  1. The only pitcher to pitch 350 innings since 1946 is knuckleballer Wilbur Wood.
  2. Burnes' CY was announced LESS than ONE year ago. So you're just wrong. It is great that you're so brave to make a big deal out of this. There is a mathematical convention for the "timing of things during a year," and your belief is not consistent with that. So, admit your mistake and move on. Be a better man.
  3. My preference is to bring back Burnes and Woodruff for 2023, and be willing to trade them at the deadline if the season goes to hell. Try to improve at the margins (relief pitching, at least) while giving a few rookies their shot. But it's equally reasonable to sell off Burnes, Woodruff, and Adames this offseason, if we get a good offer. The thing is, there might be 6 teams that have the need and the prospect capital to swing the trade; and at most three of them might actually make an offer if Arnold lets them know the boys are available. If we're lucky, one of them makes an offer that works for us. BTW, the author of the piece seems to think it's 2023. Holliday was drafted this season, and Burnes was CY last season (I guess he's still the reigning C.Y.).

  5. Henderson has more trade value by himself than Burnes does (BTV).

  7. That would be something like 12, 18, and 30+M over those 3 years. That seems like an underpay for Burnes who probably would like a 5+ year contract.

  9. I didn't double check, but I've read something about our Quero's younger brother. Is there another Quero catching in the minors? Checking. . . I guess you're right. I can't imagine the family moved from Venezuela to Cuba so they mustn't be (closely) related. Thanks.
  10. So, some defensive measures have Urias better at 3B and some at 2B, so "significant upgrade" is misleading, at best. Let's say there is a significant benefit to moving Urias to 2B (there probably isn't), there's still no reason why Turang should displace Adames. At least Turang played 66 innings at 3B last year. The last time Adames played 3B he was 17 years old in the Dominican League.
  11. I didn't really like the Woodruff trade to the Angels, but I needed to have a catcher ready to play in MLB and O'Hoppe fit the bill. So I tried a different trade. Woodruff for O'Hoppe Trout. Which kinda shows how reasonable the BTV site is about some valuations. Or even better: Woodruff and Yelich for O'Hoppe, Trout, Rendon, and Bush (because I like bush). Rendon has a terrible contract, but only 4 more years.
  12. I said reasonable. There are an infinite number of bad reasons one could conceive.

  14. That's literally the only reasonable reason for displacing Adames--if Turang would be significantly better.

  16. Some are, some aren't. There have always been dominant old starting pitchers. The thing that has changed from 50 years ago is that the medicine is much better at bringing back players from major injuries. It's really hard to predict which pitcher will age well and which won't.

  18. I think fans wouldn't be pissed off if (some of) those players were traded at the deadline next year if the Brewers are clearly out of the race.
