  1. I'd bet 2 whole dollars that 7 runs will not win this game.
  2. Looks like the Cubs are giving us a refund for the dodgy D and cheap hits.
  3. Hahah. I looked. Also too bad about that wasp getting to Brock Beauchamp!
  4. Although I get no joy from Hader doing poorly, he did (though he did not get the L).
  5. I'd been relying on you guys and the ESPN play by play. ESPN still shows that Happ reached, but I gather that call was overturned. Time to turn on the radio.
  6. Is the infield grass 6 inches deep today? Many IF hits.
  7. Maybe they need to quit that weird bending backwards thing.
  8. I am unable to watch, but it seems like Ashby is poor all around today, many hits, 2 wild pitches, and a lame defensive play not covering 1B. Izzat about it?
  9. I hoped for a 3-1 series win, realistically I think; but a win is always good!
  10. While listening, I was busy failing to fix an old bike's rear hub. The win compensated for my abject failure (and I looked a a bunch of YouTube videos!)
  11. Good thing we're not facing Kershaw. <irony alert>
  12. And now they even have a blind 70-something singer playing catcher! Oh wait. It's not "Jose" Feliciano?! Never mind.
  13. I am not auditioning for GM or manager. (Heck, I had to google "LOOGY," and I don't know what half of the new 21st Century stat abbreviations mean!) But my reductionist mind suggests that Counsell doesn't have a clear idea of how to use his stable of slightly-better-than-mediocre players. The one easy decision he once had --Hader in the 9th-- is gone. And whoever he puts in the batting order seems like the wrong choice. He seems to stick with 'slumpers' (e.g., Adames, Yelich, Urias?), but he shows no long-term confidence in guys like Hiura, who show a spark but never get a chance to get into a groove. Maybe CC can't stop second-guessing himself; maybe he is clueless or lacks confidence; maybe he is burned out; maybe he is thinking too much; I definitely don't know. I just know that I see a team with no solid core other than 2 or 3 starting pitchers who must dish out near-perfection in each game or lose 2-1 (figuratively speaking, but sometimes literally). The Cards at least have 2 guys (Goldschmidt, Arenado) about whom other teams say "Oh $#!+, here they come." The Brewers have EXACTLY NOBODY who scares opposing pitchers. If this team stumbles into the "post-season," it'll probably be a cameo appearance. It just ain't got no fire.
  14. I voted without thinking too much, i.e., not at all, really. ? Good question, though, and no simple easy correct answer.
  15. Runner at 3rd, nobody out, 2 strike outs. No runs. Bad bad baseball.
  16. Those throws to get their guys out at 3d and 2d in the 10th were brilliant! First Tellez to 3d and then Caratini to get the guy stealing; so Devin faces 2 batters and gets 3 outs!? That's just really cool.
  17. And it looks like they played some sparkling defense, too, (though I did not see the whole thing)
  18. The ultimate doomsday conclusion may be a bit harsh, but the rationale that Stearns made a humongous mistake certainly seems SPOT ON, and Attanasio rather passively confirmed that this was a "major league" screw up. I hope CC can rally the players to overcome the screwup.
  19. I used to think that the typical Brewer loss was 2-1. I was wrong, but this is not better.
