    Yeah, I never saw him play and have never even really considered his career in that aspect, so I can't say much there, but I always thought he was a very entertaining announcer when I was a kid and they broadcast Yankees games in Tampa.

    I think that Batch 5 is huge...of the road trips I'm hoping for 3-3 on that West Coast swing and hopefully 3-4 on that second to last week, and I think the Cubs will do about the same, but I think with our issues along the Ohio and Alleghany Rivers Batch 5 could really be a potential meltdown, and I'd take 2-4 there

    Well, now that I actually read the article after commenting (like BrettAC), it actually does sound like there'd be a lot in there worth checking out. Off to Amazon I go. Hardcover, too...nice.

    As a Brewer fan who has lived almost everywhere but Wisconsin since I was a young boy, I can tell you that Selig is one of the very first things people crack on me about when they find out I'm a Crew fan. I always tell them they better be glad Wendy or Laurel weren't made commissioner.

I think given April 1st expectations, a winning season and a September playoff chase would absolutely not be a disappointment, and it's still an extremely real possibility. Given May 10th expectations (or at the least, hopes), those benchmarks are definitely somewhat disappointing. An August fade and a losing season is a major disappointment however you look at it.

    Cross-posted from today's IGT: This isn't a Season Over post, although it sounds like it. Sunday evening I mentally conceded that the Brewers will not make the playoffs, and I honestly feel much better now. Last week this game would have had me banging my head on my desk, but thanks to my lower expectations, my mental health and interpersonal relationships are on the mend. Now please surprise me the rest of the way out, Brewers. If not, we cool.

    I had a bad vibe about that guy from the very start. Bottom line, it's not about prejudice or any of that--it's about dealing with an avatar that was making people uncomfortable because of the slur connotations, not the actual intent of the poster. It would be no different than if an African-American poster had an avatar featuring the n-word or a homosexual poster had one with the f-word. They may have noble intentions of reappropriating the word, but it's inappropriate for this particular forum . It was my understanding that you didn't base your request to remove the avatar on anything other than that. You guys handled it fine and actually gave him more leeway than he deserved.

    I admitted that I was a little harsh and said I thought he was a Cubs troll. I assumed it was over. He responds two hours later by writing an indignant screed the length of War and Peace. Frankly, I'm glad it was locked because I'm in no mood to argue backa nd forth with a guy who accuses people of "racism" and prejudice because they think an avatar that prominently features the word "Jewboys" (which, yes, despite whatever appropriation by Jews, is often used as a slur) is questionable.
