  1. White Sox. I used to hate them but now I just roll my eyes at them, mostly.
  2. I think it's important to note that when Counsell was a "fan", the Brewers were in the American League. By the time the Cubs became a division rival, Counsell had been a major leaguer for several years. And at that point, guys just don't form visceral hatred of entire franchises most of the time.
  3. Just in under the buzzer. I've had this article sitting in my inbox for weeks now!
  4. I don't blame him for Ross losing his job. As a person who also follows the Cubs due to my involvement with North Side Baseball, Ross was not a good manager. The Cubs wanted out from under his management and they were the ones who fired Ross, Counsell just happened to be his replacement.
  5. Maybe it's my imagination but it feels like scheduling has gone downhill since they changed from human scheduling to computer scheduling.
  6. Treego is fired up. Two rhymes in one day?
  7. If you're not listening to this podcast, you need to start. It's so far above and beyond my expectations for these two, and my expectations were very high.
  8. Touche. But I feel the same way about former Twins, too. I just don't get too riled up about players cashing checks.
  9. The Cubs are legit. Their rotation is a question mark minus Steele and their bullpen is legit not good. But be afraid of their prospects, they've spent the past few years building out a very nice farm system.
  10. "Open the box, you must."
  11. I'm just not angry at Counsell for whatever reason. I'm disappointed he went to the Cubs but I get it, too. They gave him a lot of money. I simply don't resent players or coaches following their wallet, I guess. Though I would have preferred him going somewhere other than Wrigley, obviously.
  12. This is why we watch baseball. This series should be a lot of fun.
  13. I predicted the Cubs winning the division going into the season. I'm very impressed with how the Brewers have performed thus far, particularly with the rotation. I was one of the people most down on the patchwork nature of the rotation - which is exacerbated by the Miley loss - but now I'm quite confident the Brewers are going to hang in the division race for most, if not all, of the season. This team's ability to pull someone off of a pile and get 130 good innings out of them is truly astounding.
  14. I'll try to dedicate a little more time to contributing to the game threads. To be completely honest, I haven't been watching much baseball lately. Every so often I go into burnout mode and climb into a hole (this time it's the Red Rising book series). It's probably time for me to crawl out and rejoin the beisboling world (I still read a lot and work on the sites every day but haven't watched much game action).
  15. Back in first as the calendar rolls into May!
  16. Okay, so the pushback on threaded conversations was just as I expected - and I agree that chronological is best - but I have to ask every so often.
  17. Oh, this is an interesting idea. We'd want all the proceeds to go to the writer... I'll have to think about how this might work.
  18. Traffic as a whole is WAY UP. Forum traffic has been relatively steady from 2022-present. Game threads are down a bit this season, which isn't super-surprising given how contentious they can get. Really, there's nothing "wrong" with the site as a whole and it's in a very stable place right now. Traffic is higher than it ever was as BF.net. But that doesn't mean it's perfect or that it shouldn't be improved. I've kinda been ignoring the forums for awhile now and want to get my finger back on the pulse of them. By the way, we have the option to format by conversation instead of the traditional forum format of chronological. But I know forum users ******* HATE that idea. Personally, I'm not against it, I just really want to do what's right for the community and if you all say jump, I'll try my damnedest to jump.
  19. As always, if you are not comfortable sharing something publicly, I'm always available via PM.
  20. I'm not really targeting this conversation about anything specific, I just want to get a read on what people think about the state of the forums and where they would like to see improvement. This could be technical in nature but mostly, I'm curious what people think of the tone, the conversations, and the general demeanor of the community. If you have gripes or compliments or whatever, share them here. I haven't been very active lately (on any of the sites, frankly) and like to check in periodically to gauge how things are going.
  21. With a middle finger? (the copy was given to me by FOCO, blame them, I'm fixing it now)
