  1. Maybe IDK. My guess is because people now think they might be there to clinch and/or win the division. or win a big game to take the division lead etc. But yea could also just be people are fired up after the last 3 days, who knows. People are fired up and taking Yelich's request in the player's tribune to heart! Packing Miller Park and hopefully making it very loud.
  2. Yep, Dodgers losing to Arizona last night was big in that regard. Boy, wouldn't it be something if the Cubs and Dodgers had to play the Wild Card game at Wrigley? Or better yet, Cubs and Cardinals in Wrigley on Monday, which would basically be game 4 of the series. While it would be satisfying for the Cardinals to miss the playoffs altogether, I think Cards vs Cubs in the WC game would be excellent theater.
  3. I’m stoked. Third time in my life they’ve made the playoffs. Congrats to the Brewers.
  4. Is anyone else curious why Carpenter leads off in that lineup? Wouldn't it make way more sense to do something like Martinez, Osuna, Carpenter, Gyorko, Molina, De Jong, Wong, Bader, P? Splits the lefties way better, you avoid having a string of 5 straight RH hitters against a RH pitcher. Seems super obvious to me. Even if not that lineup, somethign like that with Carpenter hitting 2nd or 3rd instead of 1st. While it likely isn't a big deal... Carpenter has significantly better numbers out of the lead off spot. I'm sure he'd settle in at 2-4, but he "seems" more comfortable batting lead off.
  5. In theory Chacin vs the Cards is a good matchup. Righty heavy line up. I'm someone grateful for an early start tonight. Been staying up late the last few nights watching other games and listening to the post game coverage. Will be nice to have an earlier night.
  6. Popular topic on the local airwaves today is whether the Brewers will/should celebrate tonight should they clinch a playoff spot. My opinion: F ya they should celebrate. This team has only made the playoffs twice in my lifetime. These guys deserve the celebrate making the playoffs because it's a great accomplishment. They have an off day tomorrow so go nuts. If they go on to win the division, celebrate again.
  7. I would pick CC. What he did was so far outside of the normal confines of what a SP does. He went on short rest for a month. Pitched a bunch of CG. He was the one guy who held up a collapsing team.
  8. My cognitive Brewers memory really starts in the early 2000s so I can't speak on anything before then, but I would say 2011 was better than this team. The starting pitching was really good. Greinke, Marcum, Wolf, and Gallardo all had mid 3 ERAs w/ 28+ starts apiece. Peak Braun and Fielder. A very good Corey Hart. Very good season and spark from Nyjer Morgan. Good season from Rickie. Hairston a spark down the stretch. I think people also forget how good that bullpen was too. Axford, Saito, Hawkins, and Krod too. 96 wins and an NLCS appearance.
  9. I knew when they acquired him they god a very good player. The first half really played out similar to his career numbers. The second half is more than I think anyone could have reasonably expected. My favorite Yelich moment of the season was when he and Braun went back to back to walk off the Cardinals. My favorite game of the whole season (so far).
  10. Well, you heard the guy. Let's all do our part to support this team over the weekend. They've earned it. 50% off tickets for those in the 5 county area too. I hope to see 40k+ all weekend. Will be games 20, 21, and 22 on the season for me.
  11. I can't get enough right now. I don't generally listen to Bill Michaels, but I need all the Brewers content I can get. Also flipping on MLB Network radio here and there. They're starting to drink that Brewers koolaid as well.
  12. So a couple days ago it still felt like the national narrative was Baez for NL MVP. After these first two games in STL it feels like the narrative has shifted to Yelich. At this point, assuming deGrom and Scherzer are out of the discussion to win MVP, it has to be Yelich.
  13. I think the Brewers are going to go 3-1 over the next four while the Cubs go 3-2 in their last five. Both teams will have identical 94-68 records, and have a Game 163 at Wrigley for the division championship on Monday, October 2nd. I agree this seems like it's going to happen. I know some people have said they'd rather not play a game 163 for the division and just take their chances in the WC game, but I think I'd rather have 2 shots to get into the NLDS than just one.
  14. Get greedy. Get the sweep. Here's a look at the Brewers bullpen usage over the past week: https://www.fangraphs.com/teams/brewers/pitcher-usage Probably not ideal to pull Chacin after 4 IP tonight like they've been doing with everyone, but I bet Hader would be available for 1. JJ maybe for 2 if needed.
  15. I tend to agree with you re: Chase. I also think if the Brewers make it to the NLDS and the opponent is the Cubs that Chase will get a start in that series. He's been strong vs the Cubs this season.
  16. I literally see the reverse argument from Cubs fans on twitter and comment sections. They think the Cubs wouldn't make the playoffs w/o Baez and the Brewers would still make the playoffs w/o Yelich. I think it's a lame argument from anyone because it's impossible to substantiate.
  17. Made it through the 10-pack pre-sale today. Pretty smooth and I'm happy with my seats. I bought terrace box for the WC and NLDS game 1 and 2. I splurged and got loge infield for NLDS game 5. Of course I'd be happy with getting a refund for game 5 because the Brewers already advanced!
  18. JJ- unknown given the neck spasms Hader- probably unavailable given the 27 pitches Burnes- worked two days in a row. Probably unavailable Peralta- obviously unavailable Knebel- he's pitched two days in a row, but I think if they're in a position to need him late in the game they'll use him. Everyone else is likely available based on recent workloads. Gio vs a line up of almost all righties isn't super ideal. 4 innings + a couple from Woodruff might be the way to go to get the bulk of these innings
  19. Ya that’s basically my thoughts as well. Additionally, righty heavy line up for the cards is an added benefit.
  20. This is how I have it plotted out in my head: Jennings faces just Carpenter and is removed regardless of result. Williams or Barnes comes in to finish the first inning. If the offense gets through 9 batters in the first 2 innings then Guerra comes in to work 2-4 innings. If they haven't gotten through that first time through the order after 2 innings they'll go with the other of Williams or Barnes and Guerra comes in for the 3rd inning. Then from there it depends on where they're at with the score. If it's within a run or two they use the "A" relievers. If they're down by 3+ runs it's the "B" relievers.
  21. Yelich is back in there so seems like the HBP from yesterday was no big deal. Carpenter is batting leadoff and is the only lefty batter in the line up. Sets up nicely for Williams of Barnes to come in after Carpenter bats in the first inning. Then if they want to put in their "bulk" guy after they get to the first pitcher spot in the line up it makes sense since they probably won't double switch any of these starters out early in the game.
  22. It's worth a shot... Anything to psych out the Redbirds. BTW, can we just get a Moose-Schoop-Shaw-Aguilar infield tonight? Lots of power to club Cardinals pitchers like baby seals... I don't know how the Brewers plan to attack this game after Jennings, but if they run out a bunch of their relievers it's probably best to go with Arcia at SS. JJ, Barnes, Burnes, Woodruff, Cedeno, and Knebel all have strong ground ball numbers.
  23. Glad I read this thread. I have a 10 game pack so my opportunity to purchase tickets isn't until tomorrow, but I probably would've messed up my order and only gotten out out tickets for 1 game.
  24. Counsell said he had a pretty good goose egg on his elbow during his post game comments. I suppose we'll see in the next hour or so if he's in the line up. Immediately after he got plunked on the elbow yesterday I cringed. I don't think he was wearing any type of elbow guard.
