  1. It's going to really irk me when they don't match. He's young and pretty good to just let go for only 4 million a year. Especially when one of the potential 4 PG's on the roster is Luke Ridnour, who I don't think highly of and has only 1 year left on his deal. Dump him for virtually anything and then you can easily afford Sessions. They dumped RJ's huge contract, let Villanueva walk and now are likely going to let sessions walk. They'd have the money if they hadn't signed Delfino to that silly contract as well. I really can't follow this. I know we drafted Jennings, but would having 2 good, young quality point guards really be that bad of a thing? You could always move one later if they're both really that good. I really don't understand what they're doing. I thought Hammond would do a decent job and he's doing ok clearing out some of the excess salary and is a bit handicapped, but I'm really starting to question where exactly this team is going.
  2. Woohoo!! And only missed it by 8 minutes or so...let's see it!
  3. I agree, the suspense is getting to me. Is it bad to check back every half hour (while at work mind you) to see if the new Power 50 is up? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. The 25 man roster spot shouldn't be that hard....Smith hasn't exactly pitched well up here and Swindle doesn't really appear to be in teh team's plans. I have no idea on the 40 man though.
  5. Witrado is just generally a jerk, not just in this instance or as it relates to the Brewers. He played on a couple of softball teams in the Wilson Park Power League the last couple of seasons (when he was actually in town) and was just an arrogant [expletive deleted] for the most part. I had limited interactions with him, but from watching several of the games, it was pretty clear. Does anyone actually think he's even that good of a writer? You wonder how long the JS will even stick with the guy. (edit: language --1992)
  6. Where exactly is Hall going to play down there? They didn't send him down to ride the pine (I don't think) and clearly want him to work through some things then bring him back up. Gamel at 3b, Escobar at SS.... I guess he could play 2b or CF, but it just seems odd.
  7. We haven't lost yet guys...still time to score some runs.
  8. This is a really weird question but I know that someone on here has to know the answer. I have to wear a suit to work most days, which sucks. Being in my mid-20's, I can't really afford 10-15 suits, so I have about 5-6 of them. In the last 2 weeks, I've had the zipper break on THREE seperate pairs of pants. This seems impossible as I've never had it happen before, but all 3 are broke. 2 of them need to be completely replaced, the other could maybe be fixed. I know there are places out there that can do this....but I can't seem to find any. Anybody know of any stores in the Waukesha/Brookfield area that would do this? Is there a place at Brookfield Square? And if so, approximately how much it costs? I need to get them fixed ASAP, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  9. Not sure if anyone is watching, but the Cards have the bases loaded in the ninth on 3 walks, 6-3 Tigers with 1 out. Rodney is getting absolutely hosed on the mound. He should have had the last 2 guys called out on strikes...both on 2 seperate pitches. No worries! Ankiel just ended it with a double play! 1.5 up!
  10. Nice, thanks for the info. I sent you a PM...
  11. Thought I'd resurrect this thread as the Brewers are heading there for the weekend...roll call for anybody going? The three of us will be there Thursday - Monday. I've done quite a bit of digging around and caught some stuff on the Food/Travel channel that looked pretty intriguing. We're staying at the Sheraton Hotel downtown, not sure if anybody knows exactly where that is or anything near it.... Not sure the timeframe for this stuff, but we'll be doing the following things in our time away from Turner Field: Tours of the Sweetwater Brewing Company and that Atlanta Brewing Company on Thursday, if we can actually time it out right to get them both in, they have limited tour times it seems but that's the plan for now. World of Coca Cola on Friday afternoon Gladys Knights Chicken and Waffles restuarant at some point Vortex Bar/Grill for some crazy burgers as well Both were seen on Man vs Food - Atlanta And probably a few bars along the way....
  12. The Ultimate Warrior used to sprint, at top speed from the entrance ramp to the ring. I think that's where the connection comes in.
  13. He is DEFINITELY running out to the Ultimate Warrior theme, heard it on Tuesday night...it was awesome. Brilliant idea.
  14. It's really unfortunate that this the autograph situation at this time. Numerous guys have exclusive contracts (and this will only get worse) and "private signings" are becoming the norm. As BrewCrew stated, the days of actually lining up to meet the player and interact with them for a few seconds are coming to an end. I know a few employees at a local sports card store (that I'll keep nameless). The store regularily had 3-4 Brewers/Packers in for signings every year. They had Weeks, Hall, Hart, Sheets, Jenkins, Ahman Green, Donald Drive....all fairly early in their "Wisconsin" careers, for a somewhat reasonable price. In each case, they gave the player X amount of money for X amount of time, and the player in turn would sit the table for that amount of time. They would get an estimated amount of signatures they could sign in that time, then they would sell that many tickets if they could. If time permitted, the store would just get anything they wanted signed. They had Ryan Grant towards the end of his first Packer season, and haven't had anyone since. There are 3 reasons for this: 1. Players are starting to ask for more and more money. He used to make a small profit on the autograph shows, almost all of which would come from merchandise sales, a very small portion, if any from the actual price for the augraph. 2. Players won't agree to the 1-2 hour window anymore, they have a set amount of items they will sign and that's it. This virtually eliminates any chance of a "walk up" auto sale and doesn't really allow the store to get much of it's merchandise signed. 3. Players are now signing exclusive deals with companies for amounts of money that he can't possibly compete with. He had a deal in place during Braun's rookie year, date set and everything and when he faxed over the contract it was never returned because they had been offered a deal to be exclusive (much like Gamel). Last time I talked with him, he pretty much indicated that the store probably won't have anyone significant in for a long, long time. Sure, they can get guys like Gilbert Brown or Carlos Villanueva in, but nobody comes so he stopped trying.
  15. I'm definitely in for at least 1, maybe 2 items. Can you let us know when this is finalized? I don't want to miss out but I don't really want to buy something to get signed unless it's a sure thing.
  16. BHF - you're in the Milwaukee area somewhere right? Are you open to just meeting before/after with the items? I know that could get hectic for you, just curious.
  17. So I apparently somehow missed the "purple top" chick...I've seen it on 3 different website with people talking about her. What is wrong with me?? Anyone have the ability to get a picture up here?
  18. And here I was the whole time thinking I was the only one dorky enough and with enough time to do such a thing. I would play the game until I got punched, then reset it. I did it 2-3 times all the way through (I really, really needed a life). I recently busted it out and could get as far as Super Macho Man (with several punches obviously) but I had lost all of my old touch. Of course, I still remembered the "tells" and tricks to everyone after all this time...I see no choice but to buy this game. For those who got it today...how is the gameplay? Is it difficult to actually throw the punches with the Wiimote and stuff? How does the head/body shots work, how can it tell?
  19. I'm certainly interested in getting an 8x10 signed, of course I don't know where I would be able to get them...are you guys getting some made? Do you have the photo you'll be using? I'd definitely be in though. Possibly for a baseball as well. And just curious, but what if he's not on the big league club on June 22?
  20. It was my understanding from the article that they just recently linked 4 more cases to the same person, moving it from just a murder or two (that sounds bad but I assure you I don't take that lightly) to 6 or more murders, which puts the person in the Serial Killer range. I also believe that they sent another 20+ DNA samples from similar unsolved cases to be tested and there will almost certainly be more that get tied to the same individual, possibly filling in the gap of 10+ years. On the subject of the gap...who knows. Maybe the person moved out of state (and there could be more there), maybe they just stopped doing it for awhile, maybe he had a few other murders either get pinned on someone else or the bodies were never found. or maybe they were in jail for a non-violent crime. I don't think all crimes warrant DNA samples (especially way back then) but I could be wrong. Any of those are distinct possiblities. There's just no way of knowing at this point. As interesting as I find the cases to be, I'd much prefer viewing them from far, far away. 2 serial killers in Milwaukee in the last 20+ years is just way too terrifying to even think about. Ugh.
  21. I could be completely wrong on this, but didn't they trade for DeRosa, not sign him as a FA? I thought the Cubs were trying to get some more prospects to get Peavey.
  22. Casey McGehee can also play 2b, and did so in the spring solely for this situation. If Weeks is out for only 2-3 weeks, I would bet that McGehee will get some starts against the lefties. It's not an ideal situation, but I'd much rather keep Counsell fresh and not let him hit against a lefty if possible (I can't believe I just wrote that).
  23. Nicely done.... And the pic of him in Houston hitting the homer in the 9th of Lidge shows just how classy a guy King Albert is.
  24. I also had the Cinemax and HBO channels over the weekend and through yesterday. I haven't been home to check it today, so maybe it was just some sort of preview for Directv customers - though I find it really odd that we weren't notified. It was a complete fluke that I even found them and if they really wanted people to view them with the intention of actually ordering them, notification would probably be a good way to go. Who knows, maybe they had a royal screwup for a few days.
  25. The biggest problem with a 10 or 12 team playoff is that teams have to get a bye round. This isn't really a problem in football, as teams use it to prepare and get healthy. In baseball, it would seem a HUGE disadvantage to me to have to sit for a week just because you had the best record in the league. Yes, I know they could use it to get healthy and would be well rested while the other team has just played 3-7 games (depending on the format) but as we all know, baseball players can accumulate a rather large amount of rust after 7-10 days of inactivity. Often times, players are at their best when they're playing almost every day, consitent at-bats, etc. Now the best teams in the league have to sit for a week...just seems like a bad idea. Another issue I could possibly see is the length of the season. If you add another round to the playoffs, they're going to go into November unless they shorten the regular season by 10-15 games. Early-Mid November baseball in places like Minnesota, Cleveland, Detroit, etc could get pretty ugly.
