  1. Hold or not That was extremely predictable. Question will be if the Brewers can retake and hold the lead for win #9.
  2. The air is thinner in Denver so spin will have less effect on movement of the ball. And so will the 10% drop in his spin rate he's shown lately.
  3. I for one am officially concerned about Burnes and the spin rate issue. He more than any of our other pitchers.
  4. Not sure what type of errors he was making with the Padres but the volume of errors at short are about the same so I'd imagine the answer is yes. He was probably a 2B for a reason.
  5. I don't think any conclusions can be drawn yet one way or the other. But you take somebody like Bauer who was mostly a decent pitcher with a career 4.04 ERA going into 2020. But in 2020, his 4-seam spin rate went from 2410 to 2779 and he wins a Cy Young award. This year his spin rates were about the same as 2020 through his first 12 starts and he gave up 40 hits in 76.1 IP. Clearly his spin rate was down his last two starts and he gave up 15 hits in 12.1 IP. That's a small sample size but still pretty interesting. I'll admit spin rates aren't going to turn Yardley into Peralta but I suspect it helps already very good pitchers take their top quartile spin rates to levels that really create an unfair advantage.
  6. My one Brewers game in Colorado had Yovani come in with a 2.55 ERA and leave with a 4.20 ERA in a 19-4 drubbing. I was out after 4 innings (16-2).
  7. Do you really need to see him make a throw when he was hit on his non-pitching hand? And barely at that.
  8. I'd say he can't be any worse than some of the guys that have been playing but sadly, he probably isn't any better either. Another guy like Lopes that wasn't even hitting well in the minors.
  9. I agree these pitchers have nothing to whine about. MLB issued a warning in the spring and it appears that the vast majority of pitchers just chose to ignore that warning and in some (many?) cases just upped their cheating with even better products. With so many obvious violations by pitchers, MLB has really cracked down on it. Pitchers should have done that in the first place. As far as Glasnow saying it was a contributing factor in his injury, I think that is completely bogus. His spin rates weren't even down in his last start.
  10. The Reds look like the far better team to me if Castillo is back to being himself.
  11. Villar had a .261/.315/.377 slash line for us in '18. Not great but I would take if over half the guys in our lineup today. Agreed on Villar. I always thought that trade was stupid as I felt Villar was a much better fit due to his versatility, speed, etc.
  12. I guess I'd have a hard time calling a #3 hitter slugging .385 even a good hitter.
