  1. - RHP/1B Quinton Low placed on Low-A Carolina’s 7-day injured list - 1B/C Tayden Hall placed on Low-A Carolina’s 7-day injured list - RHP Fernando Olguin activated by Low-A Carolina from Development List
  2. The AA Shuckers need a win to tie their series 2-2 with Mississippi. Solid RHP Justin Jarvis (1.59 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 12.2 K/9 in 17 IP) gets his 4th start of 2023. 1B Noah Campbell has an 8-game on-base streak.
  3. AAA Nashville has two rehabbing Major Leaguers in the lineup at home against Omaha, as it seeks a 3-1 series lead. RHP Adrian Houser makes his 3rd (and final?) rehab start, after going 4 2/3 innings scoreless last time out (6 hits, 2 Ks). 2B Abraham Toro has a 12-game hitting streak.
  4. The High-A Timber Rattlers are down 3-0 in their home series against Beloit, but have 23-year old RHP Tyler Woessner (1.69 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, 10.1 K/9 in 16 IP) going for his 4th win in 4 starts.
  5. Thursday’s Game Balls go to Nate Peterson, Luke Adams, Stiven Cruz, Ernesto Martinez and Carlos F. Rodriguez, with an honorable mention to Daniel Guilarte. Transactions: RHP JC Mejia activated by AAA Nashville from 7-day injured list C Alex Jackson placed on AAA Nashville’s 7-day injured list RHP Zach Vennaro activated by AA Biloxi from 7-day injured list RHP Gus Varland sent to High-A Wisconsin on rehab assignment RHP Royer Cabrera released by DSL Brewers-1 OF/INF Luis Watter released by DSL Brewers-1 C Juan Rosa released by DSL Brewers-1 LHP Jhofez Mejias released by DSL Brewers-1 RHP Jose Pena released by DSL Brewers-1 INF Edgardo Reyes released by DSL Brewers-2 RHP Reybert Reyes released by DSL Brewers-2 OF Francisco Nina released by DSL Brewers-2 RHP Franddy De Los Santos released by DSL Brewers-2 Game Action: Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Omaha 2, Nashville 1 Box Score / Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review the affiliate write-up as part of their Link Report routine: Sounds Slip Up in Loss to Omaha Nashville wasn’t able to string together a third straight win, despite a solid pitching effort. However, they still lead this week’s series 2-1. Three Quick Strikes: RHP Janson Junk (5 IP, 2 R, 5 H, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 3 Ks) continues to perform at a high level as he awaits his second opportunity for a spot start with the Brewers. The 27-year old is in only his second option year, so the organization won’t really be forced to keep him in the majors until 2025. Right fielder Skye Bolt continued his 3-game offensive surge, hitting a ground rule double in the bottom of the 8th inning to cut the deficit to 2-1, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and nobody out. Unfortunately, none of Keston Hiura (K), Jon Singleton (K) or Abraham Toro (walk), Cam Devanney (fly out) were able to come through in the clutch. For what it’s worth, Singleton (18-game on-base) and Toro (12-game hitting, 17-game on-base) were able to extend their streaks earlier in the game, while Hiura was 1-for-3 with a walk. As the story link details, the Sounds bullpen was solid yet again, covering four scoreless innings while striking out eight Storm Chasers. Flame-throwing 29-year old RHP Thyago Vieira (1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 Ks) made his season debut. Friday outlook: LHP Thomas Pannone is scheduled for his second attempt at his first start in the Brewers’ organization, after a rainout last week pushed him to the bullpen for his solid debut (1 2/3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 2 Ks). A victory would give Nashville a 3-1 advantage in the series. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Mississippi 2, Biloxi 1 Box Score / Game Log Via the Shuckers’ website, game details: Carlos Rodriguez Sets New Season High with Nine Strikeouts in Loss to M-Braves Through four starts thus far, Rodriguez (5 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 3 BB, 1 HBP, 9 Ks, 1 balk) is making a mockery of the offseason talk of a possible aggressive placement at AA Biloxi to start the season. He’s immediately adapted to the promotion, despite throwing just 36 1/3 innings at High-A last year, lowering his season ERA to 2.12 through 17 innings, with 25 strikeouts. The main downside to Thursday’s performance was that he required 94 pitches to scale through the five innings. In the 2nd inning, Rodriguez also showed that he’s able to “throw some glove”: Center fielder Jackson Chourio wasn’t able to extend his 5-game hitting streak, but he did knock in the team’s only run: Three Quick Strikes: A walk, two infield singles and an error led to the Braves’ second run, with RHP James Meeker tagged with the loss despite not allowing an earned run. Birthday boy (now 29) LHP Darrell Thompson (2 1/3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 1 K) kept his season ERA at 0.00 through 10.2 innings pitched. Biloxi’s offense only managed three hits (all singles) in 29 at-bats, including one from switch-hitting OF/INF Noah Campbell (1-for-2, walk; .300 AVG, 1.063 OPS in 32 PAs), who exited the game early after catching a fly out to end the top of the 8th inning. Let’s hope the versatile Campbell does not end up missing time. Right fielder Carlos D. Rodriguez extended his on-base streak to 12 games with a 2-out walk in the bottom of the 9th inning, with C Wes Clarke (1-for-2, 2 walks) moving him to 3rd base with a single. Unfortunately, DH/C Jeferson Quero grounded out to send the fans home unhappy. Friday’s outlook: Red-hot RHP Justin Jarvis (1.59 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 12.2 K/9 through 17 IP) gets the ball, with the Shuckers needing a win to even the series 2-2. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Beloit 6, Wisconsin 4 Box Score / Game Log Via the Timber Rattlers’ website, game details: Late Rally Not Enough for the Rattlers Wisconsin’s terrific media team captured the game highlights with ample video. 21-year old Cruz (5 IP, 1 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 4 Ks) continued his solid work and even exited with a 2-1 lead before handing over to Major League rehabber RHP Gus Varland (1/3 IP, 3 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 0 Ks). 1B Ernesto Martinez’s (2-for-3, HR, walk, 2 RBIs) pivotal 7th minor league season continues its ups and downs, with his potential showing through in this game: He smacked an opposite field solo homer in the 5th inning, walked and stole a base in the 7th inning (but was stranded), then singled in a run as part of the attempted rally in the bottom of the 9th inning. Three Quick Strikes: I’m guessing the Brewers will slow play Varland’s return, especially after retiring only one of five batters faced (double, two singles, walk, groundout) and taking the loss for Wisconsin on Thursday. That one batter he retired was actually the opening hitter, who smacked a dangerous line drive right back at Varland. 2B Robert Moore doubled in the 1st inning to end his 0-for-19 slump, but then proceeded to go 0-for-4 over the rest of the game, including hitting an infield popup with the tying run on second base and one out in the bottom of the 9th inning. SS Eduardo Garcia then flied out to end the game, part of his 0-for-5 effort on a difficult 4-strikeout night for the 20-year old. 3B Jose Acosta is making the most of SS Eric Brown Jr.’s absence, following up Wednesday’s 3-for-3 effort with another strong game at the plate (2-for-3, walk, RBI), although he was caught stealing in the 2nd inning and also run down in a 4th inning pickle. Here’s that scary ball back at Varland: @CMehring and @byKyleLobner also interviewed Varland before the game and recapped the loss here. Friday’s outlook: Confident 23-year old RHP Tyler Woessner (1.69 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, 10.1 K/9 in 16 IP) gets the chance to end Wisconsin’s 4-game losing streak. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel writer Curt Hogg highlighted Woessner in an article yesterday. Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Carolina 7, Kannapolis 1 Box Score / Game Log Via the Mudcats’ website, game details: Micro Brews Blast Cannon Ballers 7-1 in Zebulon 18-year old 1B Luke Adams (2-for-2, double, walk, HBP, RBI, SB) and 22-year old C Matt Wood (1-for-3, double, walk, RBI) continue to propel the Mudcats’ offense, with Adams reaching base in all four plate appearances and Wood doubling in a run in this game. Visit the Mudcats twitter handle (@CarolinaMudcats) for several more video highlights. Three Quick Strikes: Is 23-year old LHP Nate Peterson (4 2/3 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 4 BB, 5 Ks, 1 WP) following Carlos F. Rodriguez’s 2022 roadmap, turning on his domination switch after some nervous outings to start his minor league career? His second straight scoreless start is undoubtedly generating organizational excitement, after he’d yielded 8 runs in 6 innings across two relief appearances in early April. After Peterson tired in the top of the 5th inning, walking the last two batters he faced, RHP Jeison Pena (2 1/3 IP, 1 R (0 ER), 1 H, 0 BB, 2 Ks) did well to strike out intimidating 6’4”, 240lb, 24-year old Tim Elko (1.090 season OPS), retaining Carolina’s 3-0 lead. RHP Tanner Shears (2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 4 Ks) struck out the final four Cannon Ballers to earn his second save. When 2B Daniel Guilarte (2-for-5, triple, 2 RBIs, SB) reaches base, he’s running. The 19-year old stole his 10th base of 2023, but was also caught for the 3rd time. Friday’s outlook: 19-year old RHP Patricio Aquino (2.38 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, 8.7 K/9 in 11 1/3 IP) is scheduled to make his 4th start of the season, as Carolina aims to build on its 2-1 series lead at home against Kannapolis. 7. The Low-A Mudcats are battling Kannapolis and the weather this evening, aiming to grab a 2-1 lead in their home series. 23-year old LHP Nate Peterson makes his 2nd start of the year, going 4 scoreless innings (2 hits, 0 walks, 7 Ks) last time out. C Matt Wood (.293 AVG, .905 OPS in 52 PAs) has an 11-game on-base streak. We've not seen any word to explain 1B/C Tayden Hall's absence (last played 6 days ago).
  8. High-A Wisconsin is in a rut, losing 5 of their last 6 games. They look to 21-year old RHP Stiven Cruz (4.15 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 8.3 K/9 in 13 IP) to turn the tide against Beloit this evening. I'd bet 2B Robert Moore snaps his current 0-for-19 skid tonight.
  9. AA Biloxi looks for a win to take a 2-1 series lead at home over Mississippi. RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez (2.25 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 12.0 K/9 in 12 IP) makes his 4th start of 2023 tonight. 19-year old CF Jackson Chourio (.254 AVG, .740 OPS in 76 PAs) has a 5-game hitting streak.
  10. I've not seen any update on Taylor. About a week ago, Counsell had said something about how the rehab work "won't be 2 days", meaning they intend to take their time with Taylor since it's basically his spring training ramp up period. That said, I'm sure it's tempting to bring in Taylor for the 3 consecutive Angel left-handed starters. Taylor played 7 innings in right field on Tuesday, 9 innings in center field yesterday.
  11. The AAA Sounds have won two in a row at home over Omaha and go for a third with RHP Janson Junk (0.57 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, 6.9 K/9 in 15.2 AAA IP) on the mound tonight. LF Keston Hiura (.319 AVG, 1.111 OPS in 80 PAs) remains the big offensive story, homering in his last 2 games to give him 9 already this month.
  12. The AAA Sounds look to go up 2-0 in their home series against Omaha. After some struggles, RHP Caleb Boushley was solid in his last outing (5.1 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 5 Ks). 1B Keston Hiura (.294 AVG, 1.032 OPS in 76 PAs) is tied for 2nd in the International League with 8 homers (after Yankee Jake Bauers - 1.364 OPS for Scranton-WB?!).
  13. High-A Wisconsin needs a win at home today over Beloit to tie their series 1-1. 21-year old RHP Cameron Wagoner (7.43 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 7.4 K/9 in 13.1 IP) makes his 4th start of the year.
  14. The AA Shuckers, winners of 4 straight games, host Mississippi mid-day for Game 2 of this week’s series. RHP Christian Mejias (3.97 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 12.7 K/9 in 11.1 IP) gets the start. The team welcomes DH/C Jeferson Quero back for his first game in 8 days.
  15. Carolina gets us started today, aiming for a 2-0 lead over Kannapolis. 19-year old RHP Yujanyer Herrera (2.84 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, 8.5 K/9 in 12.2 IP) makes his 4th start of 2023. CF Jace Avina started slowly, but has homered in consecutive games.
  16. Jacob Misiorowski with an excellent 1st inning:
  17. Frelick is out 6-8 weeks, we’ve just learned.
  18. AA Biloxi has won two consecutive series and now hosts the Mississippi Braves this week. Terrific 24-year old RHP Tobias Myers (2.81 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, 13.5 K/9 in 16 IP) seeks his 3rd win in his 4th start. 3B Tyler Black (.250 AVG, 1.031 OPS) has reached base in all 13 games he's played in 2023.
  19. The High-A Timber Rattlers host Marlins' affiliate Beloit this week, with 22-year old RHP Joseph Hernandez (3.21 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 8.4 K/9 in 14 IP) starting the opener. DH/3B Ben Metzinger (.235 AVG, .822 OPS) has reached base in 8 of his last 9 games.
  20. Low-A Carolina has won 6 of their last 7 games, but White Sox affiliate Kannapolis has won 9 of 10 games. The two red-hot squads face off in Zebulon for this week, with 21-year old RHP Jacob Misiorowski (0.00 ERA in 2.2 IP with 4 Ks) getting his 3rd start of 2023 tonight. 19-year old (Happy Birthday yesterday!) 1B Luke Adams (.207 AVG, 1.039 OPS) homered in each game of Sunday's doubleheader.
  21. OF Tyler Naquin activated from AAA Nashville's 7-day injured list RHP Thyago Vieira assigned to AAA Nashville LHP Bennett Sousa placed on AAA Nashville's 7-day injured list LHP Jakob Brustoski transferred to Development List from Low-A Carolina
  22. AAA Nashville is home this week to take on Royals' affiliate Omaha. 23-year old LHP Robert Gasser (2.77 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 9.7 K/9 in 13 IP) starts the opener. Rehabbing Tyrone Taylor gets his first action of the season, starting in right field. 3B Abraham Toro has a 10-game hitting streak and a 15-game on-base streak.
  23. With Bush, assuming it's not a serious injury, this is the exact move I'd been hoping for. Go on the injured list. Get in the pitching lab. Figure out how to restore velocity. I hope the Claudio and Cousins moves work out. If not, guys like Tyson Miller, Lucas Erceg and Clayton Andrews are up next, I guess. As for a ripple effect in the minors, the simplest moves would be to re-activate two of JC Mejia, JB Bukauskas and/or Thyago Vieira to AAA Nashville. If there's a promotion from AA to AAA, any of Abner Uribe, Tobias Myers, Ryan Middendorf or Darrell Thompson could be considered.
  24. If there’s a merit-based promotion chain, it’s probably Matt Wood -> Alex Hall -> Tyler Black. Maybe Dylan O’Rae is waiting in the wings of Extended Spring Training to take the league by storm like Jackson Chourio did last year. One can only hope!
  25. Tyler Black and Luke Adams once again carried the Biloxi and Carolina offenses, while Alexander Vallecillo had a dominant outing. Adrian Houser and Alexander Cornielle had solid starts for Nashville and Wisconsin, though the teams dropped their finales. Image courtesy of Biloxi Shuckers Carolina recorded its first series win of 2023, 5-1 over Down East. Biloxi took its second straight series, 4-2 over Rocket City. Defeats resulted in series losses for Nashville and Wisconsin at Jacksonville and Quad Cities. Sunday’s Game Balls go to Luke Adams, Tyler Black, Adrian Houser, Alexander Cornielle and Alexander Vallecillo, with an honorable mention to Patricio Aquino. Transactions: RHP Alexander Cornielle activated from High-A Wisconsin’s 7-day injured list OF Hendry Mendez placed on High-A Wisconsin's 7-day injured list C Jhonnys Cabrera activated by Low-A Carolina from Development List LHP Jakob Brustoski transferred to Development List from Low-A Carolina RHP JC Mejia transferred to Development List from AAA Nashville Game Action: Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Jacksonville 3, Nashville 2 Box Score / Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review the affiliate write-up as part of their Link Report routine: Miscues Cost Sounds in Series Finale at Jacksonville The Sounds defense has been a noticeable weak spot through the season’s first 3.5 weeks and reared its head again on Sunday, as two errors led to two unearned runs, costing Nashville the series 3-2 in Jacksonville. Things unravelled in the bottom of the 7th inning, as 1B Jon Singleton couldn’t make the play on grounder (ruled a hit), then right fielder Skye Bolt dropped a fly ball to put two men on with nobody out. Unnerved, normally reliable RHP Tyson Miller (1 IP, 2 R (0 ER), 1 H, 2 BB, 1 K) then walked two batters as Jacksonville took a 2-1 lead. The Monte Harrison-Brewers reunion tour is off to a bad start. Along with doing nothing at the plate (0-for-4, 3 Ks; .133 AVG), the center fielder had a costly late inning error for the second time in just four games played. This time, a one-out single in the 8th inning advanced to second base on his throwing gaffe, later scoring on a sacrifice fly to give the Jumbo Shrimp their 3-2 final advantage. RHP Cam Robinson (2/3 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 0 Ks; 7.71 ERA) took the loss. Three Quick Strikes: Rehabbing RHP Adrian Houser (4 2/3 IP, 0 R, 6 H, 0 BB, 2 Ks) was solid if not spectacular in throwing 69 pitches (46 strikes) over nearly five scoreless innings, yielding six singles and zero walks. I’d imagine the Brewers would like to give him one more AAA rehab outing, but Houser’s activation to the 26-man MLB roster may come sooner if there’s a pitching shakeup. 2B Cam Devanney (1-for-3, HR, walk, RBI), left fielder Keston Hiura (3-for-4) and C Payton Henry (2-for-3, walk) were bright spots for the offense, with Devanney smacking his first homer of 2023. Henry led off the 9th inning with a single, but the team was unable to bring the tying run home. On the down side, Hiura was also caught stealing and struck out with two-on, nobody out in the top of the 8th inning. Another positive sign was the season debut of 28-year old LHP Thomas Pannone (1 2/3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 2 Ks; 12 strikes in 15 pitches), who covered the middle innings in this game. He’ll likely serve as a lefty long man, giving the organization some depth in light of Aaron Ashby’s absence and Ethan Small’s move to the 'pen. Next week’s outlook: Nashville (10-10) returns home to face Royals’ affiliate Omaha (8-11). 23-year old LHP Robert Gasser (2.77 ERA in 13 IP) is scheduled to start the opener on Tuesday. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Biloxi 7, Rocket City 3 Box Score / Game Log Via the Shuckers’ website, game details: Chourio, Black Lead Shuckers to Series Win against Trash Pandas Rocket City got off to a fast start in the series finale, but starting LHP Adam Seminaris (5 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 2 BB, 6 Ks) eventually settled down before 3B Tyler Black (1-for-3, HR, walk, HBP, 3 RBIs) turned the contest on its head with one big swing. In the top of the 9th inning, center fielder Jackson Chourio (2-for-5, double, 3 RBIs) broke open the tense 4-3 affair with a bases clearing double, pulling a 99mph pitch from the Trash Pandas wild reliever. Clutch Chourio now has 14 RBIs in just 15 games on the season, though his .250 AV, .732 OPS and 27.9% K-rate reveal some work to do. Three Quick Strikes: It took Seminaris 2.5 games to find some semblance of his quality form, but hopefully it’s fully clicked now for the 24-year old. Down 3-1 in the bottom of the 2nd inning, he proceeded to retire eight straight batters before working around a full count walk and infield single in the bottom of the 5th inning. RHP Ryan Middendorf (2 IP, 3 Ks) and LHP Darrell Thompson (2 IP, 4 Ks) were also lock down in this game, eliminating all twelve batters they faced. These hurlers have proven to be some amazing signings from independent ball. The battle for Biloxi’s second base job is not exactly heating up: Felix Valerio (.143 AVG, .476 OPS), Isaac Collins (.160 AVG, .582 OPS), Ethan Murray (.177 AVG, .516 OPS). Valerio was hit by pitch and later scored as part of the 9th inning in this game, somehow leading to the ejection of Rocket City’s pitching coach. Next week’s outlook: Biloxi (9-6) hosts the Mississippi Braves (5-10), with RHP 24-year old Tobias Myers (2.81 ERA in 16 IP with 24 Ks) expected to start the first game of the series. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Quad Cities 9, Wisconsin 2 Box Score / Game Log Via the Timber Rattlers’ website, game details: Bandits Bash Their Way Past Wisconsin Wisconsin dropped back to a losing season record with Sunday’s pummelling, but don’t blame starting 21-year old RHP Alexander Cornielle (4 IP, 1 R, 4 H, 1 BB, 6 Ks) who exited with the score tied 1-1. Three Quick Strikes: Two prior solid outings for 24-year old LHP Russell Smith (1 2/3 IP, 4 R, 6 H, 2 BB, 2 Ks; 4.32 ERA) fell by the wayside on Sunday, as 8 of 13 River Bandit hitters reached base and he took the loss. C/OF Alex Hall (2-for-4, double; 1.149 OPS) played left field in this game, continuing to hit and even gunning down a runner at home to keep it a 1-0 game in the 3rd inning. SS Eric Brown Jr. (0-for-3, walk, SB; .102 AVG, .287 OPS) can’t buy a hit at the moment (I’ll blame swing adjustments for the entire season if I have to), but one cannot fault his effort in other facets. He walked, stole second, advanced to third base on an error and scored on a wild pitch in a very active 4th inning before the game went awry. Next week’s outlook: The Timber Rattlers (7-8) head home to face Marlins’ affiliate Beloit (10-5), seeking revenge after losing the season opening series on the road. RHP Joseph Hernandez (3.21 ERA in 14 IP) is scheduled to make his fourth start in the opener. Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Game One Final: Carolina 3, Down East 2 (in eight innings) Box Score / Game Log Game Two Final: Carolina 4, Down East 3 (in seven innings) Box Score / Game Log Via the Mudcats’ website, game details: Adams and Avina Homer as Mudcats Sweep Twin-Bill After squandering a late lead in their last game, the Mudcats squeaked out two victories to impressively take the road series at Down East 5-1. The teams combined for just seven hits over eight innings in the opening game, with Carolina registering none from the second through the sixth innings. However, 3B/1B Luke Adams (2-for-6, 2 HR, walk, 3 RBIs on the day; .207 AVG, 1.038 OPS) did the early damage with a 2-run, 1st inning blast. 19-year old RHP Patricio Aquino (3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 0 Ks) didn’t get the strikeouts, but only needed 26 pitches to get through three innings in the opening game. C Blayberg Diaz came through late with an RBI single to score the ghost runner in the top of the 8th inning. In the night cap, 20-year old RHP Alexander Vallecillo (4 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 7 Ks) dominated and the team led comfortably 4-1 before hanging on for dear life in the 6th and 7th innings. Three Quick Strikes: Hitting 10-for-52 would not get it done on most days, but Down East wasn’t any better in going 9-for-52. Up and down the lineup, many of the batting averages are unfortunately weak: Barrios .175, Perez .108, Fernandez .216, Avina .121, Parra .160, Areinamo .171, Nicasia .067, Diaz .182. OF Jace Avina (1-for-5, HR, walk, 2 RBIs, but with 4 Ks on the day) did manage to hit his first home run of 2023, however. RHPs Miguel Guerrero (1 IP, 2 Ks) and Jeison Pena (2 IP, 5 Ks) took care of the K department, striking out seven Wood Ducks over three hitless, scoreless innings to close it out, although Pena hit two batters to load the bases alongside the ghost runner. In a similarly stressful close to the second game, RHP Tyler Wehrle (2 IP, 2 ER, 2 Ks) stranded the tying run at second base in the penultimate inning, then RHP Tanner Shears (1 IP, 2 Ks) allowed a double and a walk before striking out the final batter to end the doubleheader sweep. RHP Aidan Maldonado (2 IP, 2 R (0 ER), 2 H, 2 BB, 1 K) had an uncharacteristically challenging day in the opening game, balking in a run and giving up an infield RBI single to tie it, though was helped out when a second runner tried and failed to score on that infield single. Next week’s outlook: The Mudcats (8-6) return home to take on White Sox affiliate Kannapolis (10-4). Tuesday’s starter is unclear, though RHPs Edwin Jimenez or Jacob Misiorowski look like the safest bets. We hope that you enjoy the Minor League Link Report!
