  1. http://msn.foxsports.com/...lignment-proposal-022510 Excuse the poor geographics on the map, but I have to say, I like the idea. So what if it is radical. So what if a couple of teams are playing interleague games the last weeks of the season. As Rosenthal says, what is the difference if meaningless interleague games in September vs. May/June. Further, what is the difference between meaningless interleague games in September vs. playing the Pirates or Royals within your own division in September. I like creating more geographical rivalries and the Brewers proposed division in one of his scenarios of Brewers, Cubs, Cards, White Sox and Royals seems well balanced.
  2. If the Brewers regular season ran into the beginning of basketball season would the Brewers preempt the Bucks or do the Brewers just naturally play second fiddle to the Bucks in the State of Wisconsin?
  3. The internet has spoiled us. 10 years ago we would get an update every Sunday. Now when it is raining and we dont get updates on the rain we are upset. Im not picking on you TLB, you speak for all of us, I am just pointing it out. It irks me when I hear "baseball fans" complain and say they wont watch the games on TV if they are not in HD. Good thing you arent living in my house and slumming it with an "old fashioned" television or you would never see a game. Im all for ripping poor reports from our reporters, or poor production from FSN, but sometimes our complaints are pretty nit-picky as a result of our advancement in technology.
  4. I subscribed to MLB.tv about 8 years ago when it first debuted and I lived in Ann Arbor. It was fantastic then and I know they have improved a lot since then so I would highly recommend it.
  5. WOOT!!!!
  6. Hey-yo if this is the same Bf.net keeper league that I was in last year, Im going to have to punt. I wasnt a fan of the set up with no limit on transactions and such. Too much streaming going on for my tastes. Anyway... If anyone is interested, I am putting together a LIVE and IN PERSON auction draft/league that will draft in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on March 27th at Noon. if you are interested, and are serious about fantasy baseball please contact me via IM.
  7. Thanks Toby. I will take a listen to just about any band you recommend. I hope they are on emusic.
  8. With Texas, Missouri and Nebraska the Big 10 would be loaded. Any school (that has been mentioned) but Rutgers would be great. I think the Big 12 could be in trouble. If Texas or Nebraska leaves for the Big 10, then I think Colorado would push for a Pac 10 transfer. Of course, the Big 12 could probably then reload with Utah, TCU and Boise State, not that those schools are on the level of Texas and Nebraska in overall athletics, but they would seem to be the logical solutions to maintain the Big 12 as an elite conference.
  9. There hasnt been a situation on Earth where a restaurant has offered 200k for someone spilling coffee on themselves. If you are referring to the infamous MacDonalds case, the woman in question only asked for compensatory damages for the skin grafts she needed on her lap from the hot coffee that McDonlads was warned was too hot and unsafe previously. It wasnt until they went to trial - for those medical bills - that the jury was so disgusted at McDonalds for not heeding warnings about the fact that their coffee was 20 degrees hotter than what was safe for consumers and basically telling this woman to go pound sand that the jury awarded punitive damages to her as well as her medical bills. She never rejected anything and even in your hypothetical, by rejecting the 200k, she would have risked losing everything, Hart was guaranteed a raise even if he lost I wouldnt call Hart's raise undeserved. He is decent, 20/20 talent isnt readily available off the shelf and a player who is arguably worse than he is - Jeff Francouer - got 5 million. If there is any problem with the arbitration system, it is that besides a player getting his feelings hurt, there really isnt much downside. I cant call Hart greedy. I can call him average, but even an average major league right fielder can get 7 million on the open market.
  10. Yeah, he looked as unhealthy as any 53 year-old I've seen. He seemed genuine though and it is a huge loss for the show, not to mention his family and crew.
  11. Bring Back Petty.
  12. Are you sure it was a man's relationship?I suppose it could have been a woman. I guess I just assumed it was a man's relationship since one of the searches was how to impress a french woman, but then again, there is a 10% chance it was a woman marrying a woman.
  13. You might be holding Google to a different standard than say Doritos or Budweiser or any tangible product, like someone said above. We all know that Budweiser is beer and Doritos are snack food, Snickers is a candy bar, etc. etc.. We know Google is a search engine and rather than eat it or drink it we consume the product by using it. They advertised it in a very clever way by telling a man's relationship story through search terms on Google. I really liked it.
  14. I thought some of the commercials were great. The Snickers commercial with Betty White was the best. Punxatawny Palomalu was also hilariously disturbing. The Favre one was funny even if it was old. The Bud Light Lost/Stranded on the Island was really funny too. The google search commercial about France.
  15. Take a look at some of those ACC schedules, they are pretty weak. Heck, Virginia lost to Penn State at home I believe. Wisconsin is probably the second best team in the ACC, and they have already beat the best team in that conference. As far as the Big 12 goes, I agree that Bucky would be 3rd in that conference. In the Big 12, they are probably 4th.
  16. Anyone else read this as "Need Help Corking Bats"?
  17. Interesting. Of all the schools I heard Pitt definitely is one of the better options. Is the conference name still going to be the same? I suppose, with Minnesota and Northwestern as part of the conference, Big Ten is still probably an accurate conference name.
  18. So it begs the question. 1) where might he be traded to next off season and 2) where might he sign as a FA. Boston makes the most sense as they are loaded with pitching and David Ortiz will be nearer to the end come 2011-2012. Although, it will probably be the Yankees and we'll probably take back three pieces of high A junk that Buster Olney loves.
  19. I wonder why FTJ stopped posting here. I loved his contributions.
  20. I dont think Doyle has anything to do with this. As I understand it $800 million is coming from Washington as part of the Federal Stimulus.
  21. I love the idea of high speed rail. Unfortunately, I dont think I would ever use it. I have a family of 5 and we will soon be a family of 6. One minivan solves our problems. Having to coordinate a young family with public transportation and train stops, schedules, etc. etc. would be a nightmare.
  22. Trot Nixon 2.0. I suppose though, throw it against the wall, see if it sticks.
  23. The outdoor hockey is a good idea, but who would play there, the Admirals? The Badgers would probably prefer Camp Randall where their fans are and where there are twice as many seats,
  24. Yeah, I agree that we are both correct. In the hand of a debt collection agency it is better to NOT pay it as they will have a much harder time proving you actually signed anything, assuming they they do sue you, which as you said is unlikely. Now back to a more pleasant topic....divorce...yuck.
  25. Menace and trwi7: At the very least, I need to explore your theory Menace because as an attorney I have been involved with defending clients in lawsuits who are being sued by credit card companies and tried to contest them in whatever manner I can and even while sitting in the judges chambers talking about the issues of the case the judge simply asks me if my client is denying that he or she had the credit card in question because as far as the judge sees it, these are open and shut cases. In fact, I dont know any attorney that currently uses this tactic in defense of credit card default. HYPOTHETICAL: What if you have a credit card with a $15,000.00 balance and stop paying the monthly payments today. Then the credit card sends it to a law firm 9 months later, the law firm writes you a letter saying you are in default and have X amount of days to cure the default (i.e. pay all the payments you have missed, in this case lets say it is $1,500.00) or suit will be started against you. You then tell them to stick it, and the law firm sues you for breach of contract just 18 months after you stopped paying on the debt?? Are you saying that in defense of the law suit in court that you just need to say that they cant sue you because it is an unsecured debt and that the case is over? Because when you sign up for a credit card you do sign paperwork in the application and that amounts to a written contract. The contract is an exchange of a line of credit for a promise to repay. If you get the line of credit and you dont pay it back based on the terms of the contract you are in breach of the contract. If you are talking about being sued after the SOL has run, then yes, you are correct the SOL bars any suit after the SOL. THe SOL is usually 6 years - after your last payment. In the above example, they can, will and do sue you. Debt collection firms are subject to different rules than law firms that specialize in debt collection. You are correct when you say that debt collection firms cant say they will sue...because they cant actually sue you and they cant threaten you with things they cannot do. However, a law firm CAN threaten you with litigation, because they actually CAN sue you. In fact, I am in receipt of a complaint in a civil action right now. It alleges: 1. That the defendant(s) applied for a credit card and thereby entered into a contract, and that pursuant thereto the defendants were issued a credt card which is the subject of this action. 2. That the plaintiff is the current holder of said credit card account, the plaintiff has performed all its duties and obligations under the contract, but the defendant has defaulted by failing to make the payments due thereon. 3. That any required notice to cure default was given to the defendants and that the defendants failed to cure the same and are therefore in default of the above-mentioned contract. That is the basis of any and all complaint in a credit card action.
