  1. Jeremy Jeffress was literally acquired off the scrap heap, TWICE. They'll keep shuffling and picking until they have the right group.
  2. Yeah with all the key guys that are going to walk after this season, the Brewers should be all-in and spare no expense. It's 2019 or bust! Err wait....
  3. To be fair, they lost their likely closer and a key late inning guy for the season in spring training, and one of their key guys last year is slowly working his way back. You can't sign everyone to put on the roster You're being more than fair, you're being logical. From what I've been told, the IGTs are not a place for logic.
  4. I think people who are starting to pop up saying those of us with big expectations for Hiura this year are putting too much stock into a couple days of boxscores. See how that works both ways. Thanks for the advice though.
  5. And I'm just saying that far more than one game has formed my opinion. This organization flat out makes a point to avoid 3 time through like the plague and has for some time. And the data says its really smart to do so. There's some substance to that theory. But I hope if that is the case, we see a lot of starts this year where the pitchers see a lineup a 3rd time through, because it means they're dealing Exactly.

  7. I don't think that has anything to do with it. Woody was at 90 pitches, and was getting slapped around. I respect your opinion and we'll watch going forward.
  8. This is how the Brewers will deploy their pitchers. 3rd time through (unless dealing) is playing with fire and they're not going to push it just because the old book says your starter should go at least 5 or 6.
  9. It has nothing to do with patience. They're not going to buy another year and wait until June 2020 to bring him up. Once this June arrives you've locked in as much control as you'll ever have. The Brewers are a contender. They're not going to leave one of their best bats in the entire organization in San Antonio all year. Hiura can help the big club go further than last year.
  10. Not unless Eric Aguilar and Jesus Thames suck enough to bring him up. Otherwise who are you benching? You aren't bringing him up to pinch hit. Have you not seen how the Brewers play matchups? They build in 1-2 off days a week for just about everyone but Cain and Yelich. There are plenty of ABs to go around.
  11. Sure would be nice to be able to throw Hiura out there against Quintana tonight but it definitely makes sense to buy that every year of control. This is also why I have zero doubt he'll be up once the Super Two passes.
  12. If all 3 stay healthy and productive, the team might have send each down to San Antonio for 2-3 week stints just to limit their use. Rotate amongst them when Nelson is (if) ready.
  13. I'll take my crow with a side of fries, please Freddy was tremendous today. Actually all the starting pitchers have had nice moments so far. It's a fun position to be in. If they can continue to get solid outings from the starters, and even increase the efficiency to allow them to get deeper into games, that is going to make the bullpen that much more effective. Peralta was extremely efficient today, getting 8 innings out of his 100 pitches, and looking very effective in his 3rd time through the Reds' order. This is just so awesome. The fact that any of these 3 kids could be a TOR is a joy to think about. All of them could fall short of that lofty status of course, but just the possibility that 1,2,or all 3 could be dominant is too exciting to describe.
  14. So about that Freddy Peralta... Hopefully the dogs have been called off at least temporarily.
  15. This is one of the things I cited when I mentioned the likelihood of creative use of intial out getters this season. One week of the season didn't put this on their radar as an issue. This is obviously something they've been making plans for.
  16. That may happen. I think they signed Moose as a way to delay the calls for Hiura, but if he starts hot in San Antonio, and the 1B combo of Aguilar/Thames scuffles, we could theoretically see Shaw shifted to 1B and Moose shifted back to 3B, which would open a spot for Hiura. Moose doesn't exactly have an injury-free history as well, so that would be something to watch should be get nicked up. It will be interesting to see how they proceed with Lowrie once he's playing in games. Looking at how the pieces are going to fit together that far into the future is tough. Thank you and I appreciate the response. I think you touched on what is likely to happen. I feel like there's a good chance we see a lot of Shaw at 1B and Moose back at 3rd once Hiura's 6th year of control is secured. Hiura's call-up won't cut into their playing time as much as it would for Thames, Perez, and Aguilar in that order.
  17. Please no one take this the wrong way, BUT... I'm blown away that this is even a question and even more surprised that the answer isn't a unanimous Keston Hiura. I'd love and welcome hearing people's thoughts as to why they don't think he'll be the next 1st rounder to make an impact. Is it more because of the thought he'll be held back another year? Aren't sold on his talent? Combo of both? I'm genuinely curious of people's thoughts on this. And I respect why others might not share my expectations of immediate impact.
  18. Hiura is going to be a stud from day 1. Which is only about 2 months away as long as he stays healthy. It's going to be like acquiring one of the top bats on the market for free.
  19. In an effort to make this conversation a little less black and white (Mark A is lying, Tom H is wrong), there is a way both sides could be accurate. As the Brewers have been apt to do many times in recent years, maybe a 1 year deal with a mutual option that comes with a sizeable buyout is being attempted with Kimbrel. They could be trying to limit the amount they have to go over $9 million by working out a larger than normal buyout that Kimbrel gets if either side declines a 2020 option. Something like $12 million with a $4 million buyout gets Kimbrel a guaranteed $16 million for one year. And you could have Kimbrel on the other side holding out to get $17.5 million to beat Wade Davis's AAV if he's going to take a 1 year deal. In a scenario like this you can see how the two sides could be close, yet not quite there. And you can even see how the info Tom Haudricourt could be accurate. Drawing bold conclusions on incomplete pictures and snippets of information as is all too common here. And it's a stain that I don't believe the leaders of this forum want anything to do with.
  20. Big positive step from Brandon Woodruff tonight. As someone who has always held back given Brandon's struggles multiple times through an order, it was very nice to see him fool Goldschmidt badly in that 3rd AB and K Carpenter twice. That 3rd AB has been "tee off" time of Woody in the past. Not today.
  21. Thank you Mass Haas and all who contribute to putting this together daily. Even in the finest seasons by the big club, it's vital daily reading to check in and see how the future is faring. I think the new clean and simple approach will be more than fine. The discussion of the standouts of the day has a way of taking the discussion where it needs to go.
  22. Just hoping for a game that doesn't lead to another "sky is falling" topic on the Majors board. This place definitely takes losses much harder than it celebrates winning. An all-timer win on Opening Day produces an in-game of 13 pages. Loss number 1 on the season and the in the in-game goes 22 pages. Something to think about. Go Brewers! Go Woody!
  23. I'm not concerned but the Clippers were undermanned last night. Not sure if there are any playoff contenders more undermanned than the Bucks right now.
  24. I'm pretty skeptical of this one. I don't think Stearns is the kind of guy to waste his time and that line of negotiating sounds like a big waste of time. Yeah, no disrespect to the poster who shared this, but I'm not buying this one at all. Those numbers on the Brewers side don't make any sense. And the Kimbrel number that was used has been widely reported.
  25. Seconded. When I see the "Affiliate Record Tracker by Org" topic bumped, I can't click on it fast enough. I'm sure it's a lot of work but it's definitely appreciated.
