  1. I am shocked. SHOCKED by this signing! I thought Stearns wanted to spend more time with his family?
  2. JV just got a 10%+ raise in pay by moving from New York to no state income tax Texas.
  3. The people crapping on this trade need to forget about fantasy baseball and join the real world. This was a solid move. Not earth-shaking but it made the Brewers a better team on both offense and defense for a very reasonable cost.
  4. Santana at 1st and Hiura at DH would be a pretty low cost way to add some juice to the lineup right now.
  5. They want him to play outfield vs. LHP. And I guarantee he's going to be energized and play better going back to the Dodgers. He is beloved there and he loves playing there.
  6. Since they are not going to bring him up they should release him to get a fair look from another team. At this point they are just wasting everyone's time.
  7. YOU'RE NOT REQUIRED TO POST STUPID RESPONSES BECAUSE YOU DISAGREE WITH SOMETHING SOMEONE POSTS.
  8. OP raised a valid question and gets multiple snarky and worthless posts in return. People here need to grow up. Does anyone know what the status of Arnold's contract is? While I don't think there's a chance he follows Stearns to the Mets to play second fiddle again, it's not out of realm of possibility another higher spending team might be interested in poaching him for their top baseball ops job if his contract is up.
  9. While digging around on the topic I found this enjoyable article from the Denver Post looking for the seat the ball hit. https://extras.denverpost.com/nine-innings/inning6.html
  10. Well that's a start toward making the team better.
  11. Yes, his .681 OPS will fit right in at DH for the Brewers.
  12. Winker's past performance is of less predictive value because of a cervical injury that required surgery. And then a post-surgery stint on the IL due to a "cervical strain." Not good. If the Brewers had healthy, non-cervical injury Winker, I highly doubt Winker would be this bad. I also doubt he's going to suddenly get truly healthy in the middle of the 2023 season.
  13. I disagree. I'm also not sure what your post adds to the discussion. Let's focus on the Brewers and their players.
  14. If this were Fantasy Baseball Ruiz would have some positive value. But thankfully the Brewers play in the real world.
  15. I love looking back at Brewers trades, both short term and long term, to see how they play out. We are now just past the mid-point of the 2023 season and both Contreras (68 games played) and Ruiz (85 games played) have been regular starters. The score is: Contreras: 1.4 WAR Ruiz: -0.1 WAR (baseball reference) #winning
  16. 2016 Chris Carter would look like an All-Star compared to garbage production the Brewers have gotten from the DH position this year. I don't think anyone is saying Keston Hiura is a great hitter or that he has a bright future. People are saying he's better than the trash currently getting PA's at DH this year and he needs to be on the roster and in the lineup for that reason.
  17. Why would you be on a Brewers website owned by a Twins fan? In my opinion the fandom of person owning the website or writing an article does not make their work with regard to the Brewers illegitimate. With regard to the topic at hand, while I never pitched professionally, I was a pitcher in several amateur leagues (both youth and over 18). I had one catcher who was squirrely as hell behind the plate. It was very distracting to my concentration and accuracy. I can totally see how Contreras' pre-pitch movements could cause issues for a pitcher. Personally, I'd like to go back to the days of getting one in ear hole if you were flashing signs from 2B.
  18. The thread title misleading. It says Willy's OBP is .289, which was accurate as of July 29, 2022. But now, nearly a year later, Willy has raised his OBP all the way to .291. Take that haters!!!!
  19. Are you the Hiura police? Give it a rest. rickh150 is posting Keston Hiura updates in a Keston Hiura thread. The horror!
  20. Well, the trade scuttled the Brewers chance to make the playoffs in 2022. So there's that to consider.
  21. I would be shocked if Stearns WASN'T the POBO for the Mets in 2024 and I would be shocked if Craig Counsell WAS the manager of the Mets in 2024. CC doesn't strike me as the New York type and he basically has lifetime employment with the Brewers if he wants it. I could see him taking some kind of advisory role with the Brewers that would allow for more time off and still put some money in his pocket. And leave the door open to return to managing the team at some point in the future.
  22. The Trent Grisham trade has been a rollercoaster. There was a time it looked like the Brewers made out like bandits with Urias and Lauer. Now, not so much.
