  1. Justin Wilson and Aaron Ashby seem like pretty good bullpen adds to me.
  2. Well, I'm glad that you're at least admitting now they upgraded 1B! Luis Urias is smoking hot in AAA right now and has been a 110 wRC+ hitter the last two seasons. That would upgrade 2B and/or 3B. I'll give you DH. What we've been getting from Winker isn't close to good enough. We'll see what they do there. A Ruf/Rowdy platoon, assuming they're back in relatively short order, wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, though. LF is obviously set. CF is set between Wiemer, Frelick, and Perkins. They could use another corner OF bat, perhaps Grichuk? I personally think they need at least one more above average bat (Grichuk, Candelario, etc.). We'll see what they do.
  3. Yeah, I think he's earned his way back to the majors already. I would start him in the IF right now alongside Monasterio and Turang.
  4. How on earth can you be freaking out when there's still 5 whole days to go until the deadline? The fact that we got someone this far out is pretty surprising and a good job by Arnold. Come back to me on Tuesday at 5 PM, and then we can talk about whether they did enough.
  5. Yes. Better pitching would in fact help, considering Burnes and a healthy Woodruff back to back (to go with a shutdown bullpen) would be perhaps the single biggest reason why this team would have a shot at advancing in the postseason... You just don't get it do you? All you care about is the "name". "Oh there will be many bigger bats than him acquired by the deadline!" But, I just demonstrated to you how significant an upgrade it is from what has been BY FAR the worst 1B production in the majors over the last two months (27 wRC+ vs. 112 wRC for Santana). And we didn't have to sacrifice any defense nor our top 30 prospects to do so!
  6. Despite his regression with the glove, I'd be all for this as Arenado absolutely kills the Brewers along with Goldschmidt.
  7. Jeimer Candelario is who I want personally. Double down on defense AND hitting.
  8. https://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgers/story/2023-07-27/nolan-arenado-dodgers-trade-talks-cardinals-mlb
  9. Not to mention, assuming everything goes well with these next two rehab starts, the Brewers will be adding a literal all-star to the team in Brandon Woodruff.
  10. Since June 1st here has been the Brewers' production at 1B: .186/.233/.241, 27 wRC+. (Worst in baseball). Now, here's Santana's production during the same timeframe .244/.319/.470, 112 wRC+. It doesn't have to be a "big name" to be a big upgrade.
  11. Urias is heating up in AAA, too. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him up and starting on the MLB club very soon. Unless Miller starts hitting better, he’s in real danger of getting passed up for playing time in the infield.
  12. And they've absolutely failed in "throwing money at it". While mortgaging all of their prospect capital and failing at developing whatever prospects they do have. Which is why your take that they're somehow not one of the worst run organizations is "laughable" (but entirely on brand for you).
  13. Yes. I completely forgot about him. He's perhaps the likeliest to go.
  14. Carlos Santana will obviously have to be added to the 40 man and the major league roster. There is a 40 man spot available due to Jason Alexander's outright. On the 26 man roster, the most likely candidates for the option are Toro, Perkins, and Owen Miller. I also wonder if Urias won't be recalled soon, perhaps as early as this weekend. He has really heated up in AAA and with his track record in the major leagues, he's gotta get the shot in the infield.
  15. Since June 1, the Brewers have gotten a league low 27 wRC+ from the 1B position. Carlos Santana is an immediate upgrade in every way shape and form. He also plays great defense.
  16. I like Guilarte better than Severino, so definitely okay with the cost.
  17. I would say it means Tellez is going to be your new DH whenever he does return. Not good for Winker. Not good for Hiura.
  18. Keston Hiura at time of callup: 22. Jackson Chourio right now: 19 and youngest player in AA by several months.
  19. If I'm not mistaken, the Brewers have the weakest remaining SOS in the NL Central. Which will only get weaker after this weekend. https://www.tankathon.com/mlb/remaining_schedule_strength
  20. Yelich’s full no trade clause makes this about a 1% likelihood. Both player and organization committed to each other for the length of the contract when they signed the dotted line.
  21. They somehow resurrected Heyward and turned the back the clock on JD Martinez. Definitely wouldn't put it past them.
  22. Right. I'm not particularly high on those prospects either. But that's the best they've got in the minors right now and they just gave em away for two rentals, who I doubt move the needle in the AL playoff race. Most likely scenario is that Angels miss the playoffs, lose Ohtani for nothing, and then are in a huge mess organizationally with Trout and Rendon's contracts on their books and little in the way of young talent other than O'Hoppe and Neto.
