    Cal Raleigh hit his 60th HR of the season last night. He's played in 155 games (35 as a DH), it's incredibly impressive the season he has put up as a catcher with 7.2 bWAR. We get pretty good production out of our own catcher, William Contreras, who also plays in a lot of games at catcher with minimal rest but Raleigh's season is clearly on another level. Does he win MVP? If you're just comparing numbers, Judge is still the man. But I just think with the physical toll of playing that position and now hitting the 60 HR milestone Raleigh could see a nice bump in 1st place votes. It's the one thing that, perhaps, can't be measured by WAR. It's not rare for a catcher to suffer on offense due to the demands of squatting for 120+ games and wearing all that gear through the heat of a summer.

    All in all, regardless of the tickets that end up in the hands of opposing team's fans, I'd expect that Brewers fans will still vastly outnumber those other fans. Brewers fans will always be the ones most motivated to buy playoff tickets for Brewers games, and almost all of those people want to actually go to those games. A Brewers vs. Cubs playoff series would be the only one where I'd think the opposing fans would be significantly loud but that's already kind of the norm when the Brewers host the Cubs.

    Correct. This topic has 820 views in going on 3 days now, I'd assume by many whom have clicked on it multiple times to read new replies. What actual result do you think comes of this from the couple dozen people you've reached with your plea? I don't begrudge you for your opinion I just don't think that, as a call to action, it's going to be effective. If you bought advertising on billboards all over Milwaukee I would wonder how effective that would even be.

    In the article I read I believe they said that challenges on average were about 13 seconds. But they also said that challenges per game averaged out to about 4 per game. So that's one minute total added to games. Seems like a fair enough a trade off to me. Replay challenges take longer. I barely notice the time on those unless it goes really long. I don't think the time for balls/strikes challenges are going to be that noticeable.

    On the surface I can see how that sounds like a good idea but both teams getting a bunch of inconsequential challenges would absolutely slow the game down. If a team is using challenges correctly they will have infinite challenges to use throughout the game.

    Read the article that @markedman5 linked, explains the thought process behind the choice for 2 and I think it sounds very reasonable. Basically teams are going to have to be strategic in their choice to use their challenges. If a challenge succeeds the team retains their challenge(s). So 2 should be plenty if used correctly. The point is to have a way to fix egregious incorrect calls, not to nitpick about borderline pitches that could get called either way.

    The Cardinals have been on my list since 1982. The Cubs only joined the list in 1998. Before that I actually mildly rooted for them. I didn't actually mind their 2016 championship either, the Brewers weren't affected by that. But I had a deal with myself that once that happened it would be the last time I was ever pro-Cubs. The Yankees have always been a team I hated and I don't think I need to explain why, though these days that feeling isn't quite so strong (it'll always be there though). The Dodgers are the new Evil Empire and they're a constant obstacle to Brewers post season advancement so they're definitely up there rivaling the Cards and Cubs. Astros might be up there too but there's not actually that much emotion attached there really. I'll probably let that go once the last remnants of the cheaters are gone for good.

    Nobody said that making the playoffs has to be a cakewalk. If it takes all 162 games then that's what it takes. The Tigers still gave themselves much better chances to make it by building that cushion than if they had to try to chase a team down from behind instead. Either way is possible but I'll take that first option every time.

    Only reason I think this post is silly is because what percentage of Brewers fans are actually going to see it? It'll be tiny. This post is a nothingburger. If the Brewers themselves posted to social media and begged their fans not to sell postseason tickets to non-Brewers fans for the exact same reasons as this post it would be largely ignored. You can't control the human mind by trying to appeal to a "noble sacrifice" over the potential for monetary gain. Or, as OSS has said, even just getting some return on a ticket you won't be able to use. This is not to say that I don't agree with the sentiment I just don't think this post is really going to have any significant impact if any at all.

    Not a big issue with me really but it does strike me as odd that you can't navigate to a poster's profile and find the Ignore button there. Again, I think I've maybe used the Ignore feature on 2 posters total so really doesn't affect me, just odd.

    Honorable mention to Bobby Hughes, who didn't actually officially wear 66 (this must have been a spring training pic). Only played 2 MLB seasons, both with the Brewers. I mostly just remember him being kind of a funny guy in that clubhouse.

    I remember Billy Spiers started the season on an absolute power binge mashing 3 HR the first week of the season in 1991. Alas, he didn't hit his 4th homer until July. He ended up with a career high 8 dingers that year.

    Well I think the idea is that if they keep playing around .500 baseball their chances in the playoffs won't be great no matter who they play or what their seed is. So they better flip the switch or it's going to be an early exit again regardless.

    Per Packers.com: The game will be broadcast across the country on Amazon Prime Video. If you live in the Green Bay market, it will also air on WGBA-TV, and if you live in the Milwaukee market, it will be shown on WITI-TV.

    Willson Contreras will begin serving his suspension today. There's a little uncertainty about the length but there are some reports that it has been reduced from 6 games to 4 games. Nothing official quite yet.

    Good news for folks that don't like the Apple TV+ MLB broadcasts is that it's reported that Apple is opting out of their contract after this season.     Lol I was going to say, Steve Jobs doesn't care much at all these days. It's also the last Apple TV+ game for the Brewers this year. I like their baseball broadcasts *shrug*

    Pirates are on a bit of a heater right now going through a 12-4 stretch and having won series against the Blue Jays, Red Sox and Dodgers, the last of which was a sweep. Can't take anything for granted here.

    The Brewers are 8-11 since they won the final game of that 14 game winning streak. If they manage to take 2 of 3 from the Pirates in the next series they'd be 10-12. They went 3-3 vs. Toronto and Philly, two really good teams. Folks kinda need to calm down. Or not. Wallow in misery for all I care. All I know is that I'd rather they be going through this "slump-ish" type stage now in early September rather than in early October. Doesn't guarantee they'll be hotter once the playoffs start but it is what it is. I don't know, it just kinda feels normal to me that the team would cool off after how whackadoodle hot they were for a couple of months there.

    The Brewers getting the monkey off their back would be awesome. But I look back at 2011 & 2018 with pretty fond memories too and they didn't make it to the WS. Tony Plush walking off the Diamondbacks, Brandon Woodruff hitting a HR off Kershaw. Fantastic stuff. I kind of agree the shine of a championship fades pretty quickly. It's always ideal to have one, goes without saying. The Bucks championship in '21 already feels like it was forever ago and the state of the team since then has just left me with a blah feeling. I'm still ecstatic they got one and the memories from it will last forever but it just goes to show how fleeting that crest of the mountain feeling is. Anyway, I'm just so happy that the Brewers are in the position they're in right now and it looks like their future is just as bright. Hopefully that first championship comes, if not this season then in the next 2 or 3.
