  1. Vazquez obviously makes the most sense on a two year deal as you wouldn't have to give up prospects and he would be able to help form a bridge to Quero. However, with the markets rumored to be involved and the trajectory of the FA market this offseason, I don't think it'll happen. Murphy is the top trade candidate. However, the asking price there is enormous, with the A's reportedly having asked for Nootbar, Donovan, Graceffo, plus from the Cards. For the Brewers, that would be like Frelick, Turang, and Gasser as a starting point, with Ashby perhaps having to be included as well. Again, unlikely. Which brings us back to Toronto and Danny Jansen. He should be about half the cost of Murphy and would likewise be able to manage the C position until Quero arrives. Jansen also carries with him some upside, considering he's been a backup his whole career and has still put up a 123 OPS+ over the past two seasons with above average batted ball metrics. I'd give Toronto an OF not named Chourio or Frelick, along with Eric Lauer and a lottery ticket. That's a fair trade for both sides imo. D'Arnaud would also be more than acceptable to me. It's just a question of whether the Braves are going to trade him, or if they want to keep him and play Contreras at DH or in the OF. He should cost around the same or a little less than Jansen, but also has more downside as he's already 33.
  2. Truth be told, it's largely the same people complaining and overreacting to every move the Brewers make period.
  3. Adjustments are a good thing and not necessarily an indication of unreliability. In this particular case, they made the correct adjustment by moving Woody up 12 points. Again, I wouldn't focus on making sure that everything lines up value-wise to the last decimal. That's not how the real world operates. But it does provide a basic picture that is grounded in empirical data and which helps to structure the discussion around potential trades. And the fact remains that it's been accurate on upwards of 90% of actual trades. That's a pretty good indication of validity right there.
  4. Ah, yes, the old labeling an opinion that doesn't perfectly align with yours as a "joke" trick...Nice demonstration of your supposed commitment to pluralism on the forum. It's far from an unreasonable take. The Brewers ran away with the division in 2021 and were in first place for a large chunk of 2022, before injuries to their pitching staff caught up with them and team morale was decimated by the Hader trade. I don't entirely agree with it, but it's a fair argument/opinion.
  5. No one's saying that BTV is the Bible or anything, but it's at least a fair starting point that helps provide an effective grounding for trade discussions. I believe it's been accurate on around 90% of actual trades. FWIW, I just noticed that BTV adjusted Woody's MTV from 39 to 51. That's a lot more reasonable compared to Burnes' 78 MTV, though maybe still a bit short.
  6. Wow. This is the literal definition of "spending stupid money". True test will come when they try to extend Soto, who will probably get over half a billion dollars.
  7. Did the Adames, Tellez, and Renfroe (1st) trades not happen within that timeframe?
  8. My prediction: it comes via trade.
  9. Winker was pretty clearly injured last year, which he has subsequently remedied via surgery. The two years before that, he was one of the best hitters in the game, OPSing over .930. For his career, he's hit: .270/.374/.463. But, yeah, that won't contribute to or improve our offense at all... No, you were the one who brought up Hader, as you always do, when you talked about how you "no longer expect them to make a trade that will help the mlb club...even in a playoff race!" The reference there is clear. Don't treat us like we're idiots. Who are these free agents that you think we should sign? Cause all I see so far are mega-deals that the Brewers will never have the capacity to shoulder. It's December 7th. More than two months until pitchers and catchers meet, and there are still plenty of free agent and trade options out there. I suggest you take a step off the ledge, if you are able to.
  10. Not sure. But it's sure as heck good to hear that he's not content with Caratini/Feliciano/Henry.
  11. So you don't think acquiring Winker for Wong will help the mlb club? I would question that. You seem to be one of the people that the Josh Hader trade has broken....It's all you ever bring up.
  12. Home run OC hire in addition to our homerun HC hire.
  13. I'd give up Wiemer over Frelick if we did that deal.
  14. Pure nonsense. The Phillies, Padres, Cardinals, Mariners and Mets literally made selections themselves, all of whom were also pitchers.
  15. Yeah. I wouldn't exactly be shocked if he did that. But if he didn't want to take "a step down", Packers' D-Coordinator would be it. I think he would transform our underperforming defense.
  16. Not if we're willing to give up Frelick, Turang, Gasser, etc. But I wouldn't do it.
  17. I wouldn’t go there yet. There’s still options out there. But if that’s the direction the FO wants to take they would have been better off trading Burnes, Woodruff, and/or Adames.
  18. Yeah, trying to think of a comparison for Essegian, I initially thought Herro. But the more I think about it, the more JJ Reddick comes to my head. Says a lot about his confidence and swagger on the court.
  19. James McCann, as in the guy who's posted a -0.3 WAR the past two years and who posted a sparkling .538 OPS this year? Hard pass. It's Vazquez, Murphy, D'Arnaud, or Jansen or bust for me..
  20. I think JL to GB has legs for two reasons, assuming that Barry is indeed on his way out. 1) He has a young family that he has consistently said he doesn't want to uproot and which is a large part of the reason why he's stayed in Madison despite other job offers. Now that staying in Madison is no longer an option, the next closest option is obviously Green Bay. In fact, his family could probably keep living in Madison if he took the Packers' D-Coordinator job. 2) He's committed to coaching in Madison through the bowl game. Other college football programs and coaches are unlikely to wait that long given how the transfer portal and recruiting season are now in full swing.
  21. I think if Wahl can find his late-season form from last year we have a great shot at repeating for the BIG title. Hepburn and Crowl have really stepped up lately. And then Essegian continues to be the bucket-getter this team needs. Klesmit is also up there with Showalter and Gasser as high-level glue guys who can defend and score when called upon. Love how this team is shaping up.
  22. Marquette doesn't count as a road game to you? I get it's still in Wisconsin, but that's always a hostile crowd...
  23. One more year of control, better fielder, and played in 148 games this year (compared to a career high of 107 for Jansen in 2019).
