  1. He’s not wrong though…Darvish would clearly be the #3 starter on the Mets, Braves, Phillies, Brewers, etc.
  2. Shame that we won’t see Corbin and Woody over as many innings as Sheets and Higuera. Granted, pitchers aren’t going as many innings these days and Corbin and Woody started off in the bullpen…But either would be safe bets to surpass Sheets and Higuera for total impact.

  4. Let's funnel this into the bball program as well. Pay Wahl to stay for one more year, keep Essegian happy, and purchase a high-level transfer.
  5. I'd take a comp draft pick for Stearns. But do the Astros even have any to trade??
  6. I saw that quote and wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the direction they went in. However, I do think the conversation shifts if Frelick lights it up in spring training, which he is quite capable of doing.
  7. Come on Brock. You don’t need sleep! We’re talking about the move of the decade here.
  8. This adds depth to the IF at the very least. They now have the option of playing Urias at 2B, where he profiles best. However, Anderson hasn’t been the greatest with the bat over the past two seasons…If he can OPS over 700 and put up a WAR at or above 1.5, I’ll be happy. I really don’t see the need to keep Turang in AAA any longer, other than to gain an extra year of control. He’s been there for 1.5 seasons already…I do like that this allows him to fill the Jace Peterson role, which is better than relying on him to be the starter at 2B right away.
  9. I'd think that the Marlins would prefer Gorman over O'Neill as O'Neill only has two years of control left, which is the same as Lopez. If I were the Marlins, though, I would probably start with Nootbar or Carlson...
  10. True. But it's still surprising as there's only a .03 difference in their ERA's and the hardware should be enough to cancel out the innings difference imo. Projections also had Burnes earning more than Woody, too.
  11. I don’t know, a Cy Young Award and being arguably the best pitcher in baseball over the past 3 years should be worth something imo…Granted, Corbin did file for less than Woody.
  12. I'd be totally okay with what Steamer currently has him projected for (122 wRC+ and 2.2 WAR). I could definitely see that happening with the banning of the shift and a reversion to the mean with his BABIP.
  13. Yes, because you should take what one expert/evaluator says and accept it as the law (pun intended). As opposed to looking at a multiplicity of experts/evaluators and averaging out their collective opinions. But you so obviously don’t know what you’re talking about, so I’m just gonna stop here..
  14. Who says? Actual prospect industry scouts, experts, and evaluators...You know, people who do this for a living. As @sveumrules pointed out, Chourio and Tatis Jr. are/were top 5 multitool teenage prospects, while Singleton was a hit-only prospect who peaked at #25. Even then, Chourio's age 18 season with the bat was significantly better than Singleton's age 18 season with the bat. Also, the DSL, while technically "rookie ball", is in practice a level beneath the Brewers' Arizona rookie affiliates. Henry Mendez, for instance, was in the same international FA class as Chourio, but still did the DSL AND ACL, while Chourio skipped the ACL entirely and then progressed all the way to AA. But, yes, 25 years and Prince Fielder are more relevant for thinking about how the Brewers will handle Chourio's progression...
  15. And Chourio is already at 2 (BA) following his age 18 season...
  16. No. Tatis Jr. and Singleton are not, and never will be, remotely comparable prospects. Tatis Jr. and Chourio are comparable. But Singleton has no relevance to them. When you look at Chourio's actual comparables (Soto, Acuna, Tatis, Vlad Jr., Rodriguez) you can see that it's more than a "blind guess". Not a certainty, but not a blind guess... Also, you do realize that, in this past season alone, Chourio skipped rookie ball entirely, and then moved up three whole levels??? Not sure why 25 years or Prince Fielder is relevant here when we have definitive, recent evidence that the Brewers are willing to push Chourio up the ladder...
  17. First of all, you can take his winter league stats with less than a grain of salt considering the extremely small sample size and the fact that he's more than a decade younger than the average player.... Second, he's not as far away as you think. The median expectation from industry experts is that he'll arrive in the majors sometime next season, while there are a non-trivial number of evaluators who think he could make his debut later in this coming season. I also contest that it's no more than a "blind guess" that he'll pan out for the Brewers. What he's accomplished at his age is something that only a handful of prospects have done in recent years (Soto, Acuna, Tatis Jr., Vlad Jr., Rodriguez, etc.), and all of them ended up becoming superstars. Chourio could ultimately prove to be the exception given the inherently fickle nature of prospects, but it's certainly more than a "blind guess" given the company he's established himself to be in...
  18. Honestly, if we're talking about surplus value, Chourio is probably up there with Corbin Burnes as our most valuable franchise asset. Indeed, this is backed up by BTV, which has Chourio just three points shy of Burnes. I get that he's a prospect. but he's among the elites of elites in terms of prospects (Acuna, Rodriguez, Soto, etc.) for what he's already accomplished at his age.
  19. We'll see. I just don't think that one rough, injury plagued season is indicative that he'll be a problem in the clubhouse.
  20. Zero complaints from his time as a Red. By all accounts he was a great teammate there….Last year was a tough season for him. The toughest of his MLB career. I’m sure a lot of it was borne out of frustration.
  21. According to BTV, it's only one Mitchell...BTV isn't the Bible but I think it's pretty accurate that Mitchell and Cabrera are similar value-wise.
  22. Exactly. ATM, it's pretty close to an even swap. And one that fulfills the needs of both parties.
  23. Exactly. ATM, it's pretty close to an even swap. And one that fulfills the needs of both parties.
  24. FWIW, BTV has Cabrera and Mitchell at even value...
