  1. We all know Jackson is a 2 pitch pitcher. Slider is his best pitch. He’s not really effective vs Lefties, but can dominate RH batters. So with this information in the brain, why pitch him vs a team in a tie game, with R L R L????????????? Why not pitch Black or Nelson or Peralta or Guerra. That’s 4 better options right there. Bring Jackson in later to face a tough RH batter only in a tight game.
  2. I’d have kept Perez down. Gamel down. Called up Freitas. Traded for Castellanos. Outfield: Grisham Cain Yelich Castellanos Braun Infield: Moose Arcia Hiura Thames Grandal Pina Freitas Arcia plays every game. Don’t need Perez. Vs LHP it’s Castellanos in LF Cain in CF Yelich in RF Moose at 3B Arcia SS Hiura 2B Freitas 1B Pina C Freitas hit .530 vs LHP so he’s my 1B over Grandal who’s best side is LH. He can rest up, because he’s played a lot the first 4 months. So yeah, I have a grasp of roster construction, and this lineup kills LHP. And I would argue we’d be right there with the Cubbies.
  3. Hiura Braun Castellanos Pina Freitas would have won some games vs LHP. Even with worse defense. Stearns is creative. If there’s a will there’s a way. Imo, the Will wasn’t there.
  4. Also didn’t have the options last weekend that we had in last nights game. I don’t like Jackson vs teams with lots of good lefty hitters, and with Zobrist back, that’s the Cubbies.
  5. Aguilar > terrible, Cain > terrible, Yelich > mortal, Arcia > terrible = this is why we have little hope vs LHP. Where i blame Stearns is all of this was known at the deadline and nothing was done to improve. Giving this team little hope vs The Cubbies and teams with lefty starters. Depressing. Castellanos would have added wins alone.
  6. Pomeranz is fine. One bad pitch, it happens. Jackson shouldn’t be pitching vs the Cubbies and I already explained why, And a could be good pitcher(Albers)should not be pitching in a tie game vs a team that we have to beat, when there are 4+ better options. You have to cover 5 innings at least and you don't have any other options. Ah, so a good guy can't pitch vs certain teams and/or can only face hitters of one hand, is he really that good then? I can't believe how you can't see the flaws in everything you're preaching. If Jackson mowed them down, Albers got nothing, Pomeranz does well and Hader/Gurra finish you'd be in hear screaming told ya so about how awesome the pitching/pen is. Instead, it's obvious none of those guys should have been used. Reality is none of these guys are that good, so bad days like this happen just too much and it's a crap shoot day by day Albers should not have been in the game, I stand by that statement.
  7. Not what I’m saying, and you have to know this, but instead of challenging my very specific take, you tangent. No one can challenge you on a take because every one of your takes is borderline crazy, and you don't listen to anyone who challenges you on them. Every one of my takes is borderline crazy? Go back and re-read my original take on CC taking the loss, and if you really disagree, I’d like to know why? Instead of 20/20 stuff, when you know I called CC out as soon as he put Albers in the game.
  8. Pomeranz is fine. One bad pitch, it happens. Jackson shouldn’t be pitching vs the Cubbies and I already explained why, And a could be good pitcher(Albers)should not be pitching in a tie game vs a team that we have to beat, when there are 4+ better options.
  9. Two comments on your take: Agree with the ridiculous imbalance of lefty hitters. I think this is now no-brainer territory. Disagree that we have a barren farm. Devoid of position prospects yes. But remember 2 good ones called up this year to the big league club should be fixtures for years. Pitching in our farm, imo, is stacked. And outside of Ray, his drafts have been great, and the investment on the international side will take a little more time to bare fruit.
  10. Peralta "probably good"???????????????????????????????? You realize that he has a 12.96 ERA, 2.64 WHIP in his last 9 appearances? Counsell has only used him 1 time in the last 20 days. But at least you've finally demoted Burnes from "MLB high leverage use only" to "bad." Peralta pitched great in high leverage vs the Astros, and fantastic in AAA before that, so I believe CC has confidence in him again. So your 42 question marks are probably overdoing it.
  11. Not what I’m saying, and you have to know this, but instead of challenging my very specific take, you tangent.
  12. Agree with your take in regards to bad luck and weak contact. But Albers was behind in the count with virtually every batter, and has been his last few outings. Bad decision to use him in a tie game.
  13. You tried this last night, when I said I didn’t like the Albers coming into the game, before he was lit up, so you can forget the 20/20 with me. Anyone that’s watched Albers lately knows his command is way off. There are no tree’s let alone forest. Just an error made by our skipper. And Pomeranz is just fine, and so are 6 other relievers. Albers was not one of them. And neither is Jackson vs the Cubbies.
  14. The pen is not garbage. It has 7+ good options of the 13 that are presently in it. Unfortunately, the wrong 2 were used.
  15. Last nights loss falls directly on the shoulders of Counsell. Tie game, 4th inning, injured, shorthanded offense, who does he bring in: Jackson. R L R L R L is the Cubbies lineup with Rizzo one of the Lefties up that inning. Lefties hit him hard, so why him? Tie game 5th inning, who enters the game: Albers. He’s been way off with his command, Albers should be the 9th pen option. Why put him in? Guerra Black Peralta even Nelson, but not the commandless Albers. As good as Counsell has been lately, this game cancels them out. If mistakes are made, it needs to be vs another team not the Cubbies.
  16. After last nights loss vs Cubbies, we have a better idea where this bullpen stands. The Good: Guerra Hader Pomeranz Claudio Probably Good: Peralta Suter Jackson Wild card: Black Nelson Bad: Albers Faria Burnes T Williams I said this team needs 10 Pen arms to be able to count on this Month to shut teams down, and right now we’re at least 3 short of that. Albers without command is awful, he’s a big loss to the pen. Nelson looked ok, not as sharp as I was hoping for, but he hadn’t pitched in a week. I’ll give him another opportunity. Jackson is great vs RH batters, bad vs Lefties, so he should not Pitch vs Cubbies unless mop up. The major issue that I see: other than Suter, there’s not another quality arm that can give the team 3 innings. We’ll potentially have that when Woodruff is back, but it might be too late.
  17. This ones on Counsell. 6 runs given up by pitchers that never should have pitched in this game. No spin. The truth.
  18. While better shortstop play would have been nice there are far far bigger issues with this team. It’s right there at the top, imo, if not the #1 problem. Negative war 2 years in a row at SS is horrible. But ok, everyone has their own opinions.
  19. Galvis is at -0.3 with the Reds. He was the replacement you championed. Who else were they going to go and get? Perhaps stop doubling down and think just a little bit before hitting Submit. I don’t know, just can’t keep playing this guy at SS. If he brings Arcia back again, oh boy, my heads gonna explode.
  20. Beat reporters question should be: why Jackson in a tie game when he’s bad vs LH hitters and the Cubbies have them every other batter? And why Albers in the tie game, when he’s struggled badly with his command the last couple outings? I’m scratching my head, wondering why?
  21. Arcia is a -0.4 War SS in the major leagues, second year in a row with the same negative war. Where’s the hot take? If he’s not the worst SS in all of baseball, who is?
  22. Yeah, giving up assets to replace crap with crap is how GMs get fired. No assets would have been given up, Arcia would have been optioned. But go ahead and enjoy the continuous Arcia AB’s.
  23. Bad decision to not upgrade SS at the deadline. Yeah, replacing Arcia with Freddy Galvis's .694 OPS (with the Reds) wouldn't have done a dang thing. But keep up your unresearched hot takes! Still an upgrade, if only slightly. But just to not have to watch Arcia hit again, now that would be really cool.
  24. Good to finally see him pitch. Velo down that second inning of work, so maybe another 1 inning pen arm, the rest of this year.
  25. Bad decision to not upgrade SS at the deadline.
