    Perhaps. He could have been meaning to try and stretch Gasser and extend his pitch count. And, Bukauskas only had 22 pitches. I tell ya, if the ump doesn't take that strike 3 call in that first batter full count. And, if Singleton doesn't absolutely butcher that play down 1B...it's a classic: that's a different inning. 😂

    An ugly inning gets uglier. On a 1-1 count, Bukauskas hangs an off-speed directly over the heart of the plate and Omaha rips a single. Monte Harrison continues to show his less than stellar CF work in 2023, scoops the ball; hesitates to throw it home; then fires a tailing ball down the 3B line past the reach of Payton Henry allowing the runner to advance to 2B. So, we now have a 9-6 deficit. Nobody down and the runner at 2B.

    And, another classic fielding error - this time from Big Jon Singleton - in a very makable play. Wooof. Two men on. Nobody down. Singleton has to do better with that - a hard bunt down the first base line. The ensuing batter rips an inside sinker (and high at that ) down the LF line. Cashing it in. Runners now on 2nd and 3rd still nobody out. 7-6 Omaha. Rough inning.

    Boy did Bukauskas get squeezed on a beautiful inside breaking ball with a lead-off full count. ABS that's a strike on the inside stripe. No challenge system in place today, naturally. Lead runner on here in the 8th for Omaha. Nobody down.

    Devanney can not replicate his rbi single from the 6th - he grounds out to SS on a high chopper. On to the top of the 8th.

    And, we have a pitching change. The drama is palpable.

    With two down, Alvarez scored on a wild pitch. Toro took the free pass. Still two down. Toro and Singleton are on 1st and 2nd, respectively. Big spot for INF Cam Devanney.

    I was just thinking: much Like Wicks, absurdly productive in 2021. Coaching staff and personnel changes and injuries seem to have pushed their value.

    Interesting thing about Valentine is there is actual upside there with a decent sized athletic CB. Good 7th round flyer.
