    Holy crap I would turn handsprings if we signed Pedro. Starter, Set up man, closer, I dont care. Even for just a year, it would be awesome, and if he is healthy (a big if I know) and if he only pitches from June to end of the year I think he could be a very good additional piece. If I recall he looked decent in the WBC. NICE!

    Just curious, getting past the pointlessness of your response (it adds nothing to the thread), what would you have said last April had there been a 26 page thread about trading for CC Sabathia? Probably the exact same thing, as the Brewers werent even mentioned as a possible destination for Sabathia before June 1. At least the Brewers have been occasionally brought up in the Peavy discussion to this point and despite the fact that Peavy may control his destination the Brewers have the right set of prospects to make the trade happen should Peavy give it the green light.

    I dont think JJ Hardy is going to be the SS in any deal for Jake Peavy. The Padres are looking to trade Peavy to avoid paying his large salary while they rebuild with some youth. Hardy, who is arby eligible for two more years, then probably due a huge payday doesnt fit what the Padres are doing. At least with Peavy they have him under control for a few more years. Hardy could not resign and leave via FA in half the time Peavy could. What Milwaukee could/should really hope happens is for Brent Brewer to take off this spring and become a big prospect and then toss SD players like Brewer, Salome, and Jeffress. I dont know if that is too much or too little but I do believe that Hardy isnt a good fit.

    They get mad on OOTP for hitting down in the order now? What version is this? It used to only be if I used a SP out of the bullpen or didnt negotiate a contract extension mid-season.

    I might be buying a used piano. An Upright Belarus. Here is a picture of it. The guy wants $150.00. I want the piano for my daughter who might be taking Piano Lessons soon. I want it to look decent in the house (this one seems to be in nice condition), sound good (doesnt need to be great).     I can never remember from year to year when we can expect leaves on the trees but I am anxious for it to happen. I can see some very small buds on some branches but nothing resembling leaves. So when is the typical time that Wisconsin trees grow leaves again?

    I dont follow basketball much, but wont next year's team be adding Michael Redd, Andruw Bogut and the #10 pick? That is a pretty big bump up from this year...one would think.

    As an aside it appears that Gamel's minor league number of choice is #17. No Brewer has worn #17 since Jim Gantner's retirement in 1992. Wonder if he asked for it if the Brewers would issue it. Gantner still hangs out with the team in Arizona during spring training, if I recall, and I am sure dons his old jersey which might be why it hasnt been issued.

    I see why he was traded, he was blocked and developing plate discipline a bit slowly, but as others have said, it was the tossing him in for Nix and Mench that makes the deal sting. A Carlos Lee for Cordero deal would have been a push or slight win for us, then when we had to endure Mench and Nix while giving up on Cruz makes it sting a bit more.

    Hit his 5th HR tonight. Could Melvin have missed the boat with this guy? He was a throw in for the Carlos Lee deal.

    The thing with Matheny though is he didn't even flinch. That's true, he just stood there spitting blood and teeth, he did leave the game, IIRC (though it was probably not his choice). He then trotted down the first base, without ever touching his face, and took his base. The Brewers trainers came out and eventually had to escort him off the field, against his wishes.

    Id be interested to know how many baserunners Braun has stranded since the home opener. Seems everytime he has come up the past week there have been guys on base he hasnt delivered any of them.

    holy smoke. I saw that it was 5-1 while I was watching the Mets and Padres (while cursing the Bucks game being on), by the time I got a glass of water and fired up the internet it was 7-5 Reds. Unbelievable.
