  1. We might be able to buy out one or two of his FA years while we're at it. Would absolutely love that move.
  2. Justin Turner on a one (maybe two) year deal would be an interesting consideration if we do in fact go ahead and trade Wong. Turner's obviously not what he once was, but his numbers from last year would still fit really well on this team and our efforts to transition to a more contact-oriented offensive unit. Move Urias to 2B and then you would have a pretty good infield with Turner at 3B and Adames at SS. Turang also wouldn't have the pressure of an immediate starting spot and could take on the Jace Peterson role.
  3. Yep. Between Kneuppel, Yalden, and Essegian, that's a level of offensive talent that would rival our Final Four teams.
  4. Chourio, Wiemer? Even so, RBI's are not really a stat you should predicate your moves on. Tellez is a near 100 RBI guy, and look how relatively cheap we got him.
  5. It’s certainly possible he follows the Tyler Herro route, but at the moment we are the rumored favorites to land his services so I’ll be optimistic.
  6. I wouldn't go that far. He still put up a 2.7 WAR this year.
  7. I strongly disagree. The goal should be to accumulate as much elite talent as possible, regardless of position. Trades and free agent signings can always be made to fill in the gaps on your roster. Doing otherwise is how you set yourself up to lose trades. I'd much rather have Moreno than a guy such as DL Hall.... Plus, the first player I named was Grayson Rodriguez...
  8. Me likey very much.
  9. Let's get it this season, Mark and Matt. Rarely do you get opportunities like this. Add a high-powered arm or two in the bullpen and get a catcher (Hello, Jansen/Vasquez) and/or a right-handed bat and GIDDY UP.
  10. Holy crap. This is insane. And Boyd, who the Tigers literally non-tendered last year and pitched all of 13 innings this season, just received $10 million from DET, too. If we did trade Burnes, I'd want Grayson Rodriguez, Gabriel Moreno, etc.
  11. 2.7 this year. Far from unreasonable to think he gets a bump of 0.3 from the banning of the shift and a potential increase in time at DH. Why he's ultimately projected by Steamer to do so. Optimistic would be like 4.0 and above, which would be a return to all-star caliber production.
  12. Not really. He's literally projected for a 3.0 WAR by Steamer.
  13. I don't see the logic of trading Renfroe, who had one year left, and then going ahead and signing a worse player on a one year contract. That pretty much negates the payroll space you created while providing you with lesser production and reestablishing a roadblock for your youngsters.
  14. Here's the literal evidence I presented with my opinion: 1) Frelick was a college draft pick whose calling card was his elite hit tool. Those are precisely the types of guys who move quickly through the minors as Frelick already has. Next step in the development process: facing MLB pitching. 2) He's slashed .331/.403/.476 in 638 at-bats during his minor league career with one of the highest contact rates in the minors. This is highlighted by his hitting .365/.435/.508 against AAA pitching, including more walks than strikeouts. Again, nothing left for him to prove in the minors. 3) The Brewers are incentivized to have him on the opening day roster next season as they could be eligible for an extra draft pick if he finishes in the top 3 of the rookie of the year vote. Considering the above AAA stats and his 70-grade hit tool, that is certainly a plausible outcome. Overall, all of this evidence points to him being on the MLB roster by late April at the latest, if not by opening day. Your evidence??? Keston Hiura? That's not really evidence considering they're different players. Keston Hiura exhibited a growing K rate as he progressed through the minors, which in hindsight, was a huge warning sign as to how his production would translate to the majors. Frelick, on the other hand, struck out a mere 7.4% of the time in AAA, with one of the highest contact rates in all the minors. Hiura didn't fail because they rushed him through the minors. Hiura failed because he had a huge hole in his swing that was exposed once he faced major league pitching.
  15. Poland would still have advanced on fair play (less yellow cards),
  16. Honestly, barring a free agent signing, which wouldn't make a lot of sense in light of the Renfroe trade, I think we're going to see: Yelich in LF, Frelick in CF, and Mitchell in RF, with Taylor as the 4th outfielder seeing regular at-bats. Yelich will get time at DH, but I don't see him moving there full time just yet.
  17. Wow. Last 35 minutes or so was awesome.
  18. May have spoken too soon...
  19. Mexico on the verge of bowing out of this tournament before the knockouts without a single goal. What a world. If we didn't already know who the best team in CONCACAF is after last year's Nations' League and Gold Cup finals. we do now. And no, Canada. finishing 1st in qualifying doesn't mean jack squat when the goal is to simply finish in the top 3...
  20. And where is the evidence for this? Because I just presented the evidence that they will almost certainly call him up in short order, if not by opening day....If you want to present things as a matter of fact, then the evidence should be clear...
  21. He was a college draft pick, expected to be one of the fastest movers from his draft class due to his elite hit tool....He literally just laid waste to AAA pitching, with more walks than strikeouts and one of the highest contact rates in the minors. He's ready, the Brewers recognize this, and they have an incentive to have him on the opening day roster. Hence, the Renfroe trade...
  22. Wiemer? Probably yes. Frelick? I severely doubt so. Frelick is as major league ready as it gets, with one of the best hit tools (if not THE best) in the entire minors. They may keep him down until mid to late April in order to gain the extra year of control. But he's going to be up in short order regardless. FWIW, he'll have to be on the opening day roster if they want the possibility of gaining that extra draft pick from the ROY vote.
  23. WOHHHHOOOOOOO!!!!!
  24. Well, looks like they're not going for the second goal with these last two subs.
  25. Mark Attanasio getting nervous with Josh Sargent down...
