  1. Sooner or later, someone is going to punch him. I hope. Dude deserves it. He's the most arrogant/dbag player when they're winning, and by far, the biggest baby on earth when they're losing. I can't stand him.
  2. Frustrating game so far. Left them loaded 3 times, Shaw boots a routine ball that leads to a run. Seems like these types of things only happen against the Cards and Cubs. Still time for a comeback though... Also for the broadcast, I know Plesac is on here, but it feels more like a Cardinals telecast to me.
  3. Not only that, but Counsell keeps putting him in prime spots in the lineup. Leadoff yesterday, 5 hole tonight. It's always frustrating to fail on sac fly chances, but with a 2-1 count, bases juiced and a very hittable pitch, a pop up is highly disappointing.
  4. Perez hitting leadoff? Not sure I agree with that one...why not Villar? Strange lineup. And another Bandy start....he's gotta be getting close to DFA (i can hope right??)
  5. If Villar is starting, I'd almost like to see him hitting 9th. He's been getting on base a lot lately. Get him on in front of the top of the order guys. Let him run a bit.
  6. If Perez is set to go this weekend, I'd like to see Choi get the call - at least until Monday. Perez can be the 4th OF and Choi can DH. Then swap him and Phillips when they return home next week. My guess is they go with Phillips and let Santana DH though.
  7. Not related to her but since someone mentioned it, hearing Lepay say "break even pitch" basically every time there is a 1-1 count does get a tad old.
  8. I agree with this 100%. Saladino has a place in the majors (as I guess Sogard did before he forgot how to hit)...but that place is as a utility player, spot starter and late inning defensive replacement. When you start benching young, gold glove caliber SS for him on a regular basis (which we all know Counsell loved to do with Sogard), that's when you have a problem.
  9. Four pitch walk to Avila - who is batting .129. That's infuriating. Just throw strikes, let these guys get themselves out.
  10. I have to agree with that, especially when twice the walks have been to guys batting under .200. Let people hit the ball, stop trying to pick at the corners with guys that have horrible averages.
  11. Am I the only wishing anyone but Woodruff wasn't on the mound today? He just doesn't seem ready to me.
  12. I haven't posted it on here, but my dad has been yelling about Braun's bat for years. It's one of the biggest I've ever seen and it has to be having an impact on his swing speed and ability to catchup on fastballs. Bat aside, his pitch selection has also been pretty awful this year, certainly not helping.
  13. If I'm reading stats right (and I very well could be wrong), Villar appears to hit Corbin quite well (5-10?)
  14. Villar looked fine at the plate yesterday. He hit righty late in the game and hit a rocket to the track in RF. I just don't get it. And I'm still baffled that nobody has asked CC about it. Not that I expect much more from our crappy media here.
  15. Why has nobody in the media asked Counsell about Villar? It's reached a point that's quite baffling.
  16. What does Villar have to do to actually get to play? This is starting to get ridiculous. Cain Yelich Braun Shaw Aguilar Perez Pina Arcia Chacin
  17. Seems weird to limit a position player's PT because of his arm. Legs or back makes sense because you're constantly using those things on every play. But it is nearly impossible to predict how many throws your 2B will make in a game. It's really not that many when you think about it. I'd venture a guess that if you take out warm ups and around the horn type stuff, in an actual game situation, a 2b probably throws the ball less than 10 times fairly easily.
  18. This. The happiness I had with Sogard being sent down was completely lost (and then some) when the returning player was Franklin. He was last year's Sogard for me. A guy that was on the roster WAY longer than he should have been, for no apparent reason. This move is seriously baffling. Stearns explanation makes it even worse quite honestly. And to keep Villar on the bench even longer for no apparently reason...WHY?
  19. Shouldn't Villar be the LH option at 2b...? Not sure why MLB experience is relevant when you were pretty awful the entire time. That's simply not a reason to leave a guy that deserves a shot in AAA.
  20. This one is flat out baffling. Nick Franklin was pretty awful before. He hasn't been crushing it in AA and still somehow gets called up before Orf? Why? Neither was on the 40 man, so that's not a viable reason.
  21. Agree, FVB. That's my biggest issue with Sogard. If he was the last guy on the roster, PH sometimes and maybe the rare spot start if Arcia needs a day off, fine. But he continues to start on a consistent basis for no apparent reason. I wasn't a fan of his last season, wasn't at all a fan of him being resigned and IMO, should be DFA immediately. If they really dislike Villar that much, then bring up Orf (or Dubon when healthy again), but regardless, whoever it is can't possibly do any WORSE than Sogard.
  22. THIS. Maybe his numbers are inflated, and maybe he can't play SS (though as others have stated Perez can and Villar could in a pinch). IMO, he can't possibly be worse than Sogard. Sogard is still living off one crazy hot month almost a year ago. He's been almost laughably bad this year. It's time to cut bait and give someone else a shot.
  23. As much as I despise his throwing arm, the catcher position thus far has been a black hole offensively. I guess he's worth a look for awhile at least. What would be nice though is that if/when he doesn't hit and provides nothing defensively, they make a change unlike with Sogard.
  24. Why Sogard starts ANYWHERE for any reason other than injury is beyond me. Benching our young, gold glove caliber shortstop 1-2 times a week for him is just flat out baffling. Sogard is simply not a good MLB hitter. He had one amazingly good month last year, no doubt about that, but after that first month, he was pretty awful at the plate. Even with the hot start, he finished the year batting .273. His career numbers would indicate that he's simply not very good. Career BA of .240, career OBP of .309 and a whopping 11 HR in almost 1700 plate appearances. There's simply nothing there that would indicate that he's suddenly figured out how to hit. He's just not good. He's average at best defensively. He's 32, so his best years are likely behind him. He should have been DFA'd a week ago. If Villar was having the same season, this board would be SCREAMING about how bad he is and how it's ridiculous that he has a roster spot, but Sogard continues to get a free pass. It seems like he's still someone living off of that one amazing month, despite virtually all of his career numbers indicating that it was a complete and utter fluke. There has to be someone available in AAA or through a trade or claim that can beat a .118/.182/.176 line. Sorry for the venting post, If he's going to be on the roster, he should be the 25th man, maybe PH when you need to move a runner over or Arcia is dinged up, but the fact that he's seeing regular playing time over younger guys like Arcia and Villar just infuriates me. Sorry for the venting post.
