  1. The more I think about this trade, I'm inclined to believe it won't work unless it gets bigger. I don't think the Twins will give up Brooks Lee for Burnes. But it's obvious they're interested in trading Polanco. Could they find a bigger deal where it's Brooks Lee and Polanco for Burnes and Wiemer? Though if the Brewers agree to that, then they're almost forced to trade Willy Adames to clear space in the infield... but maybe that's not the worst idea ever.
  2. I agree. I don't like Simeon Woods-Richardson much. Festa is a nice piece but the rest of the package doesn't really appeal to me. The Brewers could absolutely use Polanco but they need more upside in the other pieces IMO.
  3. Ryan Pollak wrote this piece and is a Brewers fan. And me, the supposed "Twins fan", said I don't like this trade for the Brewers. It was literally the first sentence I typed about it.
  4. I've long said Miranda would be a good fit for the Brewers. If he bounces back after his shoulder injury - and I suspect he will - he's the type of "all-around" hitter this team really needs. I'm all for the Brewers acquiring Miranda.
  5. I don't think the Angels have the pieces to make this work.
  6. I don't like this package for the Brewers but, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter what I like or don't like. I suspect the Brewers are going to target some guys we don't expect because they see something they like about that particular player (especially pitchers). If the Brewers don't really like any of the Twins' minor league arms, they won't make a trade. If they do like some of the Twins' minor league arms, I think we might end up blindsided by the names they choose.
  7. He had a bad 2023, for sure. But is that an outlier or a weakness exposed? I don't know enough about him to say.
  8. Came in to say just this. On paper, that trade seems pretty good for the Brewers... until you look at what position Cartaya plays and what the Brewers actually need.
  9. Your final paragraph is why I’m intrigued by the conversations I’ve heard about. I implicitly trust the Brewers to find pitching and think your last paragraph is exactly how it plays out.
  10. Ah, okay. Anyone can choose to believe me or not but we’re part of a group that has been referenced by MLBTR, Passan, Heyman, et al for breaking coverage. And we don’t really try to break news, we focus on coverage. That’s why I’m cagey about saying what team and what player. I don’t want to get it wrong and only mention the things I’m confident that have happened.
  11. I didn’t say bad shape. Burnes is now a year from free agency, Adames had a down year, and Woodruff is lost. This doesn’t happen to the Rays.
  12. He won’t. I mean, it’s possible but 95% he won’t.
  13. I don’t like Mitchell much - a personal opinion - but Burnes and Wiemer for that trio is interesting. Losing those two pitchers will be hard for the Twins to stomach, I suspect.
  14. But just stating my own opinion, I think Burnes + Wiemer for Lee + something is really interesting for both sides.
  15. Burnes wouldn’t get Lee in a straight-up trade. I’ve said for a long time that Brewers fans are going to be disappointed with the Burnes return. He’s not going to net a top 50 prospect in the upper minors, which Lee is. That doesn’t mean the Brewers shouldn’t trade Burnes, though. They’re going to need good players in 2026, too. This is also part of the reason why I was clamoring for the Brewers to trade one of the big three last offseason. Now look where we are.
  16. Polanco is old and moderately expensive but if you can get 120+ games out of him, I *really* like him near the top of the Brewers lineup as a stabilizing force around Yelich. He's "pretty good" at everything offensively, something that the lineup badly needs. If anything, I like this trade quite a bit for the Brewers. If they're targeting Festa and particularly Prielipp, I probably make this trade. I like this trade less for the Twins, as Prielipp is a pretty big loss IF he gets healthy (always a risk). But the stuff I said earlier in this thread? It's not entirely unrelated to this link, hint hint. I guess my general thinking behind it is "if the Brewers see something in multiple pitchers, they should probably just make that trade". The Twins are increasingly good with a pitching pipeline but I have more faith in the Brewers' ability to identify something they like in a young pitcher and make the most of it.
  17. A potential trade idea from Twins Daily. https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/corbin-burnes-trade-rumors-jorge-polanco-david-festa-connor-prielipp/
  18. From Slack three hours ago... but we didn't feel comfortable enough with one source and couldn't confirm it.
  19. This feels like a deal that precedes a series of other deals and will reserve judgment until it all plays out.
  20. I heard "Taylor is going soon" three hours ago but I didn't think it was going to be THIS soon.
  21. Jon Morosi, appearing on MLB Network, spoke about how the Brewers are waiting for Japanese free agent pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto to decide on a team. After that point, the Brewers could more aggressively pursue a trade of Corbin Burnes and/or Willy Adames. This report matches rumors we have heard at Brewer Fanatic; Milwaukee appears to be shopping some of their expiring contracts but currently, there is no urgency in the negotiations and it's unlikely to see a significant trade before Christmas unless the situation changes in the next 48 hours.

  23. I’m not the person with the info, various members of our group chase this stuff down and share it. An update I’m hearing is that there’s zero urgency on anything right now and I’d be surprised if anything materializes before 2024.
