  1. Whatever makes it easier for Ned is the best thing for the Brewers.
  2. I dont know where I stand on Ben Sheets. I think that to win the world series we need Ben Sheets. I think that 15-20 starts from Ben Sheets is not enough to make the playoffs. I think that we (myself included) forget how good Ben Sheets is when he is healthy. The problem with him is the very definition of All or Nothing. AS much as I think that Ben Sheets is injury prone, it hasnt been like he has blown out an elbow or shoulder. I really believe that the majority of his injuries are because of poor conditioning. Now I got into it with members on here before - No I do not know his workout routine, and I do not know his eating habits. But in my heart I feel as though he could do much more to stay in shape which would prevent alot of these nagging little injuries. And the truth is, its the nagging little injuries that are causing him to not be considered one of the top pitchers in Baseball.
  3. Sean Connerys brother?
  4. House has new episodes - or so I thought I have been watching new ones.
  5. Get a job at Pizza Hut as a delivery guy for a few weeks. Youd be surprised how fast you can make some coin just doing it on evenings and weekends.
  6. Pay Credit Card debt for the last time and buy some wood for the fireplace. Will then throw CC into the fire to go back to where they came from.
  7. Guy De Rothschild.
  8. I like Mench I really do, but if I had to have him or Sammy as a guy for a Platoon - I am taking Slammin Sammy all day long.
  9. 30 year old Randy Johnson or Possibly 8 years ago Manny. If it had to be a current player - Chase Utley.
  10. Call me weak but I tell you if Gagne came in to that older song "Goodnight sweetheart well, its time to go......dododododo......." That would really be pretty sweet.
  11. Would you offer Chris Capuano, Derrick Turnbow, TGJ, and Caludio Vargas for ONE year of Eric Bedard? Bedard is a lefty strikeout guy and would fit nicely at the top of the rotation. Having a rotation of Sheets Bedard Suppan Yovanni Villanueva with Dave Bush in some sort of swing role, the Brewers staff would be lights out. Should we lose Ben Sheets for a few weeks I think we would still be in good shape. This would take alot of pressure off of the young guys in the rotation. Moving Turnbow makes some room for Parra to be in a consistant role which will help his progression quite a bit I think. When Sheets is healthy our BP would be similar to this: Dave Bush Tim Dillard Manny Parra Brian Shouse David Riske Eric Gagne and one of the following ---------------------------- Mota Mclung Torres Why would Baltimore make this deal? Well they are a team with alot of holes. They would get 2 guys for their rotation who have very manageable salarys. They get a closer which is a major need for their team, and Turnbow can be a rockstar in the right situation. TGJ gives them someone in center with Name Cred as well as great defense. Maybe they would be interested in the Hurricane also. I belieev that offering 4 affordable players who all have nice potential for one guy who is going to leave at the end of the year, woudl get considered by Macphail . Then again I could be guilty of overvalue.
  12. I really wish we could talk politics in teh offseason.
  13. For divorced families who alternate claiming their kids on their taxes - Id like to know how this works. I would imagine it goes to their perminant residence.
  14. Wow - what an amazing BP. Gagne Turnbow Riske Villanueva Shouse Parra Dillard Mota Mclung Torres Rotation --------------- Capuano Sheets Bush Yovanni Suppan Vargas Everyone of those guys has huge upside and potential. Thats 16 pitchers. There are still some big moves to come.
  15. To me that is overpaying. I dont have any issues with overpaying - unless its to a division rival. It shouldnt take anything more than Bill Hall to get Rolen. Their #s the last 2 years support that. Edit to add - the last few comments had me thinking this was the ROLEN thread. I am sorry.
  16. To me, this is ok...at least you don't leave it in the middle of the street. I'm targeting the people who have their chute facing forwards from their driveway into the road, then don't bother to clean it up. I've also put it into the street a bit before, but then immediately moved it back to the yard or the curbside strip of lawn. Once you get to the end of the driveway, there are few options...but be curtious to everyone and don't leave your snow in the middle of a plowed street. I am guilty. I do this a bit in the alley of my house simply because for some reason the snow always melts in the alley. I move all I can to other places but I do dump some snow in the middle of the alley. I dont know if I feel guilty or not. I have always told myself that I get taxed like Mad in this city and I am paying for them to plow my streets. On years where it hasnt snowed much I never got a partial refund. I guess where I come from its always Me versus The Man. Its been a struggle for Top Dog since a couple days after I was born. ----- Continued here: viewtopic.php?f=67&t=30513
  17. I gotta believe that Counsell is better than 07 showed. Career lows in every single category. I would expect him to bounce back and become a servicable bench player again. Last year was a glitch in my opinion. I dont think he will hit .300 but .265 is reasonable to expect along with 10 SBs.
  18. Thats not corny at all.
  19. It was the main article on yahoo this AM before I came to work (about 0530). It was on the page you go to in order to check your email. Somoene else here had to see it. Some kid was smoking pot so his dad sold it on him and ended up getting 9000.00 US for it from some guy in Austraila
  20. Exactly - thats why I dont believe it. I have seen it quite a few times.
  21. Thank you hawing. FYI - still trying no luck. I did read about a guy who sold guitar hero on WII for like 9 grand on yahoo. I believe that to not be true.
  22. please allow for a one time recap on this board????
  23. By EDDIE PELLS, AP National Writer (AP) -- One quarter of dietary supplements purchased in a recent sampling contained traces of steroids and 11.5 percent had banned stimulants, according to a study to determine whether supplements sold across the United States are really clean. The study was overseen by Informed-Choice, a nonprofit coalition of dietary supplements, and conducted by a British company, HFL. HFL bought best-selling brands of a variety of supplements made by companies that were not believed to screen for banned substances as part of their routine quality control process. The study does not reveal the names of the brands or their manufacturers. Of the 52 supplements that could be analyzed for steroids, 13 showed up with steroid contamination. The result surprised Travis Tygart, the CEO of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, who said no American athlete has tested positive because of supplement contamination since 2004. "I think it's surprising, and hopefully they'll provide names so this illegal activity can be shut down," Tygart said. These results come about five years after an International Olympic Committee study that sampled 240 supplements purchased in America and found 18.8 percent of them contained steroids. "The presence of steroids and stimulants in supplement products is still very much an issue," the conclusion of the report read. "It is clear that not all supplement manufacturers follow good manufacturing practices and the necessary controls are not always implemented to ensure the safety of athletes and the general public who use the supplement products." Kelly Hoffman, executive director of Informed-Choice, told USA Today, which first reported on the study, that banned substances can find their way into products accidentally, such as when manufacturers fail to properly clean equipment. In all, 10 categories of supplements were tested. Those known as testosterone boosters were most susceptible to having banned substances in them; six of nine boosters contained androstenedione, which was declared illegal about three years ago. Though amateur athletes are considered most susceptible to buying tainted products at health stores, the issue is also relative to professional sports. It has long been default mode for players who test positive to say they used a tainted product. Three years ago, the NFL and the players union began working with the nonprofit company, NSF International, that put supplements through a purity test and labels substances that are safe to take. Lori Bestervelt, senior vice president and chief technical officer for NSF, said she also wasn't surprised at the results of the HFL test. "I think there are two categories, one where people are intentionally putting them in, and another where they aren't but they don't have a good rein on the supply chain or manufacturing practices, so things can slip in," she said. "If you don't have good control of the supply chain, and you're not testing and auditing, things like this can happen." Bestervelt said the NSF Web site provides a list of supplements that have carry the "Certified for Sport" seal, meaning they've passed that organization's rigorous testing process and are at low risk to contain banned substances. --- On the Net: HFL: http://www.hfl.co.uk/ NSF "Certified for Sport" list: http://www.nsf.org/Certified/BannedSub/listings.asp © 2006 The Associated Press.
