  1. "Stearns, asked what this trade means for Luis Urias, says Urias can play a valuable role on the team this year and in the future with his ability to play all over the infield." So no more Reyes and Urias takes over that utility role I'm guessing?
  2. That's what I don't like. What are they going to do with Urias now? That Grisham/Davies trade gets worse and worse.
  3. Andy Haines frantically Googling "jeff hoffman reds scouting report stuff velocity 2021" as we speak. I hate the hate towards Haines...but I did laugh at this
  4. I'm guessing the universal DH will be implemented next year. With offense being down across the league this year that is the easiest fix (at least in the NL).
  5. Judging by that little writeup on Jeff Hoffman he will probably go 7 shut out innings with 11 Ks
  6. Nice to hear him say that but it's too bad he didn't get to play in front of a packed Mill...erm...American Family Field one last time before calling it quits.
  7. For sure. If you strike out a lot in the minors it will only be exaggerated in the MLB.
  8. Don't agree with that, it is very easy to make incremental improvements that can help them at least score more than zero. There is no reason Shaw should continue to be hitting lefties on a regular basis since Green is in the system. Green isn't great but could hit lefties when necessary. Ok, so call up Green, who is a 27 year old career minor league journeyman and has been in the minors for his entire career for a reason. If you're extremely, extremely lucky, you'll get a Casey McGehee story. The far more likely scenario is no improvement or an improvement which moves the offensive bar basically not at all. There is no help on the way at any position in the realm of strong MLB ready prospects who could be reasonably expected to contribute at a high level offensively. The only one is Keston Hiura and only if something really clicks for him soon. I have no problem with giving Zach Green a shot, but the fact that a 27 year old minor league journeyman with 14 career MLB at-bats was the first name that came up when I said there is no real help on the way kind of proves my point that there is no real help on the way. I tend to agree with you but the last two seasons Green has had an OPS north of 1.000 so it's worth a shot. Some guys just take a while to figure stuff out so might as well see. However, if they did bring him up I doubt he would get an extended look to see what he can put together with consistent at bats. Jesus Aguilar would be nice right about now. We talked about how bad he was playing in 2019 when he had an OPS of .694...what we wouldn't give for that now. Hell, even Ji Man Choi! Send away those guys and we are stuck with Vogelbach...SMH
  9. But I bet Yelich outhits Trout over the next 6-8 weeks (the expected timeframe that Trout will be on the IL). We're all frustrated, but it's probably not fair to slam someone for getting injured while playing baseball. Hopefully the Brewers can get & stay healthy and we get a better read on what we're working with. If Yelich hits like he should (All-Star level), then this offense very quickly looks much different. It is a head-scratcher that Haines still has a job. Coaching jobs aren't very stable in the best of times, and the Brewer offense has been down long enough that Haines should probably be worried about his job. There's definitely a "good ol boy" system that seems to exist within the Brewer organization. Those who are part of the club tend to have much longer leashes, those who do not seem to be expendable. Andy Haines is a good ol boy. So was Eddie Sedar. The "Fire Andy Haines" argument is so lazy to me. He was here in 2018 and 2019 and we had a good offense then. He isn't the one swinging the bats. Its because we have bad hitters, simple as that. But you can't get rid of the players (for the most part) so firing Haines is really the only thing that can be done at this point and that isn't going to do anything long term for the state of this offense. It would merely be a shake up move.
  10. Never thought I would be pining for Daniel Robertson, but here we are. I hold my breath every time its hit to SS. We did sign Hernan Perez....
  11. Their hitting is worse and their pitching is worse. Yet they are only one game behind us... Baseball.
  12. But this is by far the worst Brewers offense I’ve ever seen. Entering today they had an OPS of .660. It’s never been below .700 since I was born.
  13. I have two reoccurring old football injuries from college, neck strains and back strains. They get better with rest and after a few weeks I'm back to 100%. They are probably never going to 100% go away and they can be triggered in a variety of different ways. I'm guessing Yelich has roughly the same issue with his back and tried to push it a little too soon and that's why he needed another couple of weeks. Now I'm sure he's met with specialists and has been given the best care possible but if they did an MRI and there is no structural damage to repair, then there's not much else that can be done. Someone get the man some HGH
  14. Also wondering this. I thought it wasn't serious but its been 12 days...
  15. I don't care if the Brewers lose 10-0 today, all I want to see is Yelich in the lineup and to not have any setbacks. Please.
  16. Based on their OPS+ during their tenure with the Brewers (not including Lorenzo's 2010 stint)... Christian Yelich - 161 Lorenzo Cain - 99 Avisail Garcia - 90 JBJ - 46
  17. Have you seen this Jesus Aguilar guy? He's pretty good. Brewers could use a guy like him.
  18. I'm glad I can come here and not hear about the hitting coach for once. Why does the casual fan always think its the hitting coaches fault when guys don't hit?
