  1. raises to our arbitration-eligible players.
  2. pretty obscene pay for a #4/5 starter.
  3. He's too athletic and has too good of an arm to put at 1B. If all of our OF prospects do well, you trade one.
  4. Barring injuries, Yelich will play 50-100 games in the OF. Taylor will play 100-130 games in the OF. Figure Yelich 300 PA (plate appearances) Taylor 450 PA Mitchell 450 PA Frelick 450 PA Ruiz/Wiemar/Perkins/Other 450 PA Of course, many of them will get some PA at DH.
  5. since we just traded a RF who would have been on a 1yr contract at a reasonable cost, I can see no support for this notion. They might have someone on the OD roster (and some of you think this will be Perkins), just to delay the clock on one of our rookies, but it won't be about replacing Renfroe's production.
  6. 13% of his time at RF, 73% as LF For comparison, Yelich has played 16% of his time as a RF.
  7. I think his ceiling is "quality starter." But even if he had Jace's role, that would be extremely valuable.
  8. I don't know if we can do so now, but it doesn't matter as he'd still be eligible for the rule V. He wasn't on the 40-man at the deadline.
  9. maybe a poor man's Renfroe, and he's trending badly. And he's not a RF.
  10. You're not only getting more wise, but also more handsome.
  11. Barring injury, I think he'll play at least 50 games in the OF, and maybe even 80+.
  12. I think the only way he signs with the Brewers is if he realizes a one-year contract to prove he's healthy is the way to go. Which will only happen if he doesn't get decent multi-year offers.
  13. Because Taylor is still on the team.
  14. You mustn't have gotten the memo. Everyone here is supposed to disagree with me. :-)
  15. He shouldn't be playing every day since he's not good vs. RHP (for a corner OF). And he's not great in the field. I'd rather have Ruiz on the team than him.
  16. None of them should sniff the top 20. For the sake of averaging: Junk 27, . edit: deleted Peguero; BB ref has him as losing rookie status, though I don't know how with only 16 games as a reliever in his ML career. Maybe he was on the ML injured list for an extended period?
  17. Hey, but we got that Perkins guy. . .
  18. Some GM will probably issue a statement like: We weren't sure whether we wanted to pick up Devanney, but the glowing reports from some guy named Joseph Zarr really opened our eyes.
  19. That just means he has to be on-board with the trade. There must be places he'd rather be, given an option.
  20. No financially responsible team would be willing to trade for Yelich. I suppose it's possible for a team with an almost unlimited budget to take him, expecting more of the same from him as a floor and dreaming on him returning to MVP-level production. I'd be exploring such trades, but I doubt you could make one. The alternative would be to trade Yelich and Burnes together for basically nothing (maybe a spare part or very marginal prospect). That doesn't make us better, though we'd be able to afford a couple of serviceable FAs with the cost savings. I think the most likely successful course would be to expose Yelich to weird religious sects that would cause him to retire, if he joined them. That's the best-case scenario, assuming we don't want to indulge in any foul play. I don't think I'm joking.

  22. a high-leverage relief pitcher would be good. Or catcher.
