  1. Most Packer fans I know view OT as a huge need, seems like posters here do as well. We think we have our franchise QB, you protect him with an all pro LT if you can. Like others here it’s the only position I would make a big move up for. And with all the QBs and WRs at the top it could get interesting for sure.
  2. When I saw the thread title I was thinking the same game, I wasn't working or in school at the time and was super excited for season after the promising 87 campaign and that win was a blast.
  3. I agree, like many of us I thought Jones was pretty close to done after the knee injury. I was a little annoyed they couldn't just offer him a little more and have a great duo but after thinking about it a few days that may have not even been on the table. Part of making the move to Jacobs was having a guy who can handle more carries, it really is more of a luxury than they could afford paying 2 starting RB's and neither the Packers nor Jones were likely interested at that point. It may blow up in their face but I think the odds are they made the right choice so I am just looking forward to seeing what Jacobs can do. Change is fun.
  4. Why not just keep Fields as a backup/gadget player? He has talent and is going to just be a backup in Pitt, it’s not like they did him a favor. Bears are dumb.
  5. Other than Love we don’t have a ton of guys to extend in the next couple of years. The entire offense is on rookie deals except Jenkins and Jacobs right now. I think we can afford another free agent or 2 if they are the right fit, cap needs to be look at over years rather than what space or dead cap we have at the moment. I do agree long term it would be nice to front load Love’s deal but I am not sure how much it matters with cap growing the way it does.
  6. Maybe the Vikes like McCarthy and don’t want to risk waiting or maybe NE wants out of #3. I don’t think they make the trade now without being sure of their next move but they may have 2 3rd round comp picks next year so it’s possible they just had the pick to spare and like the top of this draft.
  7. I have sort of hoped they may land him as I think they liked him the year he was drafted. But he apparently has really turned off a lot of teams for whatever reason, ex top 5 picks still young usually get overpaid in FA. Jerome Baker?
  8. Vikings trade up into the first round with Houston, giving up mainly #42 and their '25 2nd rounder to move up to #23. A trade like that this early could only mean they have their sights set on a QB and want to have ammo to move up.
  9. Dillon is back. Assuming it isn’t for much glad to see him back.
  10. I think if the ball bounce between the 20 and goal line and goes in it is still at the 20 but if it lands in the end zone it is the 35. I would prefer they just get rid of the kickoffs but they need the onside kicks to keep people watching the game late for TV revenue reasons. It's not a horrible change and sounds like it would help with less collisions.
  11. I don’t know that and I actually don’t think Jones was willing to come back once they signed Jacobs. But we do know their offer was less than what he got as a FA.
  12. There are some proposed kickoff rule changes that could mean more returns for Nixon as well, maybe the Packers know these will be implemented.
  13. Not when they let Jones walk for $7 million it's not.
  14. Nixon back 3 yrs/18 million. I hope they plan on him paying safety.
  15. Jones just wasn’t durable enough and Packers O needs good RBs. It sucks he went to Vikes but I still think it was the right move.
  16. So Runyon got 17 million and Jacoby got 12.5? That’s just nuts. I agree great deal, he moves right into Jones’ salary slot and not a lot of long term risk if he doesn’t pan out.
  17. I think the Vikings might have dodged a bullet there, Cousins got 100 million guaranteed and has one playoff win to show for all that money Minnesota payed him. Especially after he made a lot of talk about taking less to stay in Minnesota, it was time for them to move on. Too bad the Bears likely wouldn't trade Fields to them but they can draft a QB in the first and sign someone to start next year like Jimmy G.
  18. What a crazy day so far. MLF likes big running backs so not surprising they got younger and bigger at the position. I still hope Jones just wants to retire a Packer and comes back.
  19. I got mixed up and assumed that Bakh would also be June 1 cut since it would explain why they are waiting.
  20. Packers to release Campbell and likely Bakh on Wednesday and designate them post June 1 cuts. This will free up space so they can be more active in free agency, specifically a safety and maybe other positions. No word on Jones yet. No link but it was a Silverstein report I saw.
  21. Lohse was very solid for 2 years before falling off a cliff the last year of his deal. The Garza/Suppan contracts were much worse.
  22. Just saw on NFL network neither McKinney or Barkley to be tagged by the Giants and Winfield will be tagged by Bucs. I really like the idea of the Packers signing Barkley. It would take some pressure off Love at a good time for his development and they would probably get better value than paying more for another need like Devin White. I doubt it unless they have to cut Jones though, Barkley probably not interested in sharing top RB duties.
  23. I was thinking of the days of Reggie White/Vonnie Holliday as power ends in the 4-3 and thought maybe Wyatt and Brooks could fit that role, especially on early downs. But you are probably right, times have changed and guys have to be freaks like Reggie to pull it off now. But I do think Hafley must have sold it as the guys we have are better fits for it or we wouldn't be changing. Just start with stopping the run, I think that part is still considered a strength of the 4-3. The switch does require another LB and unless we score someone in FA(Devin White?) I expect one of our top 3 picks to land a starter there.
  24. I don't know that anyone is going that far, it wasn't total dumbassery like say faking a punt at your own 20 on Thanksgiving. To me it's more a debate about how far you go with the new aggressive play calling once you get to the playoffs and Campbell seems to go the furthest. Playoff games have gotten a lot tighter in the past decade or so these decisions earlier in games can end up bigger when there is no next week. We may have been burned by our own 4th down call just a week ago but like people have said here, if your kicker isn't reliable you take a chance. I think Campbell would have still went for it even with Baltimore's kicker though...
