  1. Pomeranz Albers Hader Guerra Claudio Black will get er done then. Oops, forgot Suter.
  2. He hasn’t been good. But overmatched no. He’s a rookie with a little over 100 AB’s. I think prior to tonight he was in a slump. But looks like he’s busted out of it tonight.
  3. Before tonight, yeah. I don’t think you really believe that. But I could be wrong.
  4. He's facing AAA pitching. He's right where he left off. That’s very true. Although the last 2 or 3 have been off lefties.
  5. Just keep throwing Lefty’s at the crew, doesn’t matter if there good or not.
  6. Interesting from you who bad-mouthed our current owner many times on these same message boards. You know, the winningest owner we have ever had. But yeah, please keep trying to lecture others on here. Never bad mouthed him. But also didn’t put him on mt. Rushmore like some fans around here. You shouldn’t put words in my mouth. I never once said he was a bad owner. Not once. But you know what: Even Mark A knows what Selig has done for the city of MKE, and for the health of his bank account.
  7. Sounds kinda like a used car salesman, but on steroids. Good one!
  8. Be careful ... between this and the "Bud Selig isn't a deity" talk, someone is gonna be upset. No until he gets a knock or two it’s ok. I understand the skepticism. Don’t care, just glad people are excited again at the prospect of the crew getting in the playoffs.
  9. Tap ... the ... brakes. Selig did more good than bad in his tenure, and for being so driven to bring baseball back to Milwaukee? For that alone, every Brewer fan owes him a debt of gratitude. But Commish Selig was not good for the Brewers. The rot from 1993 on is his responsibility. From 1993 on, a good argument can be made that the Brewers were made to be a bargain basement operation on purpose to make us one of the poster teams for a salary cap. We were a bargaining chip. He and his accolytes stuck with Sal Bando as GM way too long. He was no different than any other owner in leveraging Miller Park vs. relocation. A lot of fans bought into the financial unfairness he championed in the 90s, but we know now baseball success is really about having a commitment to being competitive (not a spender, but not a chintzer) who hires smart people. Small market teams can and do win, they just don’t have the flexibility to eat mistakes. And in the end? The best thing Selig did besides bringing the Brewers here in the first place was whom he sold to. He left the Brewers in great hands. But he probably did so at least a decade later than he should have. The thing that amazes me that nobody talks about and/or is pissed off about is that for all that he did to keep baseball here in MKE, after getting taxpayers to build Miller Park, the Selig's ultimately sold the team shortly thereafter to the tune of $223M. That was what I recall being a 4X increase over what it was 2 or 3 years before MP opened it's doors. Don't get me wrong, they were terrible owners and I'm happy they sold but it always felt like a con job to me. Wendy Selig-Prieb was a terrible owner, Bud Selig was not. Pissed off? Really? Why on earth would or should any brewer fan be pissed off? Miller Park? Really? No park no team. That’s fair. That revenue stream for the brewers was obviously needed for the team to remain here. Oh, and 3 or 4 times it went up to 223M. Now it’s worth 2,225,000,000 thanks to Bud. Let’s try again. He gave us a team-then he saved the team. And now we’re bad mouthing him. Wow, talk about ungrateful.

Even if your right with the team tanking on purpose, which your not, the team wasn’t owned by Bud once he became commissioner. His daughter owned the team, and despite what some think he left her alone to run the team and was above board because he had to be to satisfy the other owners. You sound like a big market fan. Big market fans are like the aristocrats just before the French Revolution. I stand by my comments regarding Selig and his saving all the small market teams that the large markets wanted rid of.
  11. Very scary fan at that game. Loud and scary.
  12. It has to be an injury or mechanical issue with Shaw, he can’t be this much of a mental midget.
  13. Team should re-locate. Same with Tampa bay. Spring training baseball is fine in Fl. Regular season baseball a joke. Mausoleum is putting it kindly. Can’t be more than 2,000 fans there, 800 of em to see Yelich.
  14. Exactly. CC will use every pitcher he has. They are all "out-getters" and he'll go to individual match-ups. Where it gets tricky is if the game would go extra innings. He'd likely keep a "starter" in reserve just in case. Don’t forget Woody. They can have scherzer or Strasburg or Corbin. I’ll take Woody for 3 or 4, then our pen over there’s.
  15. This has to be done, Orf to the rescue.
  16. He’s won multiple WS with multiple teams. 20 years ago he was ahead of his time. Not now, that’s all. If I’m Henry, I want it all. I want the youngest, smartest most well rounded guy I can get. I don’t know how Stearns feels about his future, but,if I’m Henry, he’s right there at the top of my list along with porter of Arizona, Antonetti of Cleveland, Falvey of Minnesota, who’s from the Boston area and Bloom of Tampa bay. Has anyone done more with less for as long as billy Beene? So many great candidates.
  17. Ok, a smart dinosaur.
  18. The Twins hold a $12M team option ($300k buyout) on Cruz for 2020. I would be shocked if the Twins did not pick up the option.... Ah, didn't know that, just thought it was one year. What would low budget GMs do with the cap space? Same things all other guys who've moved to big markets, spend it on big time FA contracts and then later get ripped on when the backends of those deals look bad. That said, I don't know why they won't just pay Betts. Only 26 years old, this contract shouldn't kill them. This is the biggest advantage mega markets have, when they have a homegrown star they can keep them. Disagree with your take on low budget GM’s. The overwhelming analytical driven GM’s will not abundantly sign the stupid long term contracts of yesteryear. That age is over, these Brainiacs are too smart for that now. Instead I predict the further separating of the franchises by revenue. Unless changes to the CBA are made, the top 8-10 large markets will completely dominate the playoffs and World Series like never before. These guys will dominate with large shorter term contracts, staying more and more between the players prime years, and record breaking depth. Their 40th man will be more talented than our 26th.
  19. Yea winning a World Series and multiple division titles is such a disappointment, can’t believe they ever hired Dombrowski. John W. Henry, he of a ~3 billion dollar net worth, just cannot wait to start slashing payroll and increasing profits. That’s all this move is. MLB owners think we’re all stupid and they don’t care anymore about trying so long as the dollars keep rolling in and they never go over the luxury tax threshold. Bud Selig finally got his salary cap. Respectfully disagree. Dombrowski blew past the cap, HURTING the franchise as well as the owner. The loss of 10 spots in draft order is unforgivable. The total disregard for the farm is unforgivable. He’s a dinosaur. Henry has no problem with a maxed payroll, nor should he, since the large markets are making so much $ its ridiculous. But I do agree with your last sentence. Thank The baseball Gods for that.
  20. Agree and disagree. I’ve also been a fan of the crew since inception, and agree with the 82 team winning the series with a healthy fingers, zero doubt that would have happened. And agree Dalton was a constrammoth GM. But disagree with your “miasma of financial sucktitude”description for the years after 82 with Selig. For being one of the LEAST Wealthy owners, he consistently spent money on payroll up until the late 80’s, early 90’s, when the revenue streams really started to separate teams into large markets vs Small markets. He loved the brewers, like a father loves his son, but gave up his baby in 92, to save the brewers and other small markets from the greedy large market teams, who didn’t want the MKE’s, Twins Royals Reds etc. to even be around as teams anymore. Steinbrenner Didn’t want revenue sharing, none of the large markets did. But somehow he sold them on revenue sharing and saved baseball in the small market cities. Point being, Selig should be above reproach in MKE, not dished by anyone, least of all a brewer fan. I know most know this already, but for those that didn’t, there you have it, in a nutshell.
  21. What could Stearns do with 250 million? Falvey? Bloom? Antonetti? As bad as the Sox farm is, and it’s bad, is there any doubt any of these guys wouldn’t build a juggernaut within a couple years. These guys would absolutely blow Cashman and Epstein out of the water. Stearns & 250 mil. You gotta be kidding me.
