I'm late on these lineups, but slipping them in for posterity sake. AA Biloxi tries for a 2-0 series lead in Montgomery, with RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez (2.12 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, 13.2 K/9 in 17 IP) making his 5th start of the year. DH/3B Tyler Black continues his torrid form, hitting two extra base hits yesterday to lift his season OPS to 1.014 in 84 PAs.

I’m tempering enthusiasm until we see him face and hit high strikes. At present, by seeing pitches better and murdering mistakes, he’d be an improvement over Voit at the plate, but not in the field. The fear is that most MLB starters would pinpoint those high strikes and Keston would end up struggling. The lack of high strikes from opposing pitchers (even today, they’re mostly just throwing high balls) feels like an International League conspiracy at this point, even if it’s just what you get at AAA level.

Noah Campbell and Isaac Collins collected six hits as the Shuckers won to tie their series. Nashville came back twice but couldn’t snatch a victory. Wisconsin and Carolina were rained out. Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic For the week, that makes Nashville (4-2) and Carolina (3-2) series winners. All squads hit the road for 6-game contests commencing on Tuesday. Sunday’s Game Balls go to Jeferson Quero, Noah Campbell, Eddy Alvarez and Isaac Collins. Transactions: Recently-acquired RHP Trevor Megill assigned to AAA Nashville Signed RHP Carlos Mauera and assigned to DSL Brewers-1 Game Action: Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Omaha 10, Nashville 6 Box Score / Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review the affiliate write-up as part of their Link Report routine: Storm Chasers Weather Sounds Rally to Take Series Finale Down 5-1 in the 5th inning, having already won this week’s series, one might have expected the Sounds to mail this one in, but instead they battled back twice to the delight of 9,469 fans in attendance. Unfortunately, Omaha responded with a 4-run 8th inning to put the series finale away. Rehabbing right fielder Tyrone Taylor (1-for-4, HR, HBP, 2 RBIs) started the attempted comeback with a 2-run blast in the bottom of the 5th inning. You’ll find more video highlights at the Nashville Sounds Twitter feed. Three Quick Strikes: LHP Robert Gasser (5 IP, 6 R (5 ER), 7 H, 3 BB, 1 HBP, 4 Ks) didn’t quite have it today, giving up home runs in the 3rd, 4th and 5th innings. He was then surprisingly sent out to start the 6th inning, in which two more batters reached before he exited. While a lot of attention has been on left fielder Keston Hiura (1-for-3, walk, SF, RBI) possibly getting a comeback call-up, don’t count out 3B Eddy Alvarez (3-for-4, walk, SB). The 33-year old utility man has seen time in the majors each of the last three seasons. Reaching base four times on Sunday lifted his season average to .370 and OPS to 1.100. Of course, the .439 BABIP is unsustainable and committing his fourth error didn’t help his cause, but the speedy Alvarez also stole his 8th base. Each of relievers Thyago Vieira, JB Bukauskas, JC Mejia and Luis Contreras yielded zero runs in their first inning of work, with the only damage (4 runs, 2 earned) coming when Bukauskas was sent out to attempt a second inning. Errors by Jon Singleton and Monte Harrison that inning didn’t help the cause. Next week’s outlook: Nashville (14-12) travels to face Twins’ affiliate St. Paul (15-10) this week. RHP Caleb Boushley is scheduled to start the opening game, looking to continue a good two-game run (0.87 ERA over last 10 1/3 IP). Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Biloxi 10, Mississippi 5 Box Score / Game Log Via the Shuckers’ website, game details: Shuckers Use All-Around Effort to Take Series Finale Against M-Braves A tight strike zone early on was the undoing of both starting pitchers, as RHP Tobias Myers (1 2/3 IP, 4 R, 4 H, 1 BB, 4 Ks) and his counterpart Alan Rangel tossed 126 pitches in a combined four innings of work. Myers left with an injury that we pray was largely fatigue from a 39-pitch first inning. 20-year old C Jeferson Quero (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBIs) made back-to-back plays to keep Biloxi in the game in the second inning, gunning down an attempted basestealer to end the top half, then rocketing a solo shot in the bottom half to cut the deficit to 4-3. Coupling his hitting (.279 AVG, .730 OPS in 45 PAs) with solid defense (e.g. caught 3 of 7 basestealers for a 42.9% rate) will keep his prospect star shining ever-brightly. Find plenty of video highlights of their series-tying (3-3) win at the Biloxi Shuckers Twitter feed: Three Quick Strikes: Elder statesman (at 25, Biloxi’s oldest position player) left fielder Isaac Collins (3-for-4, double, walk, RBI, 4 SBs) had a breakout game, reaching base four times and also stealing four bases. 3B Tyler Black (1-for-3, walk, HBP, RBI, 2 SB) and DH/OF Jackson Chourio (2-for-4, SF, RBI, 2 SB) each stole two bases, as the team set its franchise record with eight in the game. The firm of LHP Darrell Thompson (0.00 season ERA), RHP Harold Chirino (0.00 season ERA) and RHP Abner Uribe (1.13 season ERA) were lights out once again, retiring all nine batters they faced, with seven strikeouts. After yielding a home run to the first batter he faced (ending his 31-game streak without yielding an earned run, including 18 games in Australia), RHP James Meeker (1.08 season ERA) retired the following six batters in order. What a fun game for 2,592 to watch, especially the 4-run, 4-hit 3rd inning which featured triples by right fielder Noah Campbell (3-for-4, triple, walk) and center fielder Carlos D. Rodriguez (2-for-5, triple). Next week’s outlook: Biloxi (12-9) heads to Montgomery (11-10) to face the Rays’ affiliate. Expect RHP Christian Mejias (4.41 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 11.0 K/9 in 16 1/3 IP) to start the first game, although it’d be great if the team breaks out an in-form LHP Brandon Knarr, who hasn’t played since April 14. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes Via the Rattlers’ website, rainout details: Sunday’s Wisconsin-Beloit Game Rained Out The rainout leaves Wisconsin with a 4-1 series loss on the week. Unfortunately, this contest will not be made up, perhaps because the two teams don’t face each other again in the season’s first half. Next week’s outlook: Wisconsin (8-12) will bus to Peoria (9-12) to take on the Cardinals’ affiliate. RHP Joseph Hernandez (3.15 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 7.7 K/9 in 20 IP) is expected to start the opener, after his Sunday start was washed out. Via the Mudcats’ website, rainout details: Mudcats & Cannon Ballers Finale Postponed The postponement makes Carolina a 3-2 series winner over Kannapolis this week. The teams will square off again in May, so perhaps that’s when they’ll make this game up. Next week’s outlook: The Mudcats (11-8) hit the road to play Orioles’ affiliate Delmarva (12-7). Expect fire-balling RHP Jacob Misiorowski (1.93 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, 15.4 K/9 in 4 2/3 IP) to start the first game of the series. We hope that you enjoy the Minor League Link Report! Robert Gasser’s having his roughest game of the year thus far, so it was surprising to see Manager Sweet send him out for the 6th inning, when he was already at 83 pitches. The first 2 batters reached base, then he was finally pulled. Only 1 scored though (well done Thyago Vieira) and the Sounds immediately responded with 2 runs in the bottom half on hits by Keston Hiura, Cam Devanney and Andruw Monasterio. Down just 6-5, headed to the 7th inning.

Angels (Suarez) vs Brewers (Rea): 4/30/23, 1:10 PM CST
Ro Mueller replied to sveumrules's topic in Archived Game Threads
Rea probably earned himself another start. Give Houser another rehab outing. -
Yeah, RHP Taylor Floyd to AA Biloxi could be the first promotion of 2023. Thinking RHP Tanner Shears also moves from Low-A Carolina to High-A Wisconsin to back-fill Floyd’s spot.
