  1. Had 27 at-bats on the Padres roster from 7/12 until 7/29, literally just before the Hader trade. And no, you can't have a piece, cause I don't share cake with people who are only out to "ruffle feathers".
  2. LOL Ruiz was in the show even before being traded to the Brewers. Your first sentence says it all as you're not actually interested in honest conversation, but in "ruffling the feathers of the Stearns apologists." So, forgive us for not taking anything you say in the following sentences seriously. Rarely have I seen a single post be wrong on so many levels, but this may take the cake.
  3. Huhh? His best month was September/October, where he had essentially two times at-bats as the first month....Again, led all MLB catchers in wRC+. I'm just going off of https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/, which is known to be used in some capacity by MLB GM's.
  4. "As mentioned to me before in other threads"???? This is literally the first time I've even proposed this swap. so not sure what you're talking about there. To be honest, your tone is pretty condescending. Anyways, I disagree, because hitters are more valuable than relievers, which is all that Puk is at this point. Moreover, if the A's think there's something to Hiura's adjustments at the plate, they might think they can eventually flip him for prospect(s). Moreover, the value lines up evenly per https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/. Treinen's precise value is hard to pin down as he was injured for most of this season. I just don't see the Dodgers picking up the option given that they also have some key players set to hit FA. On the open market, it may take something around $10 mil. to get him to come to Milwaukee.
  5. Gasser and Ruiz are not "lottery tickets". They're borderline top 100 prospects at this point and proven performers at the AAA level. A lottery ticket is a prospect in the DSL or Low-A, who has potential yet is light on actual production. I.E., Freddy Peralta in the Adam Lind trade.
  6. And we were set to lose him for nothing in free agency or receive an even lesser return this offseason if we continued to hang on to him....Overall, your perspective is retrospective, when it should be prospective, meaning the value that Hader would have provided to us in the last year and a half of his team control. Gasser and/or Ruiz becoming major contributors over the course of a potential 6 years of team control would almost certainly exceed that value.
  7. He's entering his prime and the metrics back up his breakout. He was good in 2021 as well. Compare that to what we got from the catcher position this year. Huge upgrade.
  8. It doesn't have to be Wiemer. You can probably substitute any one of our AAA OF prospects to headline the deal. But we need upgrades on offense and Jansen provides a great opportunity due to the Jays roster crunch at catcher. We'll have to trade one of our outfielders eventually. Narvaez just doesn't hit the ball hard enough. His hard hit metrics are UGLY.
  9. It doesn't matter what they remind you of. They've both produced at the minor league level and are borderline top 100 prospects. That's not "nothing" like you claim it is. If they produce and/or are traded for players that produce, then the Hader trade becomes a lot better-looking. It's wait and see for now.
  10. Gasser and Ruiz are two really promising prospects, so he didn't "give away Hader for nothing". They will determine the outcome of this trade. If one or both of them turn into major contributors going forward, then the trade will look a lot better.
  11. Jansen is really good (led all catchers in wRC+), we desperately need a catcher, and we have a surplus of outfield prospects. I like Wiemer, but he's just a prospect and has probably the highest variance of anyone in our farm system. You have to give to get.
  12. If they were to trade Burnes (highly unlikely), I don't see them immediately going out and signing Abreu and Clevinger. If anything, they'd pocket the savings and go full-steam ahead with the rookies and the prospects from the Burnes trade. Also, that isn't enough for Burnes. What the Reds got for Castillo is your reference point and should probably exceed that given that Burnes would have 2 full seasons of team control.
  13. Jansen led all MLB catchers in WRC+ last season. He's more than a "slightly above-average" catcher. I was going based off https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/. Jansen's surplus trade value is 17.8, which requires Wiemer+ to match.
  14. This ignores the fact that Kirk is regularly featured at DH, which, if they traded Jansen, would make Moreno the starter. You trade the guy with the least amount of team control, which is Jansen.
  15. The Jays have three starting to elite caliber catchers. They are going to be severely hard pressed to go into next season with all of them on their roster. Thus, they will have to trade one of them, and Jansen is the most likely candidate as he has the least amount of club control Also, you should look at this site, which provides you with a rough estimate of a player's trade value. It is known to be used by major league executives in at least some capacity. You will notice that Jansen has median value of 17.8. In comparison, Houser's median value is 6.1., or less than half of Jansen's. Even a prospect like Joey Wiemer doesn't get you all the way there on his own. So, yes, while it wouldn't cost a Chourio or a Frelick, it will definitely cost one of our upper-tier prospects to acquire Jansen. https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/
  16. Houser doesn't get you even close. It's going to require one of our top AAA prospects to headline the deal imo.
  17. His offensive stats are nothing to write home about??? His 140 WRC+ led all MLB catchers with at least 200 plate appearances...
  18. Good stuff and in line with what I'm thinking. I would probably decline the option on Wong though and use that $10 million to go after a reliever and/or starting pitching depth. Turang is ready. However, a trade for Danny Jansen will likely require more prospect capital than what you're currently giving TOR. A Wiemer/Mitchell/Turang would probably have to headline the deal.
  19. Kolten Wong, option declined Brent Suter, non-tendered Trevor Gott, non-tendered Blake Treinen, signed for two years at $10 mil AAV Keston Hiura, traded to Oakland Athletics for A.J. Puk Danny Jansen, acquired from the Blue Jays for Joey Wiemer, Carlos Rodriguez, and Eduardo Garcia. C Danny Jansen ($3.70M) 1B: Rowdy Tellez ($5.50M) 2B: Brice Turang ($0.70M) 3B: Luis Urias ($4.50M) SS: Willy Adames ($9.50M) LF: Sal Frelick ($0.70M) CF: Garrett Mitchell ($0.70M) RF: Hunter Renfroe ($11.00M) DH: Christian Yelich ($26.00M) 4th OF: Tyrone Taylor ($2.00M) Utility: Mike Brosseau ($1.00M) Utility: Esteury Ruiz ($0.70M) Backup C Victor Caratini ($2.80M) SP1: Corbin Burnes ($11.50M) SP2: Brandon Woodruff ($11.00M) SP3: Freddy Peralta ($3.50M) SP4: Eric Lauer ($5.00M) SP5: Adrian Houser ($3.00M) RP: AJ Puk ($0.70M) RP: Jake Cousins ($0.70M) RP: Matt Bush ($2.00M) RP: Aaron Ashby ($1.20M) RP: Hoby Milner ($1.00M) RP: Peter Strzlecki ($0.70M) RP: Blake Treinen ($10.00M) RP: Devin Williams ($3.20M) Payroll is 5.92% under budget,
  20. I and the person I was responding to were referring to the Yelich extension...

  22. Why should it cost Stearns his job when Attanasio was the one who pushed for and led the effort by all accounts??
  23. Why should it cost Stearns his job when Attanasio was the one who pushed for and led the effort by all accounts??
  24. No way Woodruff for Jansen is close to an even trade on our end. If we're trading Woodruff, arguably a top 10 pitcher in the game with 2 years of control remaining, I'd want Moreno or Kirk. Just look at the Luis Castillo trade to see how much value Woodruff still has. One of our upper level prospects not named Frelick or Chourio and a lower-level player should be more than enough to get Jansen if we're not dealing from the major-league roster. We would be helped by the fact that it will be pretty hard for the Jays to go into next season with those three catchers on their roster.
  25. I'd give up a Mitchell and a Houser for him any day of the week. We may not have any huge holes in our lineup, but we need upgrades and Jansen has a WRC+ of 138, which would easily be tops in our lineup.
