  1. Kennedy is 34 and due $16.5M next year, as well as the remainder of that this year (~$8M right now). The Royals will have to throw in a lot more than $6.5M to get those prospects. For reference, last year a 34-year-old proven closer in Joakim Soria who was making only $9M was acquired for Kodi Medeiros and a 20-year-old DSL arm and the White Sox kicked in $1M to cover the buyout of Soria's 2019 option. If the Brewers weren't going to pay Soria $10M for 2019, they sure as heck aren't going to pay Kennedy $16.5M. Kennedy isn't a proven closer like Soria, so the net would have to be no more than $3M for the rest of this year and no more than $5M for next year. The Royals would have to kick in at least $16.5M in order to get those prospects, and likely only two of the three. Ok, makes sense, all I know is I want Kennedy, his peripherals are good, he should be a real weapon the rest of this year and next.
  2. I don't see the Brewers giving up Ray for a rental, I think maybe you just don't like him so I can see why you don't mind but I doubt the Brewers share that view. Smith has been really good and may fetch a prospect as good as Ray but the Brewers don't have the prospect depth and can't make it up in FA like some of the other contenders. Someone else said it here yesterday but the recent slide should take most of the Brewers top 10 prospects off the block until the team shows they have turned it around. Your correct, I don’t like Ray as a prospect. Imo, Grisham has surpassed him as a prospect, but I’m making this trade now, not in 17 days, that will require Not just Ray but Peyton Henry as well.
  3. This team is long overdue for an offensive explosion. 14-6 brewers.
  4. Trade for Ian Kennedy: Kennedy & 6.5 mil. > T. Williams & Stokes & Lemons Trade for Will Smith: Smith> Ray & Henry & Diplan I have Kennedy for next year as well at 10 mil. And Smith for this year’s stretch run. I then Option Claudio. I Move Burnes & Peralta to AAA, to start, and work on their mix, and the end of August I have the option depending on how they are pitching and the big league rotation is doing, put one or both into the rotation or bullpen for the playoffs.
  5. This pitching staff is not quite as bad as it appears to be. My biggest concern isn’t the rotation: Lately it’s pitched well. It’s not the bullpen: Stearns can improve it soon with an acquisition. My biggest concern is Counsell, and his terrible decision making: - Taking Anderson out the last 2 starts way to early. He was rolling in each of those starts, absolutely no reason to take him out, but he did anyhow, which directly led to 2 losses. - his overuse of Guerra, which, imo, has directly led to his recent ineffectiveness. - And then we have the Claudio conundrum. Do I even need to comment here? Imo, Claudio should be optioned, to protect Counsell from continuing to misuse him. In hindsight, Stearns giving up anything, let alone a top 40 pick for him was a mistake. CC and Loogy’s just don’t mix. Stearns can help Counsell proof this staff by adding a horse starter(unlikely) and or pen arm or two.
  6. Agree. They both need to be throwing 80-100 pitches every five days, working on their pitch mix. As long as their throwing well, put into the rotation, with Chase and Chacín/Gio to the pen. September rotation: Woody Houser Davies Burnes Peralta
  7. I think it is because Chase's mistakes get hit over the wall too much. Not the last 2 games, against Pittsburgh he was rolling, taken out after 4, and last night pitched great, home run cheap, taken out 69 pitches. Bullpen lost both games. Let’s be honest here, Counsell has been terrible with the decision making of the pitching staff the last month and a half.
  8. Jackson 2.0. After getting shelled the first go round, he didn’t let it affect his performance back in SA, pitched lights out, and here he is again. Hopefully this go round is better than the last.
  9. I’m warming to the idea of trading him to the Dodgers, if for no other reason than that being the only way to get Freitas up and playing.
  10. I’m not gonna freak out over a couple of bad decision by our manager(taking out Anderson after 5 and 69 pitches)(Hader Pitching the ninth) and a rusty bullpen.
  11. Not going to stock the farm selling those 4 players.
  12. Starters can go past 69 pitches and 5 innings when pitching well, or past 90 pitches, even 100, 110. When you purposely pitch the pen more than any team in baseball, it better not have the likes of Barnes Williams Petricka pitching meaningful innings out of the pen.
  13. Who? Marcos Diplan? Jacob Barnes? Taylor Williams? Donnie Hart? I would say a big difference between this year and last is that we DON'T have the pen reinforcements in the farm to save us late in the year like we did last season. Devin Williams could be last year’s Corbin Burnes. Don’t rule out Rasmussen or Andrews or Perdomo either. September’s pen will be shutdown again.
  14. Not that it really matters, because each year’s team is different, but the Brewers weren’t a second half team two years ago. At the break they were 10 games over .500 and had a 5.5 game lead in the division. But they collapsed right after, fell all the way to .500, and rebounded enough to get close to the second wild card spot. And this year’s team isn’t going to be rescued by anyone in their minor league system or one or two of the types of bullpen arms that would be available. Ok, a great September team. And that’s your opinion about the farm and What Stearns can accomplish at the deadline. I happen to disagree. We have a couple strong pen arms that will be called up at some point, and I believe Stearns acquires a pen arm that helps our bullpen .like swarzak and soria helped our pen the last two years.
  15. This team is not that bad. Its been a second half team the last 2 years, a pen arm or two acquired at the deadline, a couple of call-ups, and we’re in business.
  16. I wonder if CC regrets taking out Anderson now. Bad managing. Thinking rested bullpen the wrong thought. It’s a rusty bullpen.
  17. Yes, Stearns obsessive compulsive disorder with regards to Depth, has hurt the organization this year. The stupid bullpen shuttle(Barnes Williams Wilson Petricka etc.) Is a good example.
  18. Arcia with a good game tonight. Solid in the field, and to me, solid ABs, even though he grounded into a DP and Kd, he took a walk, and tried to go to right. Maybe the break gave him time to think about things.
  19. Kelly with another good outing. 3 ip 0 h 0 r 0 bb 2 Ks Only 17 pitches/13 strikes.
  20. Im high on Burnes too, but that's just crazy talk. If one believe’s Burnes to be a future Tor, then how is it crazy? Question Brew 92...you are so incredibly high on "prospects". Why would you NOT trade Corbin Burnes...who COULD be a TOR Pitcher in the future, for a guy like Syndergaard who is PROVEN to be a TOR starter?? I guess I just don't understand your fascination with guys who MIGHT be good sometime in the future. Don't you always always always trade potential for proven talent?? I mean, that's how you improve your ball club, right?? And not just for Syndergaard, I'm talking anyone for any prospect. Always take the proven talent, right?? I would trade Burnes for the right player. I don’t trust Thor moving forward, injury being my main concern. Too risky.
  21. I wouldn’t trade Burnes straight up for Thor. I think many think Burnes in the next couple of years becomes a TOR, so at best that’s a wash. There isn’t a chance in heck Stearns trades for this overrated hulk. Im high on Burnes too, but that's just crazy talk. If one believe’s Burnes to be a future Tor, then how is it crazy?
