  1. Oh boy. Woof. We are suddenly back to the 3rd inning mini meltdowns we saw from Corniel earlier in the first half. He just gave up a 2-out triple. Let's remember, he had two down. A 1-2 count. And nobody on base. Then, he gave up 5 runs. 5-0 Down East and he's not out of the woods yet. Woof.
  2. Corneil just walked the next batter on four pitches. We have a mound visit. I have no idea what the pitch count is this inning but it has to be getting up there. Men on 1B and 2B. Two down still.
  3. Not to be. First pitch single to CF. 3-0 Down East. Two down. Man on 1B.
  4. Corniel is running into a wee bit of trouble here in the 3rd frame. Walk, double, double. He also has 2 K. 1-0 Down East. Men on 2nd and 3rd. Two down. 4 K through 2 2/3 IP. Let's hope he can prevent further damage.
  5. Looks like the Mudcats stranded a couple runners early. We are in the bottom of the 2nd frame and Corniel certainly seems sharper. BUT, hey, what would we know it's @ Down East. The Media Blackout Capital of Minor League baseball.
  6. Sigh. I don't get it. Nope. The blow up innings are going to happen - this is the 'development' process. However, this is coming on the heels of his best month at Double-A (0.238 BAA / 1.00 WHIP/ 8 K / 1 BB / 1 HB / 6 IP). When you have demonstrated the ability to throw the ball as hard as King does with the strikeout stuff he's shown consistently at every level, that's an asset worth continuing to invest in and develop by my eyes and IMHO. Stay thirsty, Justin. Believe in yourself. Keep grinding. You will definitely be an asset in your next stop. Stay the course. The journey continues.
  7. Well Shucks. What Sveum said, I guess. 😁
  8. With two down in the 9th frame, Yoho just saw a 10 mph warmburner flub its way to the 3B side for a single. Men on 1st and 2nd now. Two down. He'll try to escape. Fell down 3-0 in the next count (ump blew a 2-0 strike call). Got two swinging strikes. He gets the groundout to Wilken who quickly steps on 3B in front of the slide. 7-5 Shuckers win. Yoho nabs the Save.
  9. C Darrien Miller is really having an intriguing season. He's handling the Lion's share of the catching duties for Biloxi. He has elevated his CS% over the past two seasons to respectable rates - sitting at 19% after tonight in 2024. He's really flipped his K:BB rates to a fascinating 39:40, respectively. You couple that with the absurd amount he gets on base via bean balls and we're really holding out hope he re-discovers at least a modicum more power and hopefully an ability to start knocking in more runs. I personally feel like the Brewers as an org would benefit greatly in his offensive development if they simply gave him a place in the batting order to work on. They tend to throw him all up and down that order. Now that they have O'Rae in a designated lead-off role, I would love to see them give Miller a month of expectations in a single place in the batting order. Perhaps this is wishful thinking?
  10. Zavi Warren with the key hit so far here late for the Shuckers. A bases loaded single in the bottom of the sixth with two down plated two runs for a 7-5 Shuckers lead.
  11. EBJ 0-for-4, 1 K. OPS now down to 0.485 in over 200 AB. Man. It's a tough tough season.
  12. For those wondering, that's now five straight starts of 6 IP or more. 18 years old until August 8th. Let that sink in. Dating back to his first start of May (5/7), that's 6-of-9 games started of 6 IP or more. AND, of those three we have a 5 2/3 IP. Just unreal stuff from Manuel.
  13. 6 K in that 5 IP for Hoff as well. You have to love that type of performance! The no BB is a huge turnaround in his 4th outing and 3rd GS. He now has a positive differential K:BB (13:11).
  14. You see what I've been talking about for over a year and a half. The young man can play. And, he's taken it to another level in 2024. He's a legit option for the MLB roster in 2025. The little bit of power he's discovering is something - he's a switch-hit option. Limited to 2B and LF, however. That really hurts him as he doesn't have that plug-and-play all 3 spots left of 1B true utility. It will likely be his Achilles' heel. He gets thrown in CF from time-to-time for the Sounds but I don't see that as a serious position for him considering the wealth of true CF options on the Brewers.
  15. BUMP: It would appear Keston is enjoying the PCL😁
  16. I think the combined seasons of EBJ and Ethan Murray (injured 7-Day, obviously) are perhaps my biggest <sad face> of 2024. I had very very high hopes for both young men. They've just both had seasons to forget for the most part. I would opine Barrios and Areinamo are likely deserving of promotions at some point in 2024 - will the Brewers consider it? I'm just still in my ongoing grieving process re: EBJ and Murray.😅
  17. Recall that Yeager also gave up a three-run jack earlier this series while protecting a 5-1 lead. He was also ahead in that count. Rough start to his second half.
  18. EBJ with the gaudy 0.499 OPS through 200 Double-A AB. Ummmm, yeah. Didn't have that on my 2024 Bingo Card. 🥴
  19. That's a tough tough loss for the Pen. BUT, Zastryzny has all the faculties and capabilities - given what I've seen from him in 2024 Nashville - to have a positive influence on the bullpen - like Koenig? That's a very tough ask. Koenig's range of pitches run 79/80-to-94ish. Sits 92-93 on his four-seamer. Sits on the four-seamer. Sprinkles in the cutter, slider, and curve for good measure. More a vertical break pitcher than a horizontal movement - on both the slider and curve. Anyhow, he has been mostly very very solid for Nashville in 2024. He has given up one or more runs in 7-of-28 outings, however.
  20. Lugo suffered the fates of a double error (Quintana and Charles) and a scored passed ball. Astros Orange pulled within 2-1. He hit a batter in the ensuing AB's (can you blame him? Probably was watching Stroman last night 🤭) but escaped further harm. And, now the Crew Dos has backed him up with three runs of their own. We see OF Jose Anderson has re-entered the chat with an RBI double. C Luis Corobo stole home in a successful double steal. Noice! 5-1 as they head to the 6th frame.
  21. Meanwhile, we are in the top of the 5th and the Crew Dos lead the Astros Orange 2-0. Young Nicaraguan 17-year-old Lonell Downs with his best start of his summer (in his third GS overall) going 4 IP of 3 H, 1 BB, 3 K, 0 R ball. Fantastic effort from the young man. It appears RHP Justin Lugo has been called on to spell him in the 5th. Let's hope, like Downs, he finds his best form of the summer.
  22. Made and Pena both 2-for-3 in the middle innings. Made's 4th 2-bagger. Pena's 5th. Incredible. Additionally, Made appear to be credited with his first error of the summer - heck of a defensive output by the everday player. Meanwhile, Panamanian 17-year-old Manuel Moreno is throwing darts from the hill: 4 IP, 3 H, 4 K, 0 R. The Crew Uno lead the Orioles Orange 4-0 in the bottom of the 5th. This is their third time facing each other in a two week period. Mini 'series' is currently at a 1-1 split.
  23. Thanks for the update. I've been wondering about Sam. He's been throwing a lot of baseballs since his debut last summer. Hopefully, the rest is good for a re-calibration and he comes back throwing stronger than ever.
  24. I swear Zavi does this every season. Is there a more 'hot and cold' guy in the system? I can't think of One. He can get insanely hot and productive for short stints.
