  1. If I'm reading everything right, he had pretty good control last year. Maybe the injury really effected him more than anyone knew? Maybe it messed up his mechanics? Who knows, if he legitimately has three plus pitches, hopefully we can teach him some control. Still hope we go with a higher upside guy with the last pick of the night.
  2. Well nobody seemed to want him....? Thoughts? He was ranked 26th it seemed?
  3. The break was annoying...but with picks being made every 60 seconds here, the rest of this night is going to fly. So that's nice at least. Cardinals up (how they are in the competitive balance is laughable IMO), but I'm sure they'll take someone we want, pour some pixy dust on them and he'll become an all-star. Alright here we are...who is our pick?? Predictions??
  4. There goes Funkhouser to LAD. Thought it would be funny to get him at 40. Who should I be hoping for at this point? Just a few picks left to go...
  5. Just turned it on...what's the word on the weather? Last I looked at it, it looked like pretty severe storms the rest of the night in the Pittsburgh area. Are they still talking of resuming this game?
  6. Yes. That's exactly what happened with Houston last year.
  7. I apologize...I'm only mildly into the MLB draft. So if this is true, would the idea be that they could take some guys that have fallen a bit in the later rounds and then overpay them? Which was sorta similar to what we did last year?
  8. If that's a deal the Spurs would actually make, we should jump at it IMO. Ennis may develop but we really don't need him. Plumlee is just another body and Splitter fills his role. The only holdup is his contract. 2 years at 8.5 million per season. That's a bit high, but we should be able to absorb that (I think?). We could take the two picks and certainly find quality players, or combine them to trade up if someone we really like starts falling. I think I'd probably do it, assuming it doesn't kill us from a cap standpoint (sorry, I'm not that into the Bucks cap situation at the moment).
  9. Any idea what the dual lucroy Bobblehead is worth? I can't tell what plaque is on it if that really makes a difference. Someone is offering it to me in a trade but I'm not sure of its value. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  10. This is way off topic, but nobody should care about bobblehead day when it comes to making roster decisions. We gave out Hammonds bobbleheads a month after he was flat our released from the organization. I'd be highly surprised if we traded him in the next 2 weeks, but if the right offer comes...we should take it 100% of the time.
  11. I have an extra Jean Segura SSH bobblehead from last year for sale/trade. Brand new in the box. I'm not really sure what it's worth, so if interested make me an offer. I live in the Waukesha area and would prefer to not ship it but I'm open to it if necessary. Edit: I have most of Brewers sga bobbleheads already.
  12. Sometimes you have to endure some pain before you experience some success. Well I'd still have my 20 pack...and selfishly, if people bail, just means better seats for me going forward. The team is going to be bad next year, it's just a matter of exactly HOW bad we're going to be. As far as the trade percentages, I'd say as long as Parra is healthy, he's got to be almost 100% gone. We're not bringing him back next year. He's a solid lefty bat and a gold glove OF. What contending team couldn't use that? Even if it's just as a 4th OF.
  13. If I'm the Brewers and we're truly going to try to rebuild for a couple of years. I'm not trading for any players that are just average guys that can be in MLB right now. I'm looking for prospects, even lower level ones. Getting average MLB talent is what got us in this problem in the first place IMO.
  14. I don't have any stats to back it up, but wouldn't the fact that nearly all of his HR have been to center or right seem to indicate that while he still has power....he's lost the ability to really turn on a baseball? He crushed that hanging slider in NY, but the only other pitches he seems to drive are on the outer half where he can hit them the other way. I don't know why teams don't just bust him inside pitch after pitch until he shows he can actually do something with it.
  15. So...watching Walden pitch right now. How is his windup not illegal?? I could be wrong, but doesn't a pitcher have to be touching the rubber when he releases the ball? Walden is VERY clearly jumping or whatever and his toes are completely off the rubber (and closer to the plate) when he releases the ball. Here's a picture of it from ST. http://ww3.hdnux.com/photos/35/17/31/7665274/3/628x471.jpg
  16. From what I've heard it's his ACT score (so yes, grades). Nah, not going to get into Maryland but not UW. It's just that he was a shoe-in for Maryland. Bo doesn't seem to play that game, and it has turned out pretty well for him. It's been pretty well documented that WI holds it's athletes to a pretty substantially higher standard than many other major division 1 programs do. All schools are more lenient on athletes, but WI only goes so far. Many others will stretch it all the way to simply meeting NCAA requirements (which Stone did), but WI doesn't. There have been several documented cases of football players not qualifying here but played in the Big Ten (MSU stole a couple recently) and Gary Anderson sighted it as a major reason he left. Nobody has any way of knowing if academics are the reason he's not a Badger, but it's certainly a valid and plausible explanation.
  17. We're going to have to shoot the lights out (and KY takes that away well), but the weakness is to get into the lane. We need to attack and attack and attack the line - not our strength but if we do that, draw some fouls, it will lead to open threes, and we'll have to make a ton of them. I'm pretty worried about the defensive end though. KY is huge on the inside and we've struggled to contain that for awhile. Though we CAN beat them and I'm pretty confident the players really BELIEVE they can beat them this year. They are beatable - just ask UNLV how that went 20 or so years ago.
  18. Back to back final fours is just crazy. Let that sink in for a minute, this might not happen again in a long, long time (if ever). As a Badger fan, try to savor this moment and this season. Reaching heights the program has never seen (or quite honestly, nobody really ever imagined IMO). KY is a bad matchup for us, this was their night to be beat. But the WI players have wanted this rematch for a year and I guess we'll get our shot.
  19. Well per his twitter account, Diamond Stone has picked Maryland over WI. Just don't get it (unless it's grades). After all the recent success, the fact that he's from WI and his dad is close with Bo...and we still can't get him. And we don't lose him to Duke or Kansas or UNC, but Maryland?? I really thought with the timing of it, it was going to be the Badgers, adding to the great weekend (so far). But this is a pretty big downer. Ugh.
  20. The Badgers will 100% NOT play a zone of any kind. Not a single minute of it ever under Bo Ryan. Arizona is a tough matchup, and the fact that it's very near their campus is kinda BS, but it was last year too.... The Badgers are incredibly overdue for a game where they shoot the ball well and their opponent doesn't. Every game in this post season, we've seemingly struggled on offense, missing tons of open looks for at least an entire half...meanwhile teams shoot out of their minds against us. Overdue to just explode on someone sooner or later. This is a tough game though, AZ has been thinking about us for an entire year - much like we have with KY. Could be a real battle, just hope we can somehow find a way to win.
  21. If Bradley turns into an effective big league relief pitcher, or even just a solid LOOGY, I'd take that in a heartbeat. As someone else has said, getting to the MLB level isn't easy, even for first round picks. Sure, you have high hopes for them when they are drafted, but look at how many guys just simply never make the MLB roster. Getting someone that can contribute, even in a minor role like a LOOGY is a success IMO.
  22. Some of it might boil down to taking those All Americans and fitting them into an actual team. I'm sure this isn't true of all of them, but I think most of those types of players are used to being THE man on the team. Everything runs through them, they are the absolute best player on the floor most of the time. Suddenly they have coaches that may make them work, may not let them play 40 minutes a game. Or they simply aren't used to being a team player and it takes a learning curve to try to take 3-4-5 of these types of guys together and make them mold themselves into a team - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the kids don't pan out to be 5 start talent at the next level. Some may very well just be playing for themselves and the NBA next year. Again, these are general assumptions. And certainly there is talent there, but it doesn't always work to form what is essentially all start caliber high school teams at the college level. The raw talent can usually get them some success, but it's not guaranteed, especially in the tournament.
  23. At some point one of the one-seeds would have to play Arizona. We were likely the lowest one seed. Going out west as a one (and playing AZ in the elite 8) is still better than playing KY in the elite 8 in Cleveland. It's not so much facing arizona that is bad. Just the location. Playing them in CA gives them a bit of a home court advantage over the one seed in the region. Also just read that the committee said WI earned a one seed after the game on SATURDAY. Making today's game moot - I don't agree with it and don't like the fact that they admit that too. We couldn't have been THAT far ahead of Arizona or Virginia IMO.
  24. Even if Valentine hangs into the ball, the game isn't necessarily over. Badgers foul a few times and MSU goes to the line with a one and one and 15 seconds left. Would have been tough but he certainly could have missed a ft. I think the possible unc or Arkansas matchup could be trouble. Both play very up tempo which could test our depth big time and unc is highly athletic and gets into the paint. Not a good thing for our defense. And facing arizona out west seems like a penalty for a one seed. But at least we avoided KY.
  25. Looking at the numbers...were ahead of Villanova in almost every regard. They should really be the ones getting shipped out west but I'll take a one seed anywhere. As already said...if this doesn't get us a one seed I don't know what will.
