  1. Can we get Andrés Galarraga to be the new hitting coach, or perhaps 'consulting batter psychologist'. Whatever he said to Jesus needs to be needs to be bottled and sold. Guerra is doing a great Hader impersonation.
  2. If they call anyone up to man 2B for just a week I think it’s more likely to be Jake Hager. I think once they ultimately call up Keston it will be with the intent for him to be a major leaguer for the foreseeable future. EDIT: Saladino was called up earlier today, so they are probably all set on the middle infield for the time being. Yep. I really really don't think they are eager to start Hiura's clock. Clock, plus they already have to make a move on the 40 man to fit in Gio. I'm sure they don't want to have to drop 2 players. Saladino's numbers also indicate that he deserves the promotion.
  3. 2M + 2M in bonuses is a pretty low risk deal for the Brewers, and they need the help. I hope he earns the full 2M bonus.
  4. That 300K/start is meaningless if he is granted his release. Any contract he signs is a clean slate.
  5. Was just about to post the same thing. He pitched well last year and was good in 2 of the 3 games in the minors this year (and who knows the conditions during the bad game on April 8th). Also the new agent might be easier to deal with. They'd have to drop someone from the 40. Albers or Hart seem to be the most likely choices.
  6. And without Yelich, the Brewers might be closer to Miami's 4-14 record instead of 12-7
  7. It would be a lot easier to live with Arcia's current production, if Braun, Shaw, and Aguilar weren't hitting significantly worse.
  8. The Brewers are in first place despite a tough schedule, and were a game away from the world series last year. It would take a Vlad Jr. type prospect to create a noticeable buzz. This is not like Corey Hart in 2004. Hiura is off to a good start, but not so phenomenal that he needs to be brought up. If in a month, his hitting makes this look like a slow start, and Shaw, Aguilar and Thames are still struggling, then it would be a good idea to bring him up. Otherwise, let him work in AAA for most of the rest of the season.
  9. Obviously a "taxi squad" type move. Numbers game at San Antonio? Probably, although there is the possibility that he is going to Appleton to keep him close, if they have some injury concerns. Also they should have a good idea of what they have with Petricka, so maybe it doesn't matter as much where he pitches.
  10. Or the opposite, bases loaded and up by 1. Seriously Trout is hot enough right now that an IBB every time is a safer option (only 1000 ops instead of 1500).
  11. is that good? Infinite sounds good. It would be very good if he were still with the Cardinals.
  12. Complimenting the refs/umps by name in game?!?! This gets the prize for game thread post originality. I don't think it's going to catch on. Should we start a thread critiquing the home plate umpire every game? Isn't that called the game day thread.
  13. A sweep of the Cubs will put them 7.5 back on April 7th.
  14. I think Super 2 isn't really relevant for Hiura , because the Brewers will want to give him at least that much time in AAA to see how he adjusts. He's only had half a season at AA and didn't destroy the pitcher there (755 OPS). I hope he will bang on the the big league door this season, but there is no need to rush.
  15. Luck favors the well prepared. Just get an early lead and have Quintana start pressing because the bullpen has been so bad.
  16. An optionable reliever with ML experience. He showed promise a not too long ago, so I'm sure the Brewers are hoping for a change of scenery improvement or lightning in a bottle. I'm certain that he will get at least one stint in Milwaukee, when the pen is overworked.
  17. I really thought that signing was a good one. Maybe it would have been here, but I looked as his stats in Coors, his peripherals and then his name rec and the contract he was likely to get and was really hoping we'd sign him to a 3/27 type deal. And he has been just awful. I kn. ew he had walk problems, but he also got a lot of GB's and K's. And Darvish...I haven't even checked in to see what he's done this year. I know he had a bad start already, but god we dodged a couple bullets that year. I have a feeling we'll be saying that about Kuechel in a few years as well Sometimes it's a lot of fun to be wrong. I thought the same about Chatwood. And all Sterns signed was some guy named Chasin who was good in the cavernous Petco park and bad on the road to pitch in cozy Miller Park. I'm beginning to think that Sterns knows a bit more about player evaluation than I do.
  18. Apparently that 4-2 victory in the third game of the year constitutes a blowout for this year's Brewers. Time to buy Rolaids stock.
  19. But the fact that all the wins by the Brewers will be by 1 or 2 runs, we may have already had heart attacks.
  20. Barring injury, he likely won't be up until September, but will counted on to start next year at second. But I do agree that he is going to be the next one to have an impact, and it will be a big one.
  21. It's too bad he's going to miss this season, given the expectations / aspirations of anyone reading this, but having the surgery now is better than waiting a few months and still having to have the surgery (which is the timetable I was worried about). This. I was worried he would do exactly that. I can understand players not wanting to go under the knife and lose more than a year to a painful rehab program, but so often it just means they lose 2 full years. So at least he will be back sometime next season (assuming the Brewers tender him).
