  1. I hesitate to use the words "must win" on August 1, but the Brewers need to get going and start beating up on the dregs on their schedule. Reds face a tough pitching matchup today against Steele. Great time to gain that game back and be in control of your own destiny in the Central once again.
  2. Another great thing about the Canha trade: Joey and Sal platoon....
  3. Nice thing about Canha is it'll allow us to have less lineups with Turang and Wiemer at the bottom of the order.
  4. This puts me on the side of we need one more bat.
  5. Right. And the Rays have certainly earned the benefit of the doubt. But I don't see moving Manzardo for that type of starter. Of course, I'm quite high on Manzardo.
  6. I can see folks being somewhat disappointed with this move, but I'll tell you what. That .370 OBP since June 1 looks really nice in our lineup. I still think we need one more "bopper" in the middle of the order. We'll see. Jarvis is just a guy.
  7. A 4.05 FIP doesn't make him a TOR starter or needle mover, though. He's been more solid-to-good than elite.
  8. Thing is is I don't know if I'd call Civale a TOR starter, despite the year he's having. Castillo is a lot better than Civale.
  9. Here's the list: Acuna, Strider, Carroll, Rodriguez, Tatis Jr., Franco, Henderson. Even then, I'm unsure about a couple of these names.
  10. Helps us tonight and could really help us for the rest of the season. Love it lol
  11. Yep. Civale is good, but I don't think he's a difference maker. Though, he does have two years of control left after this season. FWIW, BTV says this is a slight overpay by Cleveland, but I disagree there as Manzardo is an absolute elite bat.
  12. Holy crap. There's the biggest overpay of the deadline. Nice coup for Cleveland. Now, I kind of want to know what Burnes would have fetched. Don't get me wrong, Civale is having a great season, but he's drastically overperforming his underlying data and is not what I would call a needle moving arm.
  13. I disagree and think you're very wrong, but I'll let you and your contrarian stance have the last word on this.
  14. If you think my reactions just come from the telecast, then you don't know what you're talking about, considering I simultaneously follow almost every game on baseball savant. That pitch yesterday was a strike on the telecast AND on gameday AND on baseball savant AND on umpscorecards.
  15. I can’t see why he wouldn’t take a Rodríguez, Carroll, Acuna deal. Brewers would have a good idea of that already. If they offered him, I’d be inclined to think he accepts it.
  16. We could negate any concerns about service time by signing him to a 10+ year extension like Rodríguez, Carroll, etc. I personally think getting his feet wet in a playoff race is more valuable to his development than anything the minors can offer at this point.
  17. Yep. That’s a 19 year old maturing rapidly in front of our very eyes.
  18. True. But he's also 19 and developing rapidly. He's a different hitter now than he was at the beginning of the season. I wouldn't fault the Brewers if they just stayed the course. In fact, that's probably the prudent move. But it's no longer the stretch the stretch it was. I don't see why Juan Soto could do it, but Chourio couldn't. Chourio is that kind of talent, and I think it could help his development in the long run. I also don't see AAA offering any more of a challenge to him than AA currently is.
  19. I think it's clear at this point he's talking to the White Sox about Eloy Jimenez, as there's just too much smoke there for him not to be. That would be more impactful than Cron and/or Grichuk. We chose Santana over Cron anyways.
  20. Jackson Chourio, who clubbed his 16th HR of the season this evening, has made an absolute mockery of AA pitching over the past month at age 19, 4 months. He's now striking out less than 10% of the time. It doesn't look like AA has any more challenges to offer him... Could the time be drawing near where we get to see him in Milwaukee? Until recently, I was thinking the earliest we would see him up is June of 2024, with him starting the year in AAA. However, this last month has altered my thought process. I truly think he could skip AAA and come up to the big league club right now and be the 2nd/3rd most productive outfielder on the roster. I wouldn't call him up quite yet, but I would seriously consider it at the end of the month if he keeps this up a la Garrett Mitchell. That way, you allow him to impact the playoff race and get his feet wet for a run at the OD roster and ROY in 2024, which could net us a comp pick. Could also potentially work out a 10+ year extension a la Julio Rodriguez, Corbin Carroll, etc, too, thereby negating any service time concerns. It's worth noting that Chourio now has 350 more at-bats at AA than Juan Soto...Juan Soto was called up to the majors from AA at age 19 and proceeded to OPS over .900 in 116 games...
  21. Jackson Chourio now has 350 more at-bats than Juan Soto did in AA...Juan Soto was called up to the majors from AA at 19 and OPSd over 900...
  22. Yes, but I want him to drop my jaw while helping us get to the postseason and then win ROY and get us a comp pick! lol
  23. It's a shame so many were using the first half (w/ tacked ball) to try to impugn Jackson.
