  1. It was on the Sounds website...I posted it earlier in the thread although it might be down now. Edit: Here it is: http://www.nashvillesounds.com/images/players/hardy.jpg And I can't believe it's actually influencing people's views on the situation; I just thought it was funny. It's just a picture, not necessarily a Rorshach Test. I mean, look at this pouty crybaby Robert Hinton: http://www.nashvillesounds.com/images/players/hinton.jpg Or whiny jerk Joe Koshansky: http://www.nashvillesounds.com/images/players/koshansky.jpg Look at this sighing entitled baby! Lip up, Mat! http://www.nashvillesounds.com/images/players/gamel.jpg If these whiny, pouty, entitled children were so great, they wouldn't be in AAA ball with their whiny baby frowns!!! Stop yer cryin', Nashville Sounds, or Brewerfan will give you something to cry about!
  2. I know this thread is a dogpile, but come on...he took a key 9th inning 2-out walk in his only at-bat. Personally, yeah, JJ has stunk up the joint this season, but if the point was to improve what has ailed Hardy, then leave him down there until September 7th when the Sounds' season ends. Like dlk9s said, it's not like he's earned his way back. Bringing him back right after the 20 days does reek of them working the system (which isn't against the rules, of course) to make him more tradeable, and I don't blame Hardy for getting a little chapped by that. It's not about "feelings," it's basically gonna end up costing him a big chunk of change. Now we're in a situation where Escobar is back to having to split time he could use to develop, JJ is back to splitting time (and at the MLB) level he could use to improve, and I believe the Brewers' organization is going to get a bit of a black eye among players. If they sent him down to improve, leave him down there.
  3. I don't really get them starting JJ tonight either, although I didn't understand at all not leaving him down there until the 7th if the point was ostensibly to improve what ails him this season and not merely work the system to job some service time to make him more tradeable. Don't get me wrong, JJ's been pretty bad this year, but I'm really disappointed in the Brewers right now: for JJ, for Escobar, and for this team's future.
  4. Yep, not to mention the money the Brewers still owe him--I have to think any deal would be mostly salary relief
  5. According to MLB Trade Rumors I was kinda hoping to see Cam back for another year next season, as I think he's a great veteran leader, but with the heating-up (OK, relatively speaking) of Gerut with more playing time and even Bourgeois, not to mention the FA market I'm inclined to think "Why not?" if there's a halfway decent deal.
  6. Word on KNBR out here is that the Giants just signed him; he'll take Joe Martinez' place in the rotation.
  7. I'm still enjoying myself, relatively. I was into today's game--I pumped my fist and gave a holler when they walked a run in with Soup at the plate--and I liked seeing them sweep the Pirates. That said, after the game I watched the Giants-Rockies, and I didn't enjoy myself today nearly as much as the fans at AT&T Park did when Renteria hit that GS and the Giants swept the Rockies to pull into a WC tie. There's definitely more enjoyment in cheering for a winning team in the playoff chase.
  8. Glad to see the Brewers put the Pirates back in their place this series...they're gonna get tougher and tougher to sweep
  9. Nice to have a really fast guy on the team, eh? Man, look at Escobar go there. Now hopefully they get something out of it.
  10. Thanks again, Brian, and all Brewerfan contributors
  11. I'm not entirely sure they weren't truly interested; the Giants are only three back of the Rockies for the WC, with six head-to-head to be played, and Brian Wilson has very often been a heart-attack in the 9th this year.
  12. Yeah. It's pretty crummy that the Brewers and Hardy are in a position where people have to worry about "looking shady." I wish JJ could've gotten it together so they could've brought him back before the deadline. Now, well...despite how hard it is for JJ payday-wise, there are valid reasons to keep him down there. If he's not coming back before the deadline, he needs to stay there through the 7th in order to get (or at least attempt to get) what was intended out of his Nashville foray. Frankly, if he had gotten it together and they still kept him down past the 20 days, I'd have been disappointed in the Crew (and you better believe players around the league and elsewhere would've taken note)...it just strikes me as bad faith, regardless of the system and the rules.
  13. What would make you think this happy camper isn't enjoying himself down there? http://www.nashvillesounds.com/images/players/hardy.jpg
  14. Fake rally. This team is just....blah right now. This also officially means we enter that brutal September under .500. I had hopes for 82 wins, but this is gonna be the losing team they've been.
  15. Man that seems a long time ago. I liked the story behind the untuck, but yeah, it seems to have jumped the shark when you're below .500 in late August.
  16. Hits close to home. And I was all set to rage on Mike Burns, too. I know there's a lot of anti-Macha sentiment lately, but there's not much he can do when Stetter comes in and plunks his man.
  17. Yeah, so even though they lost, there was that
  18. Yeah, I had so much fun last night in the chat and in that 9th inning I almost thought the Brewers won when I woke up this morning. Has there been any word about Stetter's health? Because I'm hardly anti-Macha but Coffey coming out for a third like that if Stetter was available was confounding.
  19. Well, the strong possibility of Lopez' injury after pulling up lame this evening means Escobar's probably gonna see a lot more playing time regardless of whether Craiggers gets dealt or not. (It obviously puts the kibosh on any deal for Lopez, too.) I'd like to see the hometown guy retire a Brewer, but I can understand if he had to go and I'm sure he would, too. He probably wouldn't mind going for World Series #3, either. I'd really rather see Cameron here next year as well--top fielder, decent bat, veteran leadership.
  20. I don't want to burst your bubble or anything, but if we go 4-2, we'll only be at .500. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Yeah, I'm losing it. I guess simple arithmetic is out of my grasp at this point. At any rate, I'll take it.
  21. Yeah, this win made me happier than I expected, esp. given my Negative Nancy act earlier. I thought they were gonna waste another Yo start and miss out on a series win. Nice, I'll take both. Dare I say it, if they go a doable 4-2 at MP against the Reds and Pirates this week they'll start September above .500.
  22. Have to admit I expected to see Jody Gerut get his first Brewers' HR before Alcides Escobar, but congrats anyway...hope he can hit a few more before his time with the Crew is done.
