  1. It’s surprising to me Eagles are 3 point favorites on neutral field considering how these 2 teams finished last season. What does Vegas know that I don’t?
  2. Just checked latest depth chart, Rhyan listed at RG starter. The shoulder injury really set Morgan back I guess. Wilson starter at LB not Cooper. Only Bullard cracked starting lineup among rookies. Stokes is the starter at CB. I can’t wait for Friday.. Also, Slaton listed as starter not Wyatt. I guess on first down Packers going big up front.
  3. Jones is interesting, packers have carried him on roster for a couple of seasons so might be higher on him than we think. Maybe they like him as 6th OL in short yardage but that’s not really worth the roster investment. Williams may be pushing Bullock for starting safety spot. Love to see the depth there as we have struggled to find good safeties. New defense looked great, so far so good.
  4. Yes, it's early but King has gotten some good press. Had a pick 6 off of Love I think and has been playing the slot. It would be great if he can replace Nixon there. Stokes also looking good and seems to be winning his starting spot back. It sounds like the staff decided before camp that Morgan would be worked in at RG, I guess they saw enough on OTA's/minicamp to know he wasn't ready for LT and Walker hopefully still improving.
  5. Yeah I laughed at Vikes when they rolled out the winter uniforms. Now we are copying the freaking Vikings. 😡
  6. In my lifetime I can’t think of any change in NFL rules like this. It’s like a whole new play and formation. Whether there is a huge impact remains to be seen,I would have scrapped kickoffs and just had teams start from the 25 but this has potential to be interesting.
  7. So you are saying Mahomes deal is now 10 years 668 million? I just did a quick search and it sounds like they guaranteed more and moved some money up but no new money. I could be wrong of course. edit sorry had some dumb math and fixed it, I am sure that you didn’t mean they added 212 to the 450 million but I am not clear at all on it.
  8. I am not sure anyone is saying this(it's confusing) but I think it is pretty rare for an NFL team to actually tear up a deal and give a player more money halfway through for the same years. They will add years to a deal, and in doing so may move some of that pay to the years of the previous contract for cap reasons but the Chiefs will make Mahomes honor that 10 year contract. To put it another way, after 5 years of the deal the Chiefs won't tear it up and give him a brand new 5 year deal for $350 million. Any new money he gets will come from adding more years to the deal. Restructures are a cap tool that converts base to bonus to extend the cap hit, there is not actually more money added to deal. Sorry if this is obvious but I read a lot around the internet about how it didn't make sense to sign Love to 6 year deal since he would demand new contact in 3 years anyway and I don't think that is true. The Packers would have loved a couple of non guaranteed years tacked on. Back to camp talk, I have noticed Slaton is always listed as the starter next to Clark in the base D in camp reports. No one has said he is ahead of Wyatt but it still strikes me as odd, outside of short yardage I would think Slaton really is there to rotate in for Clark.
  9. MLF said they still plan to look at Morgan at LT but the fact that he has been lining up at RG all camp so far says a lot. I saw somewhere Mike Wahle said Jordan doesn’t appear ready for LT yet. Probably best for now, RG is where we lost a player and the less reshuffling the better.
  10. I was hoping for that, he bounced back from it once this year, Shut it down for a while and see if he can come back in a month. Not sure what the rehab time is from surgery but if it can wait why not? Good news, this was a really big blow to the lineup.
  11. It may be just speculation but sounds like the hold up is that the Packers don't like to guarantee money past the first season. That sounds not quite right as I know they have used guaranteed roster bonuses in future years but they probably mean base salary. If true, that seems like a tough line to draw considering how much other QB's are getting guaranteed. The hold in is starting to bother me as the offense has stunk without him. I guess I will just hope it is our stellar new defense and not the backup QB's.
  12. I don't see the Packers giving up the franchise tag on a 25 year old QB who they are giving a megadeal to. Dak got it after I think playing for the tag, that is usually when teams agree to give it up. While it is used on other players all the time the tag is really about keeping the top QB's from moving, no way the Packers are the team that's going to blow that up. I would guess it is more about the length of the deal, Love probably wants another raise before he is 30.
  13. I think the Packers drafted Morgan to be their long term LT but he did reportedly get rag dolled by Gary a couple of times in OTA's/minicamp. I share your concerns about Rhyan's pass blocking but the Packers have never been shy about moving young guys all over the oline. If Morgan isn't ready at LT yet I think he gets a shot at RG. Add in the offseason comments on Tom being better inside and how the OL shakes out is probably the most interesting camp story. Totally agree on the excitement about our DL and the new scheme. But man, we have been let down so many times by preseason hype about the defense it's hard to be a believer until we see it.
  14. Training camp starts this weekend, have to say I am more interested than I have been in years. There are not too many starting position battles but I will be watching these: Lucas Van Ness and Preston Smith, DE - Preston comes in the nominal starter but I thought Van Ness came on at the end of the season and his 1st round pick status means they want him starting sooner than later. Maybe Smith holds on to it with his veteran status but it won't be for long. For sure they at least both get similar amount of snaps. Jordan Morgan, Sean Rhyan, and Rashad Walker, OL - I saw a depth chart that had Rhyan at RG and Walker at LT but I don't think there is much chance Morgan isn't starting. Maybe moving Tom inside will be in the mix but my bet is Morgan starts at RG this year. I am hopeful Morgan steps right in at LT though. Eric Stokes and Carrington Valentine, CB - Assuming good health I would guess Stokes has inside track here. Teams like to see 1st round picks through and he is the type of elite athlete you want at the position. But Valentine is no slouch as an athlete, I am pulling for him to hold his position.
  15. Wheels coming off before the break. We have seen it before and bounced back not really worried. Just tuned in why is Yelich out? I saw he was hbp in box last night…
  16. Not watching but is there a reason not to think Skenes will go the rest of the way if they don't get a hit? 99 pitches through 7, I always thought up to 120 with a no hitter but maybe Pirates are smart enough not to risk him.
  17. I certainly understand the hand wringing over Yeli’s contract and how it affects what the Brewers can do. But he is an all time Brewer now and for me I just want him to finish his career here just like I did with Braun. Like Braun the down years for Yelich have made me a bigger fan. He is back on a HOF track now I think, and while the back is concerning unlike Braun he plays every day when active. Congrats to him and Contreras, both deserve it hopefully we get a couple of more.
  18. That probably makes more sense, give Myers and Freddy the extra day. There is off day on Monday so they can figure out which 5 or 6 they want to roll forward with after that.
  19. Civale’s last start was Saturday so he could be plugged in at anytime. Probably gets Wilson’s start on this Saturday?
  20. Brewers probably get 3 guys, whether Turang or Megill is 3rd one depends on how roster falls I think.
  21. If he is a longer term project wouldn't you rather have the 1st round rights on him than get him at #33? I just read Kolek likely the first pick off the board in 2nd round so maybe not a lot of hope for Bucks there.
  22. I hadn't looked in a while but Burnes really having a nice year. Finally getting the wins and his ERA is 5th best in MLB. His K rate is down again and his bWAR is lowest among the top 10 ERA pitchers though. Still, well on his way to an offseason megadeal. Very happy with Joey obviously. 🙂
  23. McIlroy was 496/496 on putts inside of 3 ft before the miss on 16. Then he follows it with a 4 ft miss on 18 and loses by a stroke. wow
  24. Yeli has been saving #200 for the Reds, right?
  25. Watson for sure has #1 potential and really has played like it when completely healthy. He isn't as effective at 80-90% coming back from the hammy's though which compounds the missed games. Doubs did seem to plateau after his rookie year but did come on late season and in the playoffs so there may still be some upside. I think Watson and Doubs are #1 and #2 in TD's from their draft class which says a lot considering how many games Watson has missed. I know I am not alone in thinking Wicks may end up the best of them all. Add the 2 TE's and really as exciting a group of young receivers as we have ever had, I can't even think of a group that compares.
