    AA Biloxi needs a win in Mississippi today to even the series 1-1. RHP Christian Mejias (5.40 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, 11.4 K/9 in 45 IP) gets the start tonight and CF Jackson Chourio’s on a decent 10-game stretch (1.050 OPS in 45 PAs).

    High-A Wisconsin targets a second win at West Michigan, but will have to do it without Willy Adames or Eric Brown Jr. apparently. RHP Cameron Wagoner (8.27 ERA in 37 IP) hopefully turned a corner in his last start (5 IP, 2 R). CF Joe Gray Jr. has hit safely in 7 of his last 8 games.

    Really awesome to see this after Campbell’s initial struggles with the promotion to AAA. His confidence has likely done a 180 from where it was just a week ago. Maybe he’s proving he belongs, similar to Weston Wilson in 2021. Now we just need Jon Singleton to find that next gear where he’s situated.

    The Low-A Mudcats also play a doubleheader today, with their games at home against Fayetteville. 20-year old RHP Quinton Low (2.16 ERA with 15 Ks in 8.1 IP) starts the opening game. 1B Jesus Chirinos returns to the lineup for the first time since leaving last Thursday’s contest early.

    After dropping the first game of today’s doubleheader in Jacksonville, the Sounds welcome rehabbing Jesse Winker to the top of the lineup for the second contest. LHP Robert Gasser (now 24 years old) gets the start, trying to build on his shutout 7-inning, 9K, zero walk performance last time out. 1 - Winker - RF 2 - Reed - LF 3 - Dorrian - 3B 4 - Devanney - SS 5 - Alvarez - 2B 6 - Navarreto - C 7 - Quinn - DH 8 - Harrison - CF 9 - Campbell - 1B X - Gasser - P

    The first game of AAA Nashville’s doubleheader in Jacksonville is already underway, with RHP Caleb Boushley (5.19 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, 7.3 K/9 in 50.1 IP) trying to give the team a 2-0 series lead. SS Cam Devanney has an 11-game on-base streak.

    I’m not sure why red-hot Payton Henry’s hitting in the 7th hole, but his RBI single has tied it up 4-4 in the 7th inning for Nashville. He’s 3-for-3 thus far.

    There we go. Felix Valerio and Tristen Lutz are a combined 4-for-4 with a HR, triple, 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Valerio’s 2-run triple ties the game 4-4 in the 4th inning.

    Why in the world in Drew Lugbauer still playing AA ball? What, 28 homers and 82 RBIs at this level last year wasn’t enough? Man. 3-run homer gives Mississippi a 4-2 lead. Dude’s in his 7th year in the minors, 3rd straight in AA.

    Sounds’ switch-hitting OF Michael Reed is a speed-first player, but after a key late double Sunday (reached base 4 times), he smacks a 2-run homer in the 3rd inning to give Nashville a 2-0 lead.

    AA Biloxi is in Pearl (outside of Jackson) this week to battle the Mississippi Braves, with RHP Tobias Myers (5.06 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 11.1 K/9 in 48 IP) starting tonight's series opener. 3B Tyler Black (.856 OPS in 188 PAs) and his 26-game on-base streak return to the lineup after missing 3 games.

    The AAA Sounds finally have a sixth starting pitcher on the roster, with rehabbing LHP Eric Lauer facing the Marlins' affiliate in Jacksonville. Over his last 9 games, 3B Patrick Dorrian has a .351 average with 4 homers and 12 RBIs.

    The Low-A Mudcats host Astros' affiliate Fayetteville for 7 games this week, with eye-opening RHP Will Rudy (0.74 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 9.2 K/9 in 24.1 IP) indeed getting the opening game start. In the 12-team Carolina League, 1B/3B Luke Adams is T-4th in RBIs (28), T-5th in walks (31) and T-10th in homers (6).

    High-A Wisconsin plays at Tigers' affiliate West Michigan this week, with rehabbing SS Willy Adames apparently still with the team (not Nashville, as previously suggested). Perhaps this is because usual SS Eric Brown Jr. is still absent from the lineup after exiting Saturday's game early. Today's start goes to surging 21-year old RHP Edwin Jimenez (1.91 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, 10.8 K/9 in 42.1 IP).

    Our excitement yesterday at 95mph-throwing 17-year old RHP Aldrin Gonzalez’s direct placement stateside was evidently misplaced, as he was put on the full season injured list. In an interesting though less exciting matter, we appear to have a 2-way player in the DSL, as 17-year old Argenis Aparicio is listed as a RH pitcher but the switch-hitter DH’d today (0-for-2, walk). Though I guess we should wait until he pitches and collects a few hits before assuming he’s the next Ohtani.

    More common pre-2009 when we didn’t have a DSL team. From 2009 onward, I’m only seeing Mario Perez in 2019. I wouldn’t count Jolon Zhao, since we wouldn’t likely send an Asian signee to the DSL.

    That’s the 2nd indication we’ve gotten that the team is high on now-17 year old RHP Aldrin Gonzalez, who’s apparently skipping DSL ball and coming directly stateside. Here’s a note from earlier in the year:
