  1. What the heck, has to be the year in a nutshell, that half inning. Counsell put in the wrong pitcher to start the inning, walks, throwing to the wrong base, the 800’th swinging bunt single against us, then the titanic blast. This loss on CC.
  2. Who do you go to? Which octane of gasoline is least flammable? Pomeranz Black Nelson Peralta. Would have been better choices, imo.
  3. Sometimes it's important to look beyond the last 5 days. Command has been off. But ok, other than Jackson, CC has been making great moves with the pen.
  4. Wow, another, kinda strange move, imo, bringing Albers in now. Not exactly pitching well last couple outings.
  5. Now Pina’s hurt. It’s getting ridiculous.
  6. That and talent. The talent is definitely there.
  7. The weakness of the pen is, other than Suter, no 3-4 inning arms.
  8. Good vs RH batters-Terrible vs LH batters, simple. Bad matchup vs Cubbies, too many Lefties. Bad decision > Counsell.
  9. Jackson not effective vs lefties, hated him vs Rizzo.
  10. We are the underdogs vs LHP, no doubt. No Hiura makes it worse. Anderson pitching makes it worser. Same tomorrow vs Hamels. If Chase can keep the ball in the park, we got a chance to win this game, even vs a lefty. We have a good pinch hitter vs LHP in the dugout, hope he bats with runners on.
  11. Watched Counsell’s interview the other day, he comes across as super confident, not put on, but real sure of good things ahead. I feel the same. Let’s Go!
  12. If we trade Yelich after 2020, and he has another year, like this year, we easily can get back 3-4 top 100 players. So that would be 3 MVP type years for free. So yeah, ridiculously lop sided trade.
  13. Well a mere 2-3 weeks ago management all had to go due to how horribly the team is built and managed. Now, apparently they're one of the best teams in the league. I already addressed that. But I’ll do it again. I was wrong. I was angry at Stearns for the specific roster imbalance, and Freitas being kept down with a .530 batting average vs Lefties. Our lineup against LHP, no upgrade at SS. I’m not angry anymore, it’s over, he’s more than made up for with the deadline deals he did make, and the planned September roster. But that’s fine, some on here can keep bringing up our 13 th ranked pitching, ha, or how we have too small of a sample size, blah blah blah. ahh, but this time you're right and we're all just too blind to see it. Just like we were then as well. OK No, I think most here see, what I see, but maybe not to the extent that I see it yet. But of course time will tell.
  14. All I’m saying is it’s not over, we could win 17 of our last 20 still and get in.
  15. Guy's gotta get his posts in while he can before the next pitching staff blowup dampens the September callup narrative that he's been parroting for the past 3 months falls apart. 16. And, this is my biggest concern. As much as I hate the Cubs - and want to see us win as many games as possible from them, I'd almost rather see us lose 3/4 this weekend than to split this series. Splitting this series will do nothing for us. Yes, we'll have a very small percentage of hope remaining, but I just don't see any way we are going to make up 4 games with 20 games to play, especially when none of those remaining games are against the Cubs. As others have already noted - our season basically comes down to these 4 games this weekend. Need to win 3/4 to keep hope alive. Anything less than that, and you can stick a fork in this season. Well I've been looking at it for a few weeks now from the "just keep alive for a few more weeks to keep us entertained" type of view. So at least getting the 2 keeps it alive a bit longer, which I'm all for. Sure, football is here but it's still not something to watch every day. Just keep hanging around, all of a sudden win 4-5 in a row and who knows. Note, I mostly have that type of view for a while as it's pretty clear they have next to no chance to win it all this year. So hey, just keep us entertained a while longer. Last year, you knew if they got in they could win it. We just outplayed the Astros, so I’d say if we get in, throw out the records, and just play ball.
  17. Guy's gotta get his posts in while he can before the next pitching staff blowup dampens the September callup narrative that he's been parroting for the past 3 months falls apart. It’s more than the September call-up’s. It’s the Pomeranz Hader Claudio Guerra Jackson improvement, to go with the Peralta Suter Nelson. And if 1 or 2 of Williams Williams Albers Faria Burnes can help it’s gonna get really fun around here. Then there’s Woodruff.

I won’t deny these aren’t important games. But, if we split the series it’s not over. Remember the Cubbies play the Cards 7 more times. And Hiura should be back for the last 2 weeks, and Woody the last week at least. I wouldn’t be surprised if we win our last 10 games if needed.
  19. Lyles and Houser have been good. Our bullpen has stabilized. But 3/5 of our starters have been a mess. Our pitching in August was bad. Not sure what I'm supposed to be seeing. I would argue the pen has more than Stabilized. But ok, if that’s all you see.
  20. Lyles and Houser have been good. Our bullpen has stabilized. But 3/5 of our starters have been a mess. Our pitching in August was bad. Not sure what I'm supposed to be seeing. I just looked and our pitching in August gave up the highest OPS it has all year. Probably a little skewed giving up 30 runs in 2 games vs Nats.
  21. I’m kinda surprised that you still think the crew might not have enough pitching to get a good run going. Now the offense is another matter. What? We are 13th in pitching in the NL. We've hit a nice little run here the past 4 games and it's been great, but we've been terrible all year. Including in August. We're 10th in offense, I believe. So not much better. Can we please stop with the pitching stats for the year. That’s another pitching staff. Just watch with the eyes at the action on the field, then go ahead and tell me that we have the 3rd worst staff in the NL.
  22. Him and Lyles locked up for 2 or 3 years would be a no-brainer.
  23. With each good start from here on out we can probably add a million or two to his contract.
  24. Just how good can this bullpen get these last 24 games? I’m not counting on the offense getting hot, other than Yelich, so, imo, the answer to that question will determine whether we’re in the playoffs or not. The Good: Hader Pomeranz Claudio Guerra Probably Good: Suter Peralta Jackson Could be good: Nelson Albers Black Wild Cards: T Williams Burnes Faria That’s 7 pretty good options to pitch. Not enough imo, with 3 in rotation that are non-dominant, and no breathing room for losses, CC will pull Anderson Davies Gio at the first signs of trouble, if he has enough arms. We need 10 that can be counted on to pitch well to overcome our frosty offense. So that’s 3 of Black Nelson Albers T Williams Faria Burnes. Now if only our offense can get warm.
