  1. It's a six (Well, 7 now as I type this) run lead. Just have a short-ish leash and pull him for Jeffress or Hader if he gives up a run or a couple of baserunners. Oh I know this but this is a game you don’t want to give them life in - warm humid game at Wrigley - I’ve seen too many that were ‘in hand’ only to be sick by the end. I remember one where Aramis Ramirez hit that 3 run homer in the bottom of the 9th in one we were up by like 5 or 6 at one point. Let’s get this !!!!!!
  2. Am I the only one that now is terrified seeing Knebel up for the next inning ....
  3. And we will win 10-0, because, Baseball. Oh Oh We're half way there ... OH OH LIVING ON A PRAYER!
  4. All this said... We need to at the least split today and tomorrow or the division will be a severe uphill climb (though it already is, cause, Cubs). We are in fantastic shape in the wild card, with games in hand... using the variable games behind proposed here, and actual games behind, as well as games in hand. We just need to watch out for St Louis - like always. I wish they would just go away like they were supposed to... sigh. It's like they always say - take care of your own business and things will happen for you. We need to win series after series, and avoid another big losing streak , and at the very least we will have a play in wild card game.
  5. Yes the 3 games come from the average of the difference of win and loss column , aka magic number... all math all the time ! But never predictable! (Unless it’s the Brewers fading in a second half lol) Yep. And I pointed out in depth on page 8 of this thread why the math for the other argument simply doesn't work. I agree with you 100%. Emotionally it feels better to be ahead in the win column but mathematics say it doesn’t matter. Maybe in some playoff possibility % forecasts. But not in true numbers.
  6. Yea, however, the 3 games specifically come from the difference in the magic numbers. It's purely mathematical. Yes the 3 games come from the average of the difference of win and loss column , aka magic number... all math all the time ! But never predictable! (Unless it’s the Brewers fading in a second half lol)
  7. Of note and likely has been stated is we have played more games than a lot of teams in the hunt. The Braves being one - I believe we have played 6 more than them. The Dodgers for instance we have played 4 more than but are 3 up in the win column. There is an advantage to having games ‘in hand’ and when you factor head to head records as a three team tie breaker or a home field tie breaker.... as BAD as it has seemed lately.... especially in the wild card race... we have wins in hand VS many of the close teams (especially the West)... and having more games played can swing to advantage or disadvantage based on a team on a hot or cold streak. 3 games behind is 3 games behind no matter the win or loss column. To make up the ground is tougher being behind in the loss column of course ... %% probability wise will tell you that. But that’s why you play the game - you never know what will happen. A 5 game losing streak is as probable as a 5 game winning streak. Especially for teams that are not far ahead like some of the AL teams. More likely would be 3-2 or 2-3. That’s where the 3 game lead comes from as far as games behind. It assumes all things equal, 50/50 shot to win or lose. Of note : even as a kid I was obsessed with games behind and hoping for the possibility of a miracle , such as with the 92 Brewers team. I was hoping we’d catch Toronto even with them having a lead in the last few weeks. It’s about getting hot at the right time. Just ask many Brewers teams who have been in first place recently for long periods lol.
  8. Long day at work. Glad I didn’t get to tune in today . I’d of worn out the cuss filter today . Can we just erase this game thread and pretend today didn’t happen my gosh sickening VS the worst NL team....
  9. Sorry to take this out on you Yellie, you're not the only one who has made this type of comment. Here's why: OPS vs LHP Arcia: .414 Perez .832 Not to mention Perez has been hitting .977 in the 2nd half of the season. (That's against ALL pitching.) So no, Perez in the line-up does not usually fail again and again. What usually DOES happen is a big game from whatever player you guys don't think should be in the line-up. It’s all good I’m venting that we have all these new shiny toys , Moose is swinging well, and Arica finally hitting at least a high school level so it would be nice to see them play over Perez is all!
  10. Can't fathom why they would start Perez over Arcia after last night. Or even over Schoop and Moose and Shaw goal line package. Prove me wrong today CC, but these Perez led second string lineups usually fail us time and time again
  11. It's also really not hard to believe that "something" is cheeseburgers. Thanks ... now I'm the crazy guy laughing in a quiet office around 20 other people. Between this, and talk of "eating" his contract or not... this is a laughing matter
  12. Chase is why we can’t have nice things, like a decent sized lead.
  13. Haha this light hitting Padres team giving Chase a run for his money
  14. SAME. I do not trust Davies. I didn't trust him earlier when he was "back". Something has been wrong with him all year. Mechanics, injury, something of some nature , but he's not anywhere near close to somebody we'd want to trot out in a pennant race.
  15. Hopefully they can DL Albers or something. He is not the same as he was the first part of the year.
  16. [sarcasm]I'm just glad we didn't waste our time with a guy like JA Happ. Sheesh.[/sarcasm] http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/24266916/yankees-ja-happ-heads-dl-hand-foot-mouth-disease
  17. I'm sorry but *barf* ... You look at these lists of possible available, and makes you realize we are actually lucky with what we do have here..
  18. Lost me when they killed his wife off - Natasha McElroy- or whatever her name is ... she was my fav secondary character in Californication ! Chase with a clean smooth start !!
  19. Maybe we can get a campaign going to start a Shoop chant at miller park and he will fix the spelling?
  20. Season one for sure. Whatever last years season was... nah. Ugh I agree with you guys. It had so much promise !!! Then. Splat..... Arcia batting this year hahaha!
  21. He's taking his shift as the Deep State's designated survivor. Bahahhh Am I the only one who’s doing to miss Designated Survivor ? Nice start LoCain!
