More common pre-2009 when we didn’t have a DSL team. From 2009 onward, I’m only seeing Mario Perez in 2019. I wouldn’t count Jolon Zhao, since we wouldn’t likely send an Asian signee to the DSL. -

That’s the 2nd indication we’ve gotten that the team is high on now-17 year old RHP Aldrin Gonzalez, who’s apparently skipping DSL ball and coming directly stateside. Here’s a note from earlier in the year: -
For the week, Carolina (5-1) and Wisconsin (4-2) were series winners, while Nashville (3-3) and Biloxi (3-3) each earned splits, with the Sounds wishing they’d held on in the clincher. Sunday’s Game Balls go to Justin Jarvis, Willy Adames, Luis Urias, Alexander Cornielle and Jackson Chourio, with honorable mentions to Felix Valerio and Eduardo Garcia. Today, don’t miss our first Monday Minor League action, as the ACL Brewers, DSL Brewers-1 and DSL Brewers-2 squads have their Opening Day. Transactions: LHP Bennett Sousa recalled to MLB Brewers from AAA Nashville RHP Jake Cousins optioned to AAA Nashville from MLB Brewers SS Willy Adames sent on rehab assignment to High-A Wisconsin Game Action: Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Charlotte 10, Nashville 8 Box Score / Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review the affiliate write-up as part of their Link Report routine: Knights Walk-Off Sounds in Heartbreaking Finish Although RHP Thyago Vieira (1 IP, 3 R, 3 H, 0 BB, 0 Ks) was charged with the loss and allowed his first earned runs allowed of 2023, the game really turned on three Sounds pitchers serving up six(!) walks in the 7th inning to allow the Knights to forge a 7-7 tie, although the final one was dubiously charged to RHP Tyson Miller (1 1/3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 0 Ks). Back to Vieira, all he did was retire the first two batters on five pitches, then break the bats of the next two hitters (single, single) before an ill-timed pitch into Adam Haseley’s wheelhouse for the 3-run walk-off blast. Haseley was a one-man wrecking crew: 4-for-4 with two walks and 4 RBIs. Three Quick Strikes: 1B Patrick Dorrian (8th home run, 2 SBs) and 3B Luis Urias (2-for-4, double, walk, 3 RBIs) did the early damage and center fielder Michael Reed (2-for-2, double, 2 walks, RBI, SB) nearly won the game with an 8th inning RBI double before things fell apart. RHP Pedro Fernandez’s (5 1/3 IP, 4 R, 8 H, 3 BB, 5 Ks, 1 WP) final line wasn’t rosy, but he stabilized things over five solid innings (73 pitches) before fading with two walks to three batters (18 pitches) in the top of the 7th inning. LHP Ethan Small (1 IP, 2 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 1 K) served as an opener, but unfortunately wasn’t effective as he searches for that essential yet elusive consistency. RHP JC Mejia (1/3 IP, 1 R, 0 H, 3 BB) also has to quickly shake off his poor relief appearance. Left fielder Skye Bolt was ejected after a 5th inning strikeout, the third Sound to take an early shower in this series. Next week’s outlook: Nashville stays on the road to play seven games (including a Wednesday doubleheader) against Marlins’ affiliate Jacksonville. Rehabbing LHP Eric Lauer is expected to start Tuesday’s opening game and be joined by rehabbing RH reliever Matt Bush. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Biloxi 6, Pensacola 5 Box Score / Game Log Via the Shuckers’ website, game details: Shuckers Win Finale against Pensacola after Dominant Start from Justin Jarvis After three affiliates had already lost heartbreakers earlier on Sunday, Biloxi won a squeaker despite being no-hit for the first five innings. You’ll find a number of video highlights at the Shuckers’ Twitter feed, but can start here with Jackson Chourio’s 3-run homer to give Biloxi a late cushion, which they ended up needing: Three Quick Strikes: RHP Justin Jarvis (7 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 6 Ks) grabbed his second win of the week, needing only 83 pitches to get through seven innings, allowing only an RBI single in the 6th inning. Down 1-0, the Shuckers finally broke through against Jonathan Bermudez with two hits and two walks to tie the game 1-1, before adding five runs against the Blue Wahoos’ bullpen the next inning. 2B Felix Valerio (2-run double) gave Biloxi its first lead, then center fielder Jackson Chourio (1-for-3, HR, walk, 3 RBIs) appeared to put the game away with a 3-run blast. Unfortunately, RHP Cam Robinson (1/3 IP, 3 R, 4 H, 0 BB, 0 Ks) is still not right, allowing four hits to the five batters he faced. Thankfully RHPs Luis Contreras and Abner Uribe were able to hold on to preserve the victory, although the fired up Uribe was ejected after the final full count strikeout, angry about a close play at the plate on a passed ball one pitch prior. Next week’s outlook: Biloxi heads on the road to take on Braves’ affiliate Mississippi just outside of Jackson. RHP Tobias Myers (5.06 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 11.1 K/9 in 48 IP) will most likely start the opening game, while rehabbing LHP Wade Miley is expected to pitch in the series finale on Sunday, June 11. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Peoria 6, Wisconsin 5 (in 10 innings) Box Score / Game Log Via the Rattlers’ website, game details: Chiefs Beat Rattlers 6-5 in Ten Innings DH Willy Adames (2-for-4, HR, double, walk, RBI) brought special excitement to 4,038 fans in Appleton, homering and playing all ten innings. Unfortunately, Peoria managed to collect a two-out hit off of RHP Taylor Floyd (2 IP, 1 R (0 ER), 1 H, 2 BB, 3 Ks) to score the Manfred Man in the top of the 10th inning, while the Timber Rattlers went 3-up, 3-down to lose the finale despite out-hitting the Chiefs 11-to-8 in the game. Find all the game highlights here from the terrific Wisconsin media team: The Chris Mehring / Kyle Lobner post-game includes a conversation with Manager Joe Ayrault. Three Quick Strikes: 21-year old RHP Alexander Cornielle (5 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 0 BB, 1 HBP, 4 Ks) turned in an encouraging performance after struggling with a 7.94 ERA in five May starts, exiting with the game tied 1-1. Unfortunately, RHP Michele Vassalotti (2/3 IP, 3 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 2 Ks) wasn’t able to follow up Alexander’s excellent work, conceding a triple, double and two walks over six hitters. Adames was in the thick of the game: 1st inning fly out, lead-off 4th inning double but stranded, 6th inning solo homer to spark comeback from 4-1 deficit, intentionally walked in 7th inning with tying run on third base (yes, the Cardinals are this petty), 9th inning fly out with game tied 5-5. After Adames’ 6th inning homer, Wisconsin reeled off four consecutive singles to tie the game 4-4, the last by SS Eduardo Garcia (2-for-5, double, 2 RBIs), who also doubled in a run in the bottom of the 8th inning to tie the game 5-5. Usual shortstop Eric Brown Jr. was absent after leaving Saturday’s game early. Next week’s outlook: Wisconsin will head to the other side of Lake Michigan to take on Tigers’ affiliate West Michigan outside of Grand Rapids. Although no opening game starter is listed, 21-year RHP Edwin Jimenez (1.91 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, 10.8 K/9 in 42 1/3 IP) is due for his turn in the rotation. Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Lynchburg 2, Carolina 1 Box Score / Game Log Via the Mudcats’ website, game details: Win Streak Ends at Seven as Mudcats Fall 2-1 Although Carolina out-hit the Hillcats 5-2 and Lynchburg also committed three errors, the Mudcats simply didn’t do enough offensively to win the finale and clinch a series sweep. The good news is that title chasers Down East also lost by a run, so the Mudcats’ retain their half-game first place lead with 16 games to play. Three Quick Strikes: Starting RHP Yujanyer Herrera (4 2/3 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 2 HBP, 4 Ks) played for the first time in 24 days, only having one poor inning (double, single, walk, hit-by-pitch in the 4th inning) as he gave his teammates a solid chance for victory. Carolina’s only run came via a SS Gregory Barrios RBI single with one out in the top of the 9th inning. Unfortunately, left fielder Hedbert Perez’s (0-for-4; AVG .143, OPS .468) miserable stretch continues as he grounded into a double play to end the contest. DH Jhonnys Cabrera collected his first hit (an 8th inning double) in Low-A ball, as he saw action for just the fourth time this year. RH relievers Jeison Pena and Yerlin Rodriguez each played with fire (combined 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 4 BB, 1 HBP, 1 WP), but didn’t concede a run. RHP Tanner Shears only needed eight pitches to retire three batters in his inning of work. Next week’s outlook: Carolina returns home to play seven games (including a Wednesday doubleheader) against Astros’ affiliate Fayetteville. Expect RHP Will Rudy (0.74 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 9.2 K/9 in 24 1/3 IP) to start the first game of the series. We hope that you enjoy the Minor League Link Report. Good luck to our Arizona Complex League squad (eyes especially on INFs Dylan O’Rae, Johan Barrios and Jhonny Severino) and two Dominican Summer League teams (including 2023 super-signings OF Yophery Rodriguez, INF Kevin Ereu and INF Filippo Di Turi) in their season debuts on Monday, June 5. Justin Jarvis went seven innings deep and Jackson Chourio blasted his eighth home run in Biloxi’s win. Willy Adames and Luis Urias shined in rehab starts, but Wisconsin and Nashville both lost in the final inning. Carolina also dropped a one-run finale. Well done with the monthly minor league awards. We’ll see if today’s Megill-Cousins bullpen adventure forces the Brewers to select Vieira’s contract. Relievers can be rather unpredictable though…

Great write-up as always. I’m guessing the Low-A First Half will end on June 22nd, halfway through a home series against Lynchburg, though I’ve not seen anything official. That’d be halfway through the the season’s 132 scheduled games. If I’m correct, then Carolina and Down East each have 18 games remaining in the First Half, which is sort of an eternity.

Rattlers were down to 26 active players before this signing (typically have 30). Looks like he shifted toward more bullpen duty last year: 97 K / 19 BB in 70.1 IP, but somehow allowed 14 HR. 26 years old -

Thursday’s Game Balls go to Blake Perkins, Luke Adams, Thyago Vieira, Ethan Murray and Jadher Areinamo, with honorable mentions to Eddy Alvarez and Felix Valerio. Transactions: RHP/1B Quinton Low activated from Low-A Carolina’s 7-day injured list OF Tyler Naquin activated from AAA Nashville’s 7-day injured list (last played April 28) OF Monte Harrison transferred to Development List from AAA Nashville Game Action: Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Nashville 10, Charlotte 7 Box Score / Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review the affiliate write-up as part of their Link Report routine: Perkins Powers Sounds To Victory The Sounds built a 7-2 lead by the 4th inning on the back of two homers by left fielder Blake Perkins (4-for-4, 2 HRs, walk, 3 RBIs), nearly squandered it all in the bottom of the 7th inning as the game tightened to 8-7, then held on for the win to give them a 2-1 series lead in Charlotte. The fans saw plenty of action as the teams combined to produce 29 hits. The road game limits our access to game highlights, but here’s RHP Thyago Vieira dominating batters from earlier contests: Three Quick Strikes: Starting RHP Caleb Boushley’s (6 2/3 IP, 5 R, 8 H, 2 BB, 5 Ks) line looked a lot better through five innings, before yielding one run in the 6th inning, then exiting after consecutive walks with two outs in the 7th inning. 3B Eddy Alvarez (2-for-5, HR, 2 RBIs) chose an excellent time to break out of his slump (.455 OPS in last 67 PAs), halting the Knights’ momentum with a home run to lead off the top of the 8th inning and push the lead back to 9-7. 1B Jon Singleton and C Alex Jackson also combined on a 6-for-10 night with two RBIs and four runs scored, while the team was happy to see right fielder Tyler Naquin (2-for-4, 2 RBIs) back in action. In a case of two pitchers trending opposite directions, RHP Tyson Miller (retired just one of five batters) had his third straight ineffective outing, while Vieira (1 2/3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 4 Ks; stranded two inherited runners in the 8th inning) pitched a five-out save to maintain his perfect 0.00 season ERA. Friday’s outlook: LHP Thomas Pannone (3.45 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 7.8 K/9 in 28 2/3 IP) is scheduled to make his sixth start as Nashville seeks a 3-1 series lead. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Pensacola 8, Biloxi 6 Box Score / Game Log Via the Shuckers’ website, game details: Biloxi Falls in A Back-and-Forth Battle Against Pensacola Biloxi unfortunately managed to lose despite outhitting first-place Pensacola 16-7, blowing leads of 3-0 (sixth inning), 4-3 (seventh inning) and 5-4 (eighth inning). SS Ethan Murray was quite confident that this blast had the distance: There are many more highlights on the Shuckers’ Twitter feed. Three Quick Strikes: This game serves as Exhibit A in explaining why starting RHP Christian Mejias (5 1/3 IP, 3 R, 3 H, 2 BB, 6 Ks) has a solid WHIP (1.24) and K/9 ratio (11.4), but an unsightly ERA (5.40). He was nearly untouchable through five innings, holding the Blue Wahoos to one single and one walk, before allowing an infield single, walk and 3-run homer in the top of the 6th inning and exiting with the game suddenly tied at 3-3. 23-year old Murray (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBIs; season OPS .797) has been turning heads with his exceptional fielding and now with his bat as well. DH/OF Tristen Lutz and 2B Felix Valerio (3-for-3, HR, HBP, RBI) each collected their first homers of the season, Carlos D. Rodriguez reached base four times, C Jeferson Quero and 1B Zavier Warren each collected two hits and 3B Tyler Black extended his on-base streak to 26 games. The bullpen of RHPs Cam Robinson, Zach Vennaro and Bo Bowman unfortunately wasn’t able to keep Pensacola down, allowing five runs in 3 2/3 innings, with each allowing at least one run. Friday’s outlook: 21-year old RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez (2.82 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, 12.5 K/9 in 44 2/3 IP) is scheduled to make his 10th start of the year, with the Shuckers needing a victory to even the series 2-2. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Peoria 3, Wisconsin 2 Box Score / Game Log Via the Rattlers’ website, game details: Speed Kills the Rattlers in 3-2 Loss Similar to their friends in Biloxi, Wisconsin outhit the Chiefs 9-to-5, but wasn’t able to convert that advantage to a victory. Thankfully, the Timber Rattlers still lead the series two games to one. As always for home games, here are detailed video highlights compiled by the Timber Rattlers’ terrific media team: You can also listen to the Chris Mehring / Kyle Lobner post-game comments here. Three Quick Strikes: Starting RHP Cameron Wagoner (5 IP, 2 R, 5 H, 1 BB, 2 Ks) shook off two months of struggle and a difficult 2nd inning (two runs on two triples and a single) to produce one of his best starts of the season, though still exited after 75 pitches with the team trailing 2-1. Although 3B Eduardo Garcia doubled and scored on an error in the bottom of the 6th inning to tie the game 2-2, RHP Luis Amaya (3 IP, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K) was ultimately tagged with the loss despite not allowing a hit in three innings of work. A walk, sacrifice bunt, stolen base and RBI groundout were sufficient to produce the Chiefs’ winning run in the top of the 8th inning. After striking out in the 2nd inning, center fielder Eduarqui Fernandez was ejected, but replacement Terence Doston went 2-for-3 to try to help the cause. Friday’s outlook: RHP Stiven Cruz (6.23 ERA in 34 2/3 IP) aims to carry the momentum from a decent last start (5 IP, 2 R, 6 Ks) and earn a win this time. Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Carolina 11, Lynchburg 5 Box Score / Game Log Via the Mudcats’ website, game details: First-Place Mudcats Win Fifth Straight 11-5 The two-team race for the Carolina League North First Half crown continues, with Carolina winning its fifth straight game and Down East grabbing its third consecutive win, keeping the Mudcats just a half-game in the lead. In this one, the Mudcats first seven batters in their lineup pounded out 15 hits, the biggest of which was undoubtedly 3B Luke Adam’s (1-for-4, HR, walk, 3 RBIs) three-run shot in the top of the 5th inning, which turned a 4-3 deficit into a 6-4 advantage which the Mudcats comfortably added to thereafter. Three Quick Strikes: Though he only pitched one inning, starting 20-year old RHP Quinton Low (1 IP, 1 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 2 Ks) was a welcome sight after missing six weeks due to injury. For now, the run allowed on an infield single is credited as earned, but that fails to account for an earlier passed ball which advanced the runner to third base. 23-year old LHP Nate Peterson (4 IP, 4 R (3 ER), 5 H, 3 BB, 2 Ks) earned his fourth win, but won’t be pleased with coughing up a 3-1 lead in the 4th inning and striking out just two batters (vs. registering at least 4 Ks in each of his first 8 games). It was an enjoyable parade of activity, as 2B Jadher Areinamo (3-for-4, double, walk) reached base four times, right fielder Kay-Lan Nicasia (2-for-4, double, walk, RBI, SB) and SS Gregory Barrios (3-for-5, 2 RBIs) three times each and center fielder Luis Lara and 1B Jesus Chirinos collected two hits each. Chirinos was pinch hit for in the 5th inning, so we’ll have to monitor his status. Friday’s outlook: RHP Logan Henderson (2.25 ERA with 15 Ks in 8 IP) is scheduled to make his fourth start of the season, with the Mudcats needing to keep winning to stay ahead of Down East. We hope that you enjoy the Minor League Link Report. We wish all the clubs success in their Friday night games. The Brewers’ full season affiliates combined to produce a whopping 57 hits on Thursday, though only managed a 2-2 split. Blake Perkins homered twice in Nashville’s win and Luke Adams produced the game-changing 3-run blast for Carolina, but Biloxi and Wisconsin unfortunately lost close games. Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Thursday’s Game Balls go to Blake Perkins, Luke Adams, Thyago Vieira, Ethan Murray and Jadher Areinamo, with honorable mentions to Eddy Alvarez and Felix Valerio. - OF/INF Noah Campbell promoted to AAA Nashville from AA Biloxi - INF Abraham Toro recalled to MLB Brewers from AAA Nashville (replacing injured Jesse Winker) - OF Roman Quinn activated by AAA Nashville from ACL Brewers - LHP Alex Claudio outrighted to AAA Nashville (where he’s already been playing) -
The promising week fizzled out with a 1-and-5 weekend. Biloxi (3-3), Wisconsin (3-3) and Carolina (2-2) each tied their series, while Nashville lost 4 of 6 games. Sunday’s Game Balls go to Joe Gray Jr., Jackson Chourio, Luke Voit, Luis Urias and Alex Jackson. Transactions: N/A Game Action: Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Iowa 14, Nashville 9 Box Score / Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review the affiliate write-up as part of their Link Report routine: Sounds Doomed By Big Innings Again In Loss The Sounds couldn’t hold leads of 2-0 in the 2nd inning and 7-5 in the 6th inning, falling in the finale despite outhitting the Cubs 15-14. At least the 11,444 fans in attendance got to see a lot of action in just under three hours of baseball. Three Quick Strikes: RHP Janson Junk’s (6 IP, 5 R, 6 H, 2 BB, 2 Ks) audition for an upcoming call up didn’t go as planned, due largely due a 4-run third inning. The good news is that he only allowed one extra base hit (a double in the 5th inning). Rehabbing 1B Luke Voit and DH/INF Luis Urias likely gave Brewers’ brass something to think about in terms of their upcoming activation, with each going 3-for-5 with one double and two singles. Voit knocked in three runs, but also struck out and grounded into a double play. C Alex Jackson (3-for-4, triple, walk) started the four-run 6th inning with a first pitch single, before LHP Darrell Thompson (2/3 IP, 3 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 0 Ks; 9.45 ERA in AAA ball) and RHP Tyson Miller (2/3 IP, 4 R, 4 H, 1 BB, 1 K, 2 WP) combined to give it all back the next inning. Thompson walked the first and last batters he faced as his AAA struggles continue, while Miller gave up three doubles in a rare terrible outing for him. Next week’s outlook: Nashville (25-25) heads on the road to face White Sox affiliate Charlotte (25-26). RHP Pedro Fernandez (2.97 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 7.6 K/9 in 33 1/3 IP) has been effective in 11 games and is expected to start the opener. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Montgomery 11, Biloxi 3 Box Score / Game Log Via the Shuckers’ website, game details: Shuckers Drop Finale to Biscuits, 11-3 Seeing a lineup without mainstays Tyler Black, Noah Campbell, Jeferson Quero and Freddy Zamora, coupled with RHP TJ Shook (3 2/3 IP, 4 R (2 ER), 3 H, 1 BB, 4 Ks) making his first start of 2023 immediately sparked the “It’s a bold strategy Cotton. Let’s see if it pays off for ‘em” meme, at least in this writer’s mind. However, center fielder Jackson Chourio (2-for-3, HR, double, RBI) was in his usual spot, delivering his 7th homer of the season, although he exited after seven innings with the team trailing 11-1 at the time. Three Quick Strikes: Clicking on the box score and article above, you’ll note that Biloxi found unique ways to turn this into a blow-out loss, committing four errors (vs. zero for the Biscuits), having both attempted basestealers thrown out, having two more runners thrown out on the basepaths and going 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position. I can imagine the 2,415 fans in attendance were not impressed. After committing three errors in the first three innings to fall behind 2-0, the real damage occurred in the five-run 4th inning. Shook started well with two Ks, before exiting after yielding back-to-back singles. LHP Nick Bennett (1 1/3 IP, 4 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 0 Ks), fresh off a fabulous outing on Tuesday (4 IP, 0 R, 7 Ks), came in to concede a full count walk, infield RBI single and grand slam to suddenly put the team in a 7-0 hole. In more positive news, C Nick Kahle broke his 0-for-22 start to the season with an infield single and added a base hit to center field later in the game. 2B Felix Valerio also collected three hits, while RHPs James Meeker and Zach Vennaro pitched two scoreless innings late. Next week’s outlook: The Shuckers (23-22) will remain home to take on first place Pensacola (the Marlins’ affiliate is 28-17). Although no starter is presently listed, it’s RHP Justin Jarvis’ (2.66 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, 10.8 K/9 in 44 IP) turn in the rotation. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Cedar Rapids 9, Wisconsin 6 Box Score / Game Log Via the Rattlers’ website, game details: Lead Slips Away in Cedar Rapids Sunday’s game featured Joe vs. the Kernels and Mr. Joe Gray Jr. (3-for-4, 2 HRs, double, 6 RBIs) truly held his own through four and a half innings: 3-run homer in the 1st inning for a 3-0 lead 2-run blast in the 3rd inning for a 5-1 advantage RBI double in the 5th inning to push the score to 6-4 Unfortunately, by the time Gray came to the plate again in the top of the 8th inning, Wisconsin trailed 9-6. With no real opportunity to play “hero”, he could only muster a fly out. Three Quick Strikes: After earning a win in Tuesday’s game, starting RHP Tyler Woessner (3 IP, 3 R (2 ER), 3 H, 2 BB, 2 Ks, 1 WP) lasted only three innings this time. Each of Woessner, RHP Ryan Brady (2 IP, 3 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 WP) and LHP Karlos Morales (1 IP, 3 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 2 Ks, 1 WP) struggled, with Morales tagged with the loss. Cedar Rapids really ran C Matt Wood ragged, stealing six bases, although Wood managed to gun down one runner in the 7th inning. 3B Ben Metzinger (1-for-2, 2 walks) was a key beneficiary of Gray’s big day, reaching base three times and scoring on each occasion. Unfortunately, the rest of the lineup went 0-for-24. Next week’s outlook: The Timber Rattlers (14-30) return home with their 3-game losing streak to battle Cardinals’ affiliate Peoria (21-24). RHP Alexander Cornielle (5.63 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, 9.8 K/9 in 32 IP) will aim to tame the Chiefs in the first game of the series. Via the Mudcats’ website, rainout details: Mudcats & Wood Ducks Canceled Sunday Sunday’s pivotal doubleheader contest for first place was unfortunately rained out, so the Mudcats retain their half-game advantage atop the Carolina League North Division. Next week’s outlook: First place Carolina (24-18) heads to Virginia to play Guardians’ affiliate Lynchburg (22-23). My guess would be that either of RHPs Yujanyer Herrera (last pitched May 21) or Will Rudy (last pitched May 23) will start the first game of the series. We hope that you enjoy the Minor League Link Report. Wishing a respectful Memorial Day to all, as the players have off on Monday. Should have happened a month ago in a swap for Hiura. Or last night for Singleton. No reason fans should have to face this day-in, day-out. Frustrating, just like last year with then-toothless Cutch & Hiura manning DH spot in September. But I assume nothing will change on this front, unfortunately. Can’t allow my expectations to rise, only to be disappointed.

Activate Urias. Option Monasterio DFA Voit, he clears waivers and stays in AAA to earn elevated minor league salary agreed in his split contract Activate Adames (God please grant him a full recovery). Odds are some other position player goes to injured list. Otherwise, option Brosseau, Turang or Wiemer. Most likely Turang to get his 2-week manipulation in Likely have to recall Janson Junk for a start in 8 days or so. Cousins or Megill gets optioned
