  1. Peralta "probably good"???????????????????????????????? You realize that he has a 12.96 ERA, 2.64 WHIP in his last 9 appearances? Counsell has only used him 1 time in the last 20 days. But at least you've finally demoted Burnes from "MLB high leverage use only" to "bad." You realize this all game by game sweeping comical level hot take overreactions don't you? Peralta: Demoted to AAA because he was so bad, comes back up and throws 8 pitches and now he's "Good". If you don't see it you're wrong as its a 'no brainer', then 4 days later it changes. IMO: Burnes should be listed as Good too. I read an article he went to the lab and now he's got it all figured out. High leverage ACE reliever now!!! The good: Hader Claudio Pomeranz Guerra Suter Peralta Probably good: Jackson Could be good: Black Nelson Bad: Albers T Williams Faria Burnes Moved Peralta to the good, after his 5th straight dominating performance(3 in AAA, 2 in MKE). And Suter too(1 run in 10 outings between rehab and MKE). 6 good pen arms is better, and we can hold leads with that, but still need 1-2 more to be good to have the depth, to streak, especially with our injuries. This is now a good bullpen though.
  2. Lady and gentlemen, the DBacks are red hot now, but unlikely to remain that way. It’s their streak now, but they will cool. But they will probably still be there at the end close to 86-87 wins. We haven’t streaked yet, maybe too injured, but, I believe we will, it just might be the last 11 or 12 games. If we can win tomorrow’s game, it’ll be easier. Lester will be tough, but we have Houser.
  3. With those mechanics..... Not going to happen. No one hits .387 anywhere with bad mechanics. Nice try though.
  4. He screwed up. Burned a good pitcher. But at least realized it and got him in there.
  5. Agree with this, I like Pomeranz, but he’s not Hader. We need K’s.
  6. That never stopped from bad mouthing Pina. Which is why you wanted Frietas called up to begin with. Pina has performed better than I thought he would, so yes, I was wrong. Just don’t think he’s a #1. And he’s not getting any younger. He’s a great #2 C.
  7. Freitas is a below average defensive C, with a bad pop time, and Counsell is not gonna C him, but he’s a real good hitter. You haven’t seen that YET. Not exactly easy to get in back in a rhythm with 1 AB a game. He’ll get some big pinch hits this month.
  8. 8 years not 7. Get er done. Better sooner than later, save $. Small mid-market ya know.
  9. He knows the team sucks. Sucks? Really? No team in baseball is more short-handed, think we’re doing ok, all things considered.
  10. Fixed. Seriously? 0-5 with 2 bb’s, all pinch hit appearances, and now you know huh?
  11. Well considering we have 4 regulars injured I suppose it could be worse. It’ll just make getting to the playoffs all the more amazing.
  12. You mean you saw it on twitter...... It’s been reported on the Cubbies website, seeing a hand specialist, don’t know how long he’ll be out.
  13. Great news on Woody and Hiura looking like being ready by the next homestand. Hopefully Moose will be back by then too, giving us our team back. Knock off another game or two till then, and then go 12-1 to get in.
  14. Repeat of last September could be brewing with this Guy. And since our offense is so banged up, that might be the “carry the team on his shoulders” finish that gets him his 2nd straight MVP.
  15. Love the safety squeeze. Selfless. And now the Double Steal, love it.
  16. Really? Killed it? I think his best moves were the ones he didn't make. Yeah, Lyles for Ponce > A+ Pomeranz & Black for Dubon > B+ Aguilar for Faria > C
  17. I loved the moves he made at the deadline. Killed it. Just wish he’d have done more. And Yes Castellanos And Freitas, imo, would have crushed LHP. But instead we have another lineup like we’re gonna have tonight > Gross. I’ve heard that word used a lot to describe our lineup vs LHP lately, so I’ll use it here. You call it hindsight, some would call it fairly predictable taking a great hitter out of a pathetic losing environment > Detroit, and put him on a better team > MKE. Voilà. I’d have given up good prospects to get him into this lineup.
  18. We all know Jackson is a 2 pitch pitcher. Slider is his best pitch. He’s not really effective vs Lefties, but can dominate RH batters. So with this information in the brain, why pitch him vs a team in a tie game, with R L R L????????????? Why not pitch Black or Nelson or Peralta or Guerra. That’s 4 better options right there. Bring Jackson in later to face a tough RH batter only in a tight game. Here's why it doesn't make sense. 1) You consider him good, but admit he can't get 1/3 of hitters out according to you. 2) You consider him good, yet guys in AAA 5 days ago are supposedly better options according to you 3) He literally just pitched against this team and did well. Yet the manager should not have used him again because it's clear he can't get this team out I don't know how many just blatantly wrong and contractadictory takes you needed pointed out to you before maybe you just chill a bit. I will admit I was less upset with Jackson in the game than Albers. Jackson has been pitching well prior, but Albers is and has been off, way off. That’s the move that lost this game anyhow.
  19. I stand by my comment of having 6-7 reliable arms out of the pen. We’ll just have to play the games.
  20. I’d have kept Perez down. Gamel down. Called up Freitas. Traded for Castellanos. Outfield: Grisham Cain Yelich Castellanos Braun Infield: Moose Arcia Hiura Thames Grandal Pina Freitas Arcia plays every game. Don’t need Perez. Vs LHP it’s Castellanos in LF Cain in CF Yelich in RF Moose at 3B Arcia SS Hiura 2B Freitas 1B Pina C Freitas hit .530 vs LHP so he’s my 1B over Grandal who’s best side is LH. He can rest up, because he’s played a lot the first 4 months. So yeah, I have a grasp of roster construction, and this lineup kills LHP. And I would argue we’d be right there with the Cubbies. Sorry no you don't. That roster construction is absolutely terrible for an NL team. You have no one that can functionally play any IF other than the 3 starters and a bunch of corner OF/1b/C. Not sure if you noticed, but two of our IFs got hurt, you have to plan on that. You have multiple guys overlapping at the same positions even though only a fixed amount can play each day. It's brutal. Moreover, you're giving up all that flex to "improve" from Grandal vs LHP to Freitas, even though Grandal has a mid to upper 8s OPS vs Lefties. And giving up at least two good prospects to improve from Cain to Castellanos for 2 months, which might not actually even help the team because it would create the worst defensive OF in baseball. Plus, management correctly viewed this year's deadline as not a 'lets go for it' type of year so didn't wanna blow more prospects. And remember, it's not like Castellanos has ever hit like this before so it's a massive lucky fluke. Again, this makes no sense. That’s your opinion, and that’s fine, it’s not perfect, but would have crushed LHP. Injuries would have changed things yes, but so what. I’ll take my chances with a lineup that can crush lefties, with worse outfield defense over what’s been put out there vs LHP the last couple months.
  21. It's also entirely possible that Black and his 6.33 FIP or Peralta and his 4.72 FIP would have come in and done the same thing. Could it be possible that the pitching staff just isn't as good as you think it is? Yes. It’s not as good as I thought it would be. It’s short one 3 inning pitcher and 1 or two additional arms. But it’s not what most on this site say it is either > bad. Far from it. It has 6-7 reliable arms, which is enough to hold leads, and keep tied close, but it needs 2-3 more to shut down teams, and be able to come into games in the 3rd or 4th innings and hold em down till we come back. If we had Hiura and a healthy Moose it would possibly ok, but we’re short offensively at the worst possible time.
  22. Oops. Yelich CF or day off then Cain. Braun in LF Castellanos in RF. Going with offense over D.
