  1. Brady is also throwing to Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, Antonio Brown and Scottie Miller. Rodgers has Davante and a few Scottie Miller types. Brady also has Gronk and Cameron Brate. Both are better than anything the Packers have at TE. Tonyan are Brate are pretty comparable, but of course Tonyan is hurt. Brady also has a reinvigorated Fournette and a good backup RB in Ronald Jones Jr. Comparable to the Packers' crew of Jones and Dillon. Maybe a slight edge to the Packers there. The Bucs have done a better job than the Packers surrounding their QB with top-flight talent.
  2. Wouldn't surprise me in the least for that Browns-Packers game to get bumped back 1-2 days just to give the Browns an extra day and closer to a normal week - frankly it would also give postgame COVID testing after Monday's Browns/Raiders game a chance to actually find any new cases prior them traveling to Green Bay for a saturday game, too. The league would end up moving a different game to that Christmas afternoon slot, because TV $$$. I doubt it. Fox has been promoting the heck out of that game. The Packers in Lambeau on a late Christmas afternoon is a huge recipe for success ratings wise for the NFL.
  3. Sucks when you are playing against one of his owners, though.
  4. This deal is only fair for the Brewers if you are under the assumption that Yelich is going to be terrible, and his contract an albatross, for the long haul. I simply refuse to believe that. Because if that is the case, we may as well strip it down to the studs and rebuild now. There is no scenario where this team continues to be a contender for years to come unless we see a rebound from Yelich.
  5. Cron is also a guy who they could have theoretically acquired several times over the years for practically nothing. I, too, doubt they are interested.
  6. Kenny Clark hits the COVID list. That's a rough loss against a solid Ravens offense.
  7. Voit will be 31 in February. I don't know how much upside is left to mine there.
  8. It's the same thing. ATT TV rebranded as DirectTV Stream in late August.
  9. Depends which Vikings team shows up. That team is maddeningly inconsistent. As a Packer fan, I hope it's the team that lost to the lowly Lions that shows up in Lambeau in a few weeks. It is quite possible that the Vikings will no longer have anything to play for, and will simply be playing out the string by then.
  10. I'm still hoping Bahktiari makes it back this year and is effective. He'd be a huge addition, especially at this point. Then it would be whether Kelly or Yosh is the better alternative at RT, assuming Turner is out long-term.
  11. Throw as many of these guys against a wall as you can, and see what sticks I suppose. Ironic that in signing White and Singleton, the Brewers now employ a big portion of the Astros 1B depth chart from 6-7 years ago.
  12. Singleton is kind of a blast from the past. Hasn't played affiliated ball since 2017, and was most recently suspended for drug use. Somehow he's only 30 years old, though. He's always had prodigious power, but has been kind of a knucklehead in the past off the field. On the field, he's always K'd a ton.
  13. Milwaukee Brewers @Brewers · 7m C Jakson Reetz, OF Garrett Whitley and RHP Moises Gomez have been signed to Minor League contracts with invitations to Major League camp. Whitley is a name that many fans should find familiar. He's a former Top 100 prospect and is a 1st round pick (#13 overall) of the Rays in 2015. 24 years old now. Solid numbers in AA last season before looking overmatched in 30 games at the AAA level it appears. Still, he's a really good athlete. Probably not a terrible type to take a flyer on. Reetz also has some prospect pedigree as a former 3rd round pick of the Nats.
  14. Most predicted that contract to be terrible for the Reds, and that has come true. At this point in his career, Moose is a replacement level player with name recognition. Nice guy, great locker room guy, but not only is Luis Urias better both offensively and defensively, he is much, much cheaper. It is arguable that Tellez is better as well. Moose had a nice, fun little run here. But that ship has long sailed.
  15. It makes obvious sense to compare Renfroe to Garcia, but it's not a perfect comparison in this case, because once the Brewers decided to not make a qualifying offer to Garcia, he was as good as gone. I don't think there was any chance of him being a Brewer in 2022. It is likely, instead, that we would have seen Taylor and Bradley share time in RF, perhaps with someone like David Dahl, or a free agent from the under-$10 million AAV bargain bin. Those are the types of players Renfroe has to beat out production-wise in 2022.
  16. I think the point above, though, was that the team would have to part with several of those beloved high-end prospects in order to coax a team into taking on Yelich's deal if the current iteration of Yelich is what he now is. If you are talking about having to give up several of the team's top 10 prospects or young, cost-controlled players in order to jettison that deal, it changes the equation significantly.
  17. Thank you for that suggestion. For $9, I may give it a try. My wife is an Apple loyalist (hence, the two Apple TVs upstairs). I’m more inclined to go the cheapest route since we’re talking about a Frankenstein basement setup. Any recommendations? Roku? Amazon? Something else? I run Roku Express units on all my TVs. They are cheap (under $30) and super easy to use. Amazon Fire Sticks are pretty comparable. I've used both, and IMO the Rokus are a little easier to navigate.
  18. According to Ken Rosenthal in The Athletic (https://theathletic.com/2995533/2021/12/03/rosenthal-labor-dispute-is-about-one-thing-freemans-destination-could-impact-olson-verlander-mystery-more-notes/, the Brewers had some options for Bradley Jr., including a straight-up deal with the Blue Jays for Randal Grichuk or theoretically a deal with the Padres for Wil Myers. Those are more in line with what I was thinking they'd have to do with JBJ ... a swap of bad contracts. In the end, I can see why they chose to include the prospects they did for Renfroe, rather than trade one problem for potentially another.
  19. 1) You should be able to do that if the TV has an HDMI hookup. Otherwise you'd need to by a cheap converter such as this: https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Eanetf-Connector-Adapter-Transmitter/dp/B097QRSH31/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=hdmi+to+av+cable&qid=1638546872&sr=8-3 2) Probably not, as most monitors do not have audio functionality. Not sure if you'd be able to use an adapter for an external speaker system. There might be a way to do that.
  20. Which is before he ever has an AB in a Brewers uniform, so yes, he is 30 as far as we are concerned. It's about optics. 29 going on 30 sounds better than 30 going on 31, which is what Simba's post would lead most to believe. But yes, Renfroe will be playing in his age 30 season in 2022. While determining what a player's "prime" years are is FAR from an exact science, this article from the Boston Globe (https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2015/01/02/what-baseball-player-prime-age/mS39neFWm4hrVukT6lSYuK/story.html) indicates a player's "prime" lasts until they are approximately through their age 30 season. So, by that definition, Renfroe is still in his prime, but on the tail end of it. But, he was obviously a late bloomer (which explains why he is still arby eligible through 2023 at his age), so who knows? Wow, this offseason is going to really suck for awhile, isn't it?
  21. He is literally in his prime. Renfroe is 30 years old which is exactly the age players, on average, begin their decline so I would agree that he's past his prime. Slight correction: Renfroe doesn't actually turn 30 until Jan. 28.
  22. All appearances certainly indicate that, as you have veteran player union heads like Scherzer crying foul about the system being rigged against players, only to turn around and scramble to find the biggest deal he can find, which just so happened to be in the biggest market in the league, funded by the wealthiest owner in the league. Do as I say, not as I do ...
  23. Exactly. Also, if they didn't do this deal, and ended up buying out JBJ for 2023 for $8 million, they still need to acquire someone to play RF in 2023 (while potentially suffering through a JBJ/Taylor/Peterson/Brousseu platoon in 2022).
  24. Totally agree........unfortunately without a cap or even more widespread revenue sharing don't see it happening. Unfortunately it is the smaller market teams who are considered "cheap". MLBPA actually wants to reduce revenue sharing, as they feel that those smaller market clubs who benefit from the current revenue sharing program are simply pocketing that money, and not reinvesting it in player salaries. They likely aren't wrong, either, when it comes to many teams. The MLBPA wants that money to stay with the large markets, because those teams have proven that they aren't afraid to invest it in players. This leads me to believe that if the MLBPA had its way, there would be even more of a difference between the "haves" and "have nots" in MLB. If MLBPA requires a salary floor, it stands to reason that owners would then require a cap ... which MLBPA will likely never agree to.
  25. Not that one, the other one. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/seageky01.shtml.
