field. Those hoping for Olave or Skyy Moore don't realize they are not blockers whatsoever, and make MVS look thick size-wise. I don't see the fit there. Honestly, part of me kind of hopes they don't take a WR in Round 1. That is a very Vikings-esque move, and a reason why the Vikings have hovered around mediocrity for years. A few years ago they dealt Diggs, and used the pick they got back on Jefferson, when it can be argued that that team had much bigger needs than attempting to draft a 1-for-1 replacement for their #2 WR. They've neglected both the offensive and defensive lines for years, and it shows. But they have plenty of shiny, pretty weapons! No ... the NFL draft's 1st round is for targeting athletic freaks. Justin Jefferson is a very good ... ok great WR. But what has having him on the team brought the Vikings?
  6. I'm not even sure Braun really enjoyed playing baseball when he was in his MVP prime. He certainly isn't going to come back now.
  7. I have asked this several times over the years, but have never, ever gotten a response. But I need to ask again ... why do you never capitalize anything on your posts? I work as an editor, and while I try to avoid being the grammar police, this really irks my proofing OCD LOL.
  8. Using a MacBook Pro (Monterey 12.2.1) and Chrome as my browser. I like Chrome, so I don't want to go to a different browser. I see no changes in how the ads are loading, If anything, they are loading slower, which makes the experience even worse. All I want is the ads to load at the same time as the rest of the page. I applaud what you are doing here with the site, Brock, but after 15 years of browsing and diligently reading this site, I am getting pretty frustrated. These Google ads are absolutely terrible.
  9. I visit this site much more frequently on a desktop than I do on a phone or tablet, but I notice it both places. I have significant bounce on my desktop, and it doesn't seem to matter what the internet speed is. The ads constantly load slower than everything else.
  10. I know he's hurt, but did you forget that Luis Urias was also a part of that trade? He appears to possibly be a cornerstone infield piece for years to come.
  11. Random lefty reliever for a spot start against this Brewers lineup? MLB managers aren't stupid. Get ready for the Brewers to face a ton of random soft-tossing lefties until they prove they can hit them.
  12. So, so many were absolutely convinced that Stearns got fleeced on that one. A big lesson in not grading trades involving very young players immediately.
  13. It is likely that the Brewers themselves didn't feel a major upgrade was warranted, or perhaps even possible. There was no quick fix for this offense. It was always going to take Yelich not being terrible, and major improvement from guys like Hiura, along with Adames and Urias continuing to improve. If you would have added Castellanos to this current offense, it wouldn't make much of a difference. The lineup is the sum of its parts, not one dude who is going to hit .280 with 30 dingers surrounded by a bunch of crap. It isn't a matter of "add a dude and win a World Series."
  14. Sure as heck makes me glad that David Stearns is running this team and not you. I simply cannot believe how you have managed to hate Hunter Renfroe simply because you want to continue ripping on the Brewers for not building the offense in the image you want. It's an odd hill to die on, that's for sure.
  15. Yup. The Bulls are not a threat, Middleton or not. The Bucks simply played terrible in games 1 and 2.
  16. I can't tell at this point if you are even being serious anymore. You are letting your sheer hatred for the way the front office has chosen to construct the offense get in the way of common sense.
  17. There's also a reason why most thought the Bucks would have an easy time with the Bulls. The Bulls aren't good. Losing Middleton hurts, but it essentially isn't going to matter against the Bulls.
  18. Agreed. That aspect has made this site nearly unusable.
  19. How does a "2022 Trade Market" thread turn into yet another "We shoulda signed Castellanos" post? Methinks yet another case of thread hijackerry is afoot.
  20. Still thinking this series is a toss-up at best? I thought you were dead wrong before, and somehow you are moreso now.
  21. Who is the better option? They are all hitting like crap right now.
  22. Why would there be a difference between this site and Twins Daily, though? Aren't they basically the same template, more or less? The ad issue is demonstrably worse here.
