  1. I feel like a kid coming in throwing 100+mph needs a nickname. Something along the lines of "wild thing"
  2. Wiemer, I predict, will be an instant fan favorite. A 5 tool guy. He will do what Mitchell does and take second on a routine single and hustle plays like that. He has a cannon of a right arm and incredible power. He started swinging the bat better recently, showing more patience at the plate, and started to lower his K rate. Maybe we see him next year.
  3. I saw him pitch in Biloxi, he made a few guys look foolish with his slider. He has a pretty good K/9 rate this year. I think the Brewers are pretty high on him. As I said it would be a "mind-blown" type of add this year but I could see a scenario where they pitch him out of the pen to start with and work his way into starting spot eventually. I think he is slated to pitch tomorrow for Nashville, so I'm really interested to see how he performs
  4. Frelick was given a night off last week and Ruiz had last night off. I would guess they were just given a mental break as both guys have cooled off at the plate recently. As much as I would love to see them in MKE at some point, I'm not expecting it to happen right now. It's probably going to be something like Brosseau and Cousins.
  5. Agree. Love his defense. I was hoping he would be promoted. His .630 August OPS probably doesn't help his case, but he has had a good year overall.
  6. Pretty much agree on this. I don't think the Brewers will bring up any more rookies to try to find at bats for while they are chasing a playoff spot. Maybe if Mitchell struggles we could see him go down and another outfielder like Frelick up. Cousins has been pitching pretty well lately, I would guess he gets one spot My bold OMG prediction- the newly acquired Gasser, nasty stuff
  7. That's what I fear, he will only be used as a pinch runner and late innings defender
  8. All good. Can't wait to see him play in MKE. I've seen him run down some balls hit in the outfield gap this year @ Biloxi that reminds me of a cheetah running down a gazelle- he can cover some ground. His arm is probably considered pretty average though.
  9. Mitchell is a lefty
  10. I'm a little surprised it was Mitchell given he was not on the 40 man already. I guess he does have the edge defensively over Frelick and a year of seniority. Really thought it might be Ruiz since he was already on the roster, but he is more of a defensive unknown. Either way I am pleased as long as he doesn't just ride the bench
  11. His OPS is over .900 over his last 90 days which dates back to Biloxi and after he returned from injury
  12. His defense is incredible. Hopefully he will keep hitting like he is
  13. He is definitely the fourth best outfielder of the four AAA outfield prospects. To be fair the other three are pretty incredible though. I think you are spot on by pointing out Ruiz's inexperience, I believe he will get better.
  14. The reports of his velocity got my attention. Another young prospect to follow,
  15. Maybe he got benched for only having one hit last night
  16. Both of these guys have an OPS over .900 the last 90 days. By hotter, he might be looking at the last week where Frelick has cooled a bit (.750 OPS) while Mitchell posted an OPS over 1.000. Regardless, it is a small sample and both guys have been on fire.
  17. Taylor's August OPS is somewhere in the .500s, it seems inexcusable to me to not at least try to improve that position while still in contention for a playoff spot. While Frelick and Mitchell are producing the best offense in Nashville, Ruiz is not far behind with an OPS in the mid .800s and is already on the 40 man roster. At the very least Ruiz will likely get on base with his contact and speed tools.
  18. Just wanted to bump this thread up with how the Nashville 5 have been performing. Great to see Wiemer have a pretty good last week. Hopefully they can keep it going.
  19. Wiemer's OPS is around .640 over the last month. He shows some flashes here and there at the plate but just hasn't got going yet at AAA. He has had a nagging hand injury that I suspect is hampering him. Hopefully he can play through it this season and get healthy in the offseason. Both he and Mitchell are superb athletes who all out hustle on the field and are both a joy to watch play. Can't wait to see them in MKE.
  20. Turang has really turned the power on of late. He's slugging .550 with a handful of HRs and his OPS is in the .950s over the last month. Mitchell was dealing with some injuries earlier this year which may have accounted for some of that dormancy. Really nice to see his productivity take off in Nashville- he is the best defender of the 4 AAA outfielders too IMO.
  21. Agree and while it is true that many top prospects fail at a spectacular rate in MLB in general, I don't think anyone is expecting Frelick to come in and carry the team on his back and lead them to the playoffs. The point most are making is that he has little left to prove in the minors and are hopeful he will be more productive than our current CF situation.
  22. All fair criticisms of Ruiz. I would just add that at least 3 of 12 hits in his small Nashville sample are bunt hits which account in part for his low slugging percentage. I guess his niche is most likely to be contact and speed- getting on base.
  23. Agree, it's time to FREE-lick. Wouldn't mind seeing what Ruiz can do in Milwaukee either. And Mitchell is quietly getting the job done in Nashville as well. Mitchell needs to stay healthy which hurt him this year in Biloxi but so far in Nashville, he has an .850s OPS, cut down on the K's while still drawing his walks and of course brings that elite D. Imagine the outfield D of Frelick, Mitchell, and Ruiz.
  24. He has had an amazing year and doesn't appear to ever be overmatched at the plate. I personally am of the opinion he would be an upgrade right now in Milwaukee, but I'm sure burning service time is something the FO is weighing with deciding when to call him up.
