  1. 100% agree. The cards have played above their talent level for an extended period and are due for a correction. If Yelich can continue to carry the team offensively, at least until, Moose and or Hiura are back, this division could still be up for grabs.
  2. Latest word I heard was he’s feeling healthy now, but needs more work throwing bullpens, he’s not happy with his pitching/pitches, guessing sometime on the next homestand.
  3. Love CC’s moves from Sat when he replaced Pomeranz with Hader, right on thru the last out of Sunday’s game. The getting Hader into the Saturday game was slightly surprising, only because CC never makes that sort of move. Loved it, hope to see that in the future. Then the other brilliant, under the radar move, bringing in Jackson to face 1 batter, RH’d. and getting the K. This is exactly how Jackson should be used, in close, important games that we can not lose. Imo, CC learned his lesson with Jackson on Friday, and that is big. It’s the Counsell understanding of his September bullpen right now has gotten me even more excited for what this staff will do this month.
  4. The Cubbies are not a good team. We should have won 3 of 4, even shorthanded, as we are. Now the tough part begins. Trap series if I’ve ever seen one. Recent history says we just don’t play well vs this team, especially in Miami, and that’s with a team that has moose in the lineup and a healthy Cain and Braun. Hoping for 3 of 4, but a split would not surprise. Even losing 3 of 4 wouldn’t shock me. Hoping Yelich can continue to carry us offensively.
  5. Wow, they are seemingly quick on the trigger. But with a high payroll come high expectations. That's where I think the Brewers Front Office has a built-in excuse. Payroll limitations can be used to explain away losing. Not so in Boston. At least now we know what will be dominating the baseball media over the days and weeks ahead. Not surprising in the least that he was fired, just the timing is a little weird. There have been rumblings that he wouldn’t be back next year. Dinosaur GM’s are going by the way side. Look for Boston to hire one of the Brainiac GM’s, Bloom Falvey Antonetti Porter Even possibly Billy Bean. There won’t be an shortage of seekers, that’s for sure.
  6. Think the fact our line-up is short Hiura Moose Pina, with Braun and Cain also hurting, is probably just as concerning isn’t it?
  7. That answers the Nelson question not just the rest of this year but next year as well.
  8. I’m with “the Stache” in that I think the Marlins are gonna be a scary 4 game series. They’ve been a nightmare to play recently, Mattingly ALWAYS has them playing hard. Pesky hitters and good young pitching, then the fact we’re severely shorthanded adds to the intrigue.
  9. Agree, and ever since he pulled Pomeranz, all his decisions, from lineup, to pinch hitters to pitching changes, have worked to perfection.
  10. This is our 2020 utility infielder, or.......... no I’ll just stop there for now.
  11. Vintage Counsell, I’m now all done questioning anything he does the rest of this year.
  12. September rosters + Yelich + Counsell = Winners. As shorthanded as this team is, any other month and we’re in serious trouble.
  13. Counsell said he likes Freitas as a pinch hitter. Another way of saying CC doesn’t like Freitas. Would have been nice to see Freitas get 3-4 AB’s today off the lefty.
  14. I’ve respected your opinion with regards to the pitching this year more than most. I’d love to hear your take on the crew’s present bullpen. My opinion is the same as Roco and Joey's. Its your whole premise of good and bad that's flawed. Especially when it changes almost daily. Right now they have no "bad" relievers. Question is who gets the late innings down the stretch. Right now its Poneranz and Guerra most often, maybe Suter and Peralta next week. Everyone neefs ro keep in mind CC is not an idiot if he chooses one guy over another on a given night. All these guys are inconsistent, so there is no right or wrong, good or bad. They don't have the Jeffress, Hader, Knebel, good night combo so it's mix and match, feel, hot hand. What IS really important is having a quick hook down the stretch. So many arms, if someone doesnt have it, get him out of there immediately. Like he did last night btw. Ok, I do agree with most of what you guys have said. I’ll take your critique’s under serious advisement. I guess I’m a little higher on our pen right now than everybody on this site, can’t help it, I just am.
  15. Taylor didn't do all that well at San Antonio compared to others, .269/.334. They called him up because they can have the entire 40 man roster up, but he really hasn't shown enough to warrent a roster spot in the majors. To be fair to Taylor, a really good 2018, got people excited for what this former top 100 prospect, would do this year. He looked great, like Grisham, in ST. But a wrist injury early in the year, slowed his year, but he had a great August, and here we are. So I believe he’s definitely rostered next year and with his defensive versatility and options is a valuable prospect to have in AAA next year.
  16. Ok, what I’m reading(between the lines)is you like but don’t love the pen right now. In your 1st grouping, the solids, Only difference is you have Albers and I have Peralta.
  17. I’ve respected your opinion with regards to the pitching this year more than most. I’d love to hear your take on the crew’s present bullpen.
  18. Love to hear your specific critique on the crew’s bullpen too.
  19. I should have put Peralta in the good as soon as it was apparent he had his control back, which was down in AAA. What you call reactionary, I call obvious. Suter the same thing, but for different reasons. Since he’s thrown his first pitch in rehab almost 6 weeks ago he’s been fantastic. Think I waited long enough. I believe it’s time for people to stop maligning this pitching staff. The pitching should now have shown itself to be the reason this team is still relevant, that, and Yelich. Kind of reminds me of last September. If we don’t make the playoffs, imo, it’ll be because we just don’t have the horses on offense, because of injury. Not because we can’t pitch. And what's the reaction to being called out on the crazy? DOUBLE DOWN!!! Crazy? Ok, explain your word choice with regards to the recent posts made by me in this specific pitching thread. Love to hear your specific take on the pitching staff we’re throwing out there now to try to get to the playoffs, especially the bullpen.
  20. I should have put Peralta in the good as soon as it was apparent he had his control back, which was down in AAA. What you call reactionary, I call obvious. Kind of reminds me of last September. If we don’t make the playoffs, imo, it’ll be because we just don’t have the horses on offense, because of injury. Not because we can’t pitch. The pitching has been below league average for much of, if not the entire season, which it still is. Getting a few innings from Suter and Nelson doesn't change that. Just because your eye test and your daily updated rankings tell you we have a double decker bus full of bullpen aces doesn't make it so. My eyes don’t tell me we have a double decker bus full of bullpen aces. I’ve never said anything of the sort. And to mention Nelson with regards to my recent posts tells me you might not have read them. Your below league average pitching comment for the year, not sure how relevant that is with the way this staff is pitching now, but since I do respect your opinion, I’d love to hear your take on the pitching staff we have now.
