  1. Career high strikeouts by opposing pitcher. Sounds familiar.
  2. I guess we'll need 4 or 5 solo HRs to win this one. Let's do it!
  3. That sort of play is an example of how you know your team is not committed. In any level of any sport.
  4. Let’s just call him Costanza from now on.
  5. Maybe we should have started the Jason Alexander who played George Costanza.
  6. One thing you can be sure of: the baseball establishment will NEVER shorten the game by reducing the time for advertising.
  7. I suspect and hope you are right about the shift ban not being severe in practice. Maybe we will see defenses in motion. But I am staunchly against the shift ban in principle, as you suggest. I would rather see the batters bat against the shift. If small ball was dying, the shift ban may have killed it. At least the batters will not care about directional hitting (as if they do now). Hitting it hard will still be all that matters. I think small ball is exciting and interesting. And unless your team is hitting the homer, that's an intrinsically boring play: swing, crack, and -play over- everybody just watches the ball. It really does remind me of how cricket is changing to a slug-away style. <Ramble complete>
  8. This thread will not get any better than this post. It can now be closed!
  9. I HATE HATE HATE HATE (&c. times infinity) the banning of the shift, It was an organic, natural innovation (though not THAT new). It should be addressed by adjustments in tactics and strategy, not in a committee room. But then, I still hate the DH. Before long, we'll have T-20 baseball (That's a reference to fiddling with cricket to make it quicker; the Brits should just switch to baseball!) Pitch clock? I despise time-wasting (except my own), but I'm not sure how that will work and have not even tried to understand it. Good in principle, but I withhold judgment, as if our opinions count for squat. Base size? Meh. It's fine.
  10. It's ABOUT TIME we didn't waste a great pitching start! We tried to blow it by scoring just 2, but I guess the secret is for the starter to go 8 and give up just 1.
  11. Oh stop it. He's just trying to have fun. Horrible poetry is at least a distraction from bad baseball.
  12. Jakob Junis and Un Decided (according to ESPN). How have our hitters fared against Un Decided?
  13. I'm glad I was too busy to notice, until now, that the Brewers were the MLB free game of the day.
  14. I respectfully disagree. They're better than other announcers out there, and I have listened around. I liked Levering & Grindle last year.
  15. I just checked in and saw the score. I might have to sit this one out.
  16. Perdomo is, unfortunately, the guy to blame for this miserable and shocking loss; it's not CC.
  17. An inexcusable, painful, miserable loss. Unbelievably bad.
  18. We have a knack for wasting good starting pitching. Either we don't score or the BP blows it.
