  1. Since June 1, the Brewers have gotten a league low 27 wRC+ from the 1B position. Carlos Santana is an immediate upgrade in every way shape and form. He also plays great defense.
  2. I like Guilarte better than Severino, so definitely okay with the cost.
  3. I would say it means Tellez is going to be your new DH whenever he does return. Not good for Winker. Not good for Hiura.
  4. Keston Hiura at time of callup: 22. Jackson Chourio right now: 19 and youngest player in AA by several months.
  5. If I'm not mistaken, the Brewers have the weakest remaining SOS in the NL Central. Which will only get weaker after this weekend. https://www.tankathon.com/mlb/remaining_schedule_strength
  6. Yelich’s full no trade clause makes this about a 1% likelihood. Both player and organization committed to each other for the length of the contract when they signed the dotted line.
  7. They somehow resurrected Heyward and turned the back the clock on JD Martinez. Definitely wouldn't put it past them.
  8. Right. I'm not particularly high on those prospects either. But that's the best they've got in the minors right now and they just gave em away for two rentals, who I doubt move the needle in the AL playoff race. Most likely scenario is that Angels miss the playoffs, lose Ohtani for nothing, and then are in a huge mess organizationally with Trout and Rendon's contracts on their books and little in the way of young talent other than O'Hoppe and Neto.
  9. Angels just gave away their top two prospects currently in the minors for two rentals. They better make the playoffs and/or resign Ohtani, or they're going to be in a lot of trouble organizationally, particularly if Trout keeps on missing months at a time.
  10. The first blockbuster of the trade deadline has just gone down. Suffice to say, Ohtani is definitely not getting traded now.
  11. Ohtani is not being traded by the Angels. He's off the market, as the Angels are going for the postseason.
  12. And with your approach of mortgaging the entire farm, we'll still almost certainly fail to win the World Series and won't even get back to the postseason for a good decade or so. Braves lost Acuna in 2021 and "only" added Pederson, Duvall, and Soler. That's along the line of moves you'll see from Arnold at the deadline. I don't think anyone disagrees with you that they need to add bats. But they're going to do it "responsibly", as they should.
  13. Thing is your approach is almost certainly not going to be enough to get you to the WS, let alone win it either. The MLB postseason is a crapshoot. Better to get there as many times as you can and "get hot" at the right time a la. 2019 Nationals, 2021 Braves, etc. It's pretty much worked for the Rays (2 WS appearances in my lifetime) vs. the Brewers (0). FWIW, you do, in fact, seem to be emotional when you're constantly using caps in your posts.
  14. This team is constructed to win with its pitching and defense. You're not changing that at the deadline, nor should you try to. What you can do is add some bats so that you give your pitching and defense more "wiggle room", whereas right now they have very little. That doesn't contradict Arnold whatsoever.
  15. That trade would have very little value to the Angels, as good as Burnes is, compared to the offers they could get from other teams were Ohtani to be put on the market. Young, controllable talent galore.
  16. Not even the site contrarian. It's not like the Brewers haven't used extra payroll space to go out and sign a Yasmani Grandal before, right? Or to sign Yelich to a $200 million dollar extension...
  17. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the Brewers didn't trade any of Burnes, Woodruff (and Adames) this offseason. And I don't think I would get all too mad about it or fault them either.
  18. Sounds like a great way to run a team into the ground and bring back the 1983-2008 Brewers. You can't guarantee the Brewers will win a World Series if they trade Chourio for an Alonso, for example. But I can guarantee you right now that the Brewers won't be signing guys with Chourio's talent in FA or trading for them in exchange for Burnes/Woodruff. 1.5 years of Alonso for a guaranteed 6+ years of Chourio? No way. The only types of players I would trade Chourio for (the Yordan Alvarezes, Julio Rodriguezes of the world, etc.) aren't available and won't be made available even if you offered up Chourio. The Brewers literally already tried this strategy in 2011 and it failed to bring Milwaukee a World Series, while fueling the Royals' consecutive World Series' runs, as @sveumrulespoints out. The MLB postseason is just too much of a crapshoot.
  19. You just know the Dodgers are going to turn him into an all-star hitter....
  20. Well, they're not trading Chourio. I can disabuse you of that notion right now. And you'll be glad we didn't in a year or two. Of course, I doubt you'll admit you were wrong. According to your logic, the Angels would have been well-served trading Mike Trout in 2010. Or the Padres and Tatis Jr. in 2018. Or the Nationals and Juan Soto in 2018. Because that's the company Chourio's in with what he's currently doing as a teenager in AA.
  21. Of course, not. No prospect is. But you're not replacing his talent in a Burnes/Woodruff trade, considering those types of prospects are never traded to begin with.
