  1. Thing is your approach is almost certainly not going to be enough to get you to the WS, let alone win it either. The MLB postseason is a crapshoot. Better to get there as many times as you can and "get hot" at the right time a la. 2019 Nationals, 2021 Braves, etc. It's pretty much worked for the Rays (2 WS appearances in my lifetime) vs. the Brewers (0). FWIW, you do, in fact, seem to be emotional when you're constantly using caps in your posts.
  2. This team is constructed to win with its pitching and defense. You're not changing that at the deadline, nor should you try to. What you can do is add some bats so that you give your pitching and defense more "wiggle room", whereas right now they have very little. That doesn't contradict Arnold whatsoever.
  3. That trade would have very little value to the Angels, as good as Burnes is, compared to the offers they could get from other teams were Ohtani to be put on the market. Young, controllable talent galore.
  4. Not even the site contrarian. It's not like the Brewers haven't used extra payroll space to go out and sign a Yasmani Grandal before, right? Or to sign Yelich to a $200 million dollar extension...
  5. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the Brewers didn't trade any of Burnes, Woodruff (and Adames) this offseason. And I don't think I would get all too mad about it or fault them either.
  6. Sounds like a great way to run a team into the ground and bring back the 1983-2008 Brewers. You can't guarantee the Brewers will win a World Series if they trade Chourio for an Alonso, for example. But I can guarantee you right now that the Brewers won't be signing guys with Chourio's talent in FA or trading for them in exchange for Burnes/Woodruff. 1.5 years of Alonso for a guaranteed 6+ years of Chourio? No way. The only types of players I would trade Chourio for (the Yordan Alvarezes, Julio Rodriguezes of the world, etc.) aren't available and won't be made available even if you offered up Chourio. The Brewers literally already tried this strategy in 2011 and it failed to bring Milwaukee a World Series, while fueling the Royals' consecutive World Series' runs, as @sveumrulespoints out. The MLB postseason is just too much of a crapshoot.
  7. You just know the Dodgers are going to turn him into an all-star hitter....
  8. Well, they're not trading Chourio. I can disabuse you of that notion right now. And you'll be glad we didn't in a year or two. Of course, I doubt you'll admit you were wrong. According to your logic, the Angels would have been well-served trading Mike Trout in 2010. Or the Padres and Tatis Jr. in 2018. Or the Nationals and Juan Soto in 2018. Because that's the company Chourio's in with what he's currently doing as a teenager in AA.
  9. Of course, not. No prospect is. But you're not replacing his talent in a Burnes/Woodruff trade, considering those types of prospects are never traded to begin with.
  10. Brewers are not getting a Chourio if/when they trade Burnes and Woodruff in the offseason. You're talking about a consensus top 5 prospect in baseball and probably the highest-upside player in all the minors.
  11. Except what Arnold is saying is they have to be cautious about who they add, especially if it’s a non-1B or DH, because whatever additional offensive value is provided can easily be canceled out and more by giving away runs on the defensive end. That’s not what you want with a team that is going to win games for the foreseeable future with its pitching and defense. You totally took his quote out of context. If they add a bat, it has to make sense from an entire team perspective, which is what really matters. Now, cool your jets because there’s some of those guys out there and I’m inclined to believe Arnold will get one of them.
  12. Yeah, I’m actually intrigued with the stuff Mejia has shown so far. Megill has good stuff, too, but is prone to wildness and has a longer track record of not being a very good MLB pitcher. Makes sense to keep them both.
  13. Well, we sure as heck dominated the Reds this season. Now it's up to the rest of MLB to beat them.
  14. Nvm no need lol. That's why I'm not the manager.
  15. I would steal Frelick here and see if you can't get an insurance run with a knock from Monasterio.
  16. You got your answer with McCalvy's article. Hiura has gotten worse on defense, which limits him to DH. As for his bat, their scouts and underlying data say it's highly unlikely to translate to the big leagues and that we'll see more of the same with 40% K rates and unpredictable production. They note his recent changes, though, so we'll see what happens at the deadline.
  17. Hiura does not have the best offensive #s in the system.
  18. Gotta love Tyrone Taylor's .390 OPS.
  19. Brewers with some loud contact that inning despite nobody getting on. Hopefully it carries over the rest of the game.
