  1. I am shocked. SHOCKED by this signing! I thought Stearns wanted to spend more time with his family?
  2. Why would you be on a Brewers website owned by a Twins fan? In my opinion the fandom of person owning the website or writing an article does not make their work with regard to the Brewers illegitimate. With regard to the topic at hand, while I never pitched professionally, I was a pitcher in several amateur leagues (both youth and over 18). I had one catcher who was squirrely as hell behind the plate. It was very distracting to my concentration and accuracy. I can totally see how Contreras' pre-pitch movements could cause issues for a pitcher. Personally, I'd like to go back to the days of getting one in ear hole if you were flashing signs from 2B.
  3. Well, the trade scuttled the Brewers chance to make the playoffs in 2022. So there's that to consider.
  4. You are trying to protect people who choose not to be protected. Their choice, their risk, their problem.
  5. This is what the article above was arguing for: That's just stupid. Players can sit in the dugout where there is a screen in front of them and there is no chance of ball hitting them. Many choose not to sit in those areas, which is fine, because they have assumed the risk. But here comes the nanny with a helmet for them to wear in the dugout.
  6. The wimpification of America continues. Why not shut the sport down and avoid all chance of injury to anyone?
  7. I think they should start using squishy balls like they do in T-ball. And they should use protective screens for the pitcher like they do in batting practice. I would also recommend that hitters start wearing full motorcycle helmets for added protection. And a throat guard for their neck.
  8. Manfred burned his credibility with 1/2 of the politicians in the country when he moved the All-Star game out of Atlanta for political reasons. If anyone thinks his presence in Wisconsin will help get tax dollars allocated to the park, you'd best rethink that position. I guarantee he hurt the Brewers cause more than he helped it.
  9. Billy Beane in full tank mode. Wherever he is, Sam Hinkie is smiling.
  10. Good for the A's. They've needed to get out of Oakland for years.
  11. It depends on whether you live in or out of market. Out of market fans have the option of MLB.tv, which is a great value even at full price ($150 per season to get every MLB game that is outside your home market).
  12. The owner of the website brought up the issue. I would say that makes it fair game to discuss.
  13. Agreed. I have no interest in walking around downtown Milwaukee. I worked down there for 9 years (which ended in 2015) and I'd be happy to never return. My preferred pre-game activity is tailgating--not window shopping or dodging gunfire. It's cheap, fun, and delicious and the Brewers parking lot set up is great for that. For in-park food I carry in peanuts and water.
  14. I take it from that Stearns didn't want the job.

  16. It's obvious he wants to leave. Why pay the guy to do basically nothing? Just let him go.

  18. The guy was non-tendered by a team that won 69 games last season. I find it hard to get excited about that kind of player...
  19. Rather than extend him, I would trade him right now to the Dodgers (assuming the Dodgers have interest--and I think they do). The Dodgers have plenty of prospects to spare. The Brewers could bridge to Brice Turang with someone like Elvis Andrus or Jose Iglesias or Jean Segura.
  20. I think Stearns was hamstrung by MA's budgetary constraints. I also think that's a major reason why he's playing out the string as an advisor for his last year and then moving on greener pastures.
  21. Since when do the Brewers worry about clubhouse culture?
  22. The Brewers should encourage Yelich to spend his off-seasons with Ryan Braun. Might get better production.
  23. I don't disagree with what Lauer said. But I've worked with many executives in my time and many do not take kindly to criticism and will orchestrate the complainers departure.

  25. I'm sure the front office would like to get him out of town. They surely don't appreciate the verbal attacks.
