  1. Okay, so I have to admit Murphy's folksy charm is starting to win me over. After so many years of Counsell, he feels like a quote machine.
  2. This will be an interesting rule change to see play out because it's such a natural movement by infielders, trained over years. And it's not *particularly* dangerous, as it's just a knee or foot placed in front of a runner (I'm not saying it's safe, only much lower wattage than the home plate rules changes). I'm fine with the idea of this, just curious to see how it unfolds.
  3. Not yet but it is a feature we're considering adding. I've had a few requests for it but the tech is kinda tricky in surprising ways, not sure when we will get to it.
  4. Oh man, I was spot-on with the year but way off on number of games. It was in fact 2015 but he managed 96 games, most of the season.
  5. Yeah, I think he managed about 50 games for the Padres... maybe 2015? Somewhere around there, anyway.
  6. @eddiemathews Matt wrote this up in large part because of this thread. Enjoy!
  7. It’s pretty rare. We are able to leverage our extensive knowledge and experience from Twins Daily into Brewer Fanatic. And I am absolutely THRILLED about what is to come. We’re just getting started here.
  8. I think off-season is more transactional than people are considering in this topic. I suspect Arnold liked the value he was getting in the Houser/Taylor trade. He felt the long term value was good on it while it presented payroll flexibility in the short term. So he made the trade. That then left the Brewers short-handed in pitching once the Burnes trade actually happened. So Arnold went and got Junis. Each of these events were only loosely connected and not a grand plan laid out in October. I think good front offices enter the offseason with a loose guideline of what they want to accomplish but then they pivot and pivot again as circumstances change.
  9. Well, the big news is here! Jack Stern has joined BF as a staff writer! So excited!
  10. Everybody welcome Jack Stern! Personally, I've been trying to figure out ways to recruit him for about a year, so flippin' excited it finally happened! He'll be traveling to AZ for a week in March to cover the team on-site.
  11. @Matthew Trueblood is heading down to Arizona today. Matt, think you can try to get a few questions to Weeks?
  12. Jeremy writes for multiple sites, not only Brewer Fanatic. It would be physically impossible for him to watch every game of every team he covers. Also, welcome to Brewer Fanatic!
  13. It’d be nice but I’m skeptical. Like so many other teams, I have a sneaking suspicion the Brewers are trimming (or keeping flat) costs amidst television uncertainty.
  14. The Milwaukee Brewers: we’ll pay you Tuesday for a cheeseburger today. I have to admit a $10m buyout in a mutual option is ****** hilarious, though.
  15. I'm looking for someone to help with the rumors section of the site. I'm finding that I simply do not have the time to manage that properly anymore. I'd prefer that the person manage rumors for the Twins, Brewers, and Cubs but that's not a requirement. It would be a paid role and a pretty nice/easy side hustle for people who find themselves sitting in front of a computer all day anyway. PM me if you're interested or if you have questions, ask them here.
  16. I love these entries, @CheeseheadInQC! You dive into guys who I haven't read much about and I love it.
  17. I've always been high on Wiemer and his issues just always seemed so... fixable. I really hope this change works and he's able to maintain his natural power and athleticism. If he turns into a legit .850 OPS player with good CF defense... well, wow.
  18. Yeah, I don't think it will be. First, the Brewers are relatively frugal. Second, it's a shoulder injury, one of the lower return-to-previous-performance injuries in a pitcher. I think the 2025 salary will be somewhere in the $13-17m range.
  19. It's basically a one-year contract and it's really hard for one of those to be truly bad.
  20. Absolutely nothing not to like about this. I had long held the suspicion that no one was signing Woodruff because they didn't want him to take up a 40-man spot. I'm pretty sure the 60-day IL is open again so he can go directly onto that.
  21. That's our long term goal.
  22. That's a big reason why I've pushed so hard to try to make this happen. Brewers coverage is appalling bad. Hogg is obviously great but the list basically stops after him. It's super-aggravating. As someone who follows multiple teams and sees how much coverage other teams get (the Twins have TWO excellent writers at The Athletic, for example), the dearth of Brewers coverage irritates me.
  23. I think you’re going to love the announcement that comes along with this on March 1st.
