  1. Jeez, that'd be a primary reason my wife would want separate beds. Some people sleepwalk. Me, I've a bad habit of "wandering hands" at inopportune times, like 3:30 AM on a Monday night. She's got a nickname for it in fact, it's--well, this is a family website.
  2. Haha, yes, I envy you. I've told my wife I can't wait until we get old when it's more socially acceptable to have separate beds! We're just not good bed-mates! Enjoy it, I think there's absolutely nothing wrong with it (although some people will think it's some kind of reflection on the state of your relationship) and in fact will make your married lives much better because you'll be better rested and have one less daily schism out of your relationship.
  3. Yeah, their indgnance at the untucked jerseys is the biggest question mark. I don't know how that shows up the other team any more than high-fives or a handshake line, but I guess when your skin is made of rice-paper almost anything will offend you.
  4. Joaquin Andujar was hardly the acme of class, either. This is standard: the loser on the field always looks for the moral high ground. We do the same thing.
  5. My vent is nothing tactical or worthwhile, I just get annoyed that every time the board gets in a lather (the playoff threads and other unbridled enthusiasm this morning; the feeling and attitude here before the disastrous 1-6 homestand), it seems like the team's performance then pulls the rug out. I guess I'd like it if either 1. we'd temper it when things seem to be going well or 2. they'd fulfill our confident hopes. Obviously #2 is much preferable.
  6. Well, this loss, while a stomach-punch, is not devastating to the Brewers' playoff hopes. It is, however, huge for the Cards'. Should've knocked these whiners out while we had them down.
  7. Of course it's not the end of the world but given they had them on the ropes for what could have been a practical killshot for the season and then coughed it up late (not to mention falling back against the Cubs), it's wildly disappointing. There's a huge swing between 3 1/2 and 5 1/2
  8. This game was lost when our big meat couldn't drive a run in with one out and men on first and third.
  9. I don't have much advice to offer here, but every time I'd drive up to my folks' place in Vernon County I'd stop at Ella's Deli in Madison for lunch. Not the most amazing four-star restaurant, but a really fun place to eat some tasty sandwiches and a poundcake sundae with a chocolate phosphate. I loved it as a kid and I enjoy it now.
  10. Man oh man, I live out in California now and miss me some "Rockton chicken"! Every summer weekend that I'd come up and visit from Chicago we'd go over to Rockton and settle in for some BBQ bird with the bikers. I'm partial to dollar beers at the River's End in Ontario myself, though!
  11. My folks live in Ontario, I knew you might appreciate a good old fashioned Kickapoo Valley joke
  12. it's kinda like just mentioning Ned or the Cubs in a thread about something else...the '82 team is a bit of a hot-button! Anyway, I don't think it's possible with the Philly/Chicago roadtrip, but they'll come awfully close.
  13. Cubs have only three games left against teams with less than .500 records. But yeah, the Brew Crew missed their golden opportunity in terms of the division to take 3 of 4 or even split at MP last month. (Edit: Or, you know, one lousy win) They're looking tough and workman-like, no doubt. Hopefully the Brewers can meet raise them another Pirates sweep this weekend (!), but I'll take 2 of 3!
  14. St. Louis was brutalized with injuries this year and was already left with a talent level lesser than what the Brew Crew had. I forgot to include TLR there initially since the Cards are always contenders, but given the scraps he's had to work with this year it's remarkable that they're even in it this late and a testament to the ship he runs (better than he drives, at least)
  15. Thanks for that Fido...it's very reassuring, especially given the Brew Crew's schedule versus the competition's (for the Wild Card, at least). That said, I do think we need to go at least 17-13 down the stretch to assure that playoff spot--at the very least. It's hard to forget the NL East race/Rockies last year, although those were historic anomalies.
  16. Yeah, I can imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth we'll hear around here if the Brewers win the wild card and they don't get homefield advantage against a lesser team in the opening round. But I guess history dictates that hasn't been as much of a hindrance for the wild card teams. Man oh man, I feel like there have been a lot of "counting chickens before they hatch" threads here lately, but it's hard not to be excited.
  17. I have to admit that I laughed when I saw the thread title I don't believe he's as awful as his reputation would dictate but I do think his management decisions has led to more losses than wins. I think it could be Jerry Manuel or Lou Piniella.
  18. The People's Republic of Hillsboro No?
  19. I really like the new logo too (well, at least the font and the hat), and am glad we might see some positive history made with it.
  20. Thank God there's at least one other Brewer fan who feels the same way. Plenty of people here feel that way. At any rate, I don't think wearing the old logo means one is "celebrating" the 1982 team any more than an Astros fan wearing a throwback rainbow jersey is celebrating Nolan Ryan. Some people just like the old school look.
  21. I don't know if I'm happy or sad that this Brewers team has already, with 30 games to go, tied or surpassed the win total in 25 of the franchise's 38 previous seasons in Milwaukee.
  22. After tonight's battle I hope the Phillies sweep the series and don't look back in the division. I prefer our chances to do some damage against the Mets at home.
  23. One side is giving me relevant quantifiable numbers, the other is talking about the win statistic and "luck" evening out I'm pro-Sheets.
