  1. We've got to find a way to keep Anderson at 3rd. What a nice play!
  2. Agreed. With a 2.5 hour trip from SW Wisconsin, the afternoon start means being home at a decent time and ability to watch NCAA championship tonight.
  3. With Steele, the lefty, going for the Cubs tomorrow, does Wiemer go into the starting lineup immediately? Yelich LF Voit 1B Adames SS Contreras C Brosseau DH Anderson 3B Mitchell CF Wiemer RF Turang 2B
  4. MVP: Christian Yelich CY Young: Corbin Burnes Rookie of the Year: Garrett Mitchell BA Leader: Sal Frelick HR Leader: Rowdy Tellez ERA Leader: Corbin Burnes SO Leader: Corbin Burnes WAR Leader: Corbin Burnes Breakout(s): Freddy Peralta, Garrett Mitchell, Sal Frelick Disappointment(s): Eric Lauer, Brian Anderson Bold Prediction (s): Two pitchers added at the trade deadline...one at the backend of the rotation and one for the 8th inning role. Record: 89-73 Playoffs? Yes, NL Central Champs
  5. So information on Hiura and Naquin, but no word on why the change with Voit out of the lineup late?
  6. This article states that a decision on Voit may be coming sooner rather than later. https://nypost.com/2023/03/08/luke-voit-may-have-overachieved-in-yankees-tenure/
  7. First, I do think Winker will have a rebound and think(hope) he spends most of his at bats at DH. With those things said, I am guessing he walks after the year as that opens up the DH spot in 2024 for Yelich on a more regular basis and in turn creates an OF spot for the young guys.
  8. Spring Training MVP: Garrett Mitchell - with many of the other regulars playing in the WBC, Mitchell will get plenty of at bats. Surprise OD roster inclusion(s): Sal Frelick Surprise OD roster omission(s): Owen Miller (although I don't know if this is a great surprise) Breakout(s): Sal Frelick, Peter Strzelecki Disappointment(s): Brian Anderson Bounceback(s): Jesse Winker, Christian Yelich Season MVP: Christian Yelich Cy Young: Corbin Burnes Reliever of the Year: Devin Williams Rookie of the Year: Sal Frelick Bold Prediction: Abraham Toro has his best MLB season to date and ends up being a regular with Brian Anderson disappointing. Brewers Record: 90-72 Postseason? Yes
  9. Does time away for the World Baseball Classic make Frelick's path to opening day in the big leagues easier or tougher?
  10. Law did list Mitchell today among the 11 guys that "just missed". https://theathletic.com/4136399/2023/01/31/mlb-prospects-just-missed-law/
  11. Keith Law with The Athletic with his top 100 seems to really like the Brewers with 5 guys listed Chourio at 3 Frelick at 41 Quero at 45 Wiemer at 91 Black at 96 https://theathletic.com/4132943/2023/01/30/top-100-mlb-prospects-2023-keith-law/
  12. Reading the article on mlbtraderumors https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/01/mariners-add-stephen-vogt-to-coaching-staff.html this quote definitely caught my eye. " Current A’s manager Mark Kotsay also had praise for Vogt, speaking to John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle in October. “I do think he’d be a good manager,” Kotsay said. “Big personality. Gamer. Intense. Driven. You could see all those traits. Catchers seem to make great managers. They see the game from a different perspective. One of my best friends, who’s manager of the Brewers, Craig Counsell, said Stephen is probably going to be the next manager of the Brewers.” WE... WE BELIEVE... WE BELIEVE IN STEPHEN VOGT!
  13. I got one right! (Mancini is still available, Lauer can now be traded for something besides a starting catcher) Posted December 6, 2022 Ok. Here's my (plan) wish list for the rest of the winter. Know it won't happen, but I can dream as this represents the Crew "going for it". Trade Lauer and Mitchell for Danny Jansen. Not because he's from Wisconsin but due to the fact that he'll keep Rowdy happy. Sign Mancini to be your right handed bat to play 1st against LHP and right field at other times as well. Maybe his clubhouse vibes will rub off on Winker. (Wil Myers if Mancini wants too much) Sign Robertson to be the 8th inning guy. I thought about a lefty, but think Robertson has decent numbers against left-handed bats over his career. Like having a guy with closer experience. Sign Wade Miley (or similar pitcher) as Starting pitching depth. Expect Ashby and/or Junk to make plenty of starts throughout the year. Considered leaving Turang at AAA to start the year and giving Toro a chance to win the 3rd base job, but really like Turang range at 2nd with no more shifts.
  14. https://www.mlb.com/news/hitters-likely-to-be-affected-by-shift-ban mlb.com article saying that the Brewers have 3 of the 11 players that would have gained the most hits last year without shifts. Taylor, Tellez, and Toro.
  15. A Cardinal site did (and you're right...they picked St. L) https://redbirdrants.com/posts/comparing-the-st-louis-cardinals-and-milwaukee-brewers-by-position-group-for-2023-01gnngg4fdbj Their take: C = advantage Cards 1b = major advantage Cards 2b = advantage Cards ss = small advantage Cards 3b = advantage Cards OF = advantage Cards DH = advantage Brewers Starting P = big advantage Brewers Bullpen = advantage Cards Final analysis = Cards "are the clear favorites in the National League Central and will win it by a comfortable margin."
  16. I also took the plunge on Crokinole for the family Christmas gift/game after seeing it on the site. Everyone has loved it so far.
  17. I've felt that improvement vs LHP was one of the two ways (an 8th inning RP being the other) to finish out the off season. Contreras should help greatly, but would like to have someone to share time with Rowdy and/or Winker if needed. On the free agent side, maybe that means a guy like Trey Mancini or Wil Meyers. Or as mentioned in other threads recently, maybe it's a trade for Eduardo Escobar. While Owen Miller wasn't a bad get, I'm not so sure he is the answer to this problem especially after looking at the splits in this article.
  18. And to think...I figured this would be the big news for the day
  19. Unbelievable trade! At least with it seeming so lopsided, all my proposed trades from now on will feel like they have a possibility. ? Being serious...What's reasonable to expect from Contreras next year? I see he caught 60 games last year and DH'ed in 34 others. Can he almost double his workload at catcher and play 100 games behind the plate while DHing another 40-50?
  20. While we've all talked a move for a catcher; am I correct that this is the first time Arnold has actually mentioned it?

  22. Patience is the key! Only 2 years out from getting Toro to the Brewers.
  23. Kolten Wong to Seattle for Chris Flexen proposed this morning on The Athletic. https://theathletic.com/3958391/2022/12/02/mariners-brewers-trade-proposal-chris-flexen-kolten-wong/ Actually more importantly, nice to see Will Sammon helping with a Brewers article on the site!
  24. I like the idea of trying to get Jansen. Would Houser get it done? (similar salary, same years available) Toronto may want something to add to the major league team as opposed to minor league guys.
